Lakefront Riverwest Stein

Lakefront Riverwest Stein

Our flagship beer, named after the hard-working neighborhood where Lakefront Brewery was founded.
Lands a brilliant amber in the glass and settles with a bubbly, off-white head, releasing mild peppery and floral hop aromas. A hint of caramel malt sweetness up front is checked by a pleasant hop bite and crisp, lager finish. Riverwest Stein: an honest day’s beer.

3.0 Malt smell...and taste...one dimensional...straight medium to strong boldness of brown malt... that's about it...x2
4.0 12 ounce bottle. Deep amber orange color. Small creamy beige head. Sharp grainy toasted malt nose. Sweet toasted malt flavor has notes of caramel and vanilla. Grassy, light citrus hops in finish. Rich and malty. Chewy mouthfeel. Very good.
3.3 Sampler at the brewpub. It poured an orange/red color with a white head. The aroma was of honey, roast, yeast and malts. The taste was similar to the aroma with more honey, roast, yeast, malts and nice carbonation with a mild aftertaste. Tasty.
3.3 12 ounce can at home. Bought when in Milwaukee. Medium beige head. Amber in color Taste caramel and is malty. Very smooth on palate. No after bite. Could drink many of this brew at one setting Overall above average with me.
3.5 Easy drinking. Very malty. No off or bitter flavors. Sweet malt with good balance hoppier than old world style. Still nice
3.4 Clear amber lager. Roasty and sweet Aroma and taste. Well balanced and malty, the hops do help cut through some of the malt. Refreshing and crisp like a lager. Slightly spicy
3.5 From the tap at Italian restraunt in Milwaukee. The aroma is caramel and orange, Apearance is amber in color. It’s medium sweet with a light bitterness. Finishes with caramel, nuts, and orange
3.6 rich gold with some red. fast dissipating foam. Aroma rich creamy caramel. cow tails candy. tastes big buttery caramel, grain. super clean. full bodied yet comes up slightly crisp. not getting cascade really, seems spicy/noble hops. good.
4.0 B-. Pours a murky amber color with white head. Caramel and toasty aroma & flavors.
3.3 0.33l bottle. Pours amber colour with medium size off white head, clear liquid. Aroma of fresh baked bread, corn syrup. Medium sweet, very low bitterness. Medium body, oily feel, very gentle caramel aftetaste
3.6 On tap at B Dubs. Amber pour with an off-white head. Taste and aroma of caramel malt and hops, Nice enough.
2.7 Not a big fan, tastes kinda generic for some reason, not bad don’t get me wrong.
4.3 I got to enjoy Riverwest Stein with some fried cheese curds and some golden-brown strips of fried lake perch. It’s hard to get more Wisconsin than that. Hard to dream up a better pairing for the meal, too. Riverwest Stein pours amber and has a decidedly malt-forward aroma. Flavor is lightly toasty and has lots of caramel sweetness. For all the maltiness, there’s a quick, smooth finish with just a flash of hops. Not the most complex beer out there, but it’s undeniably tasty.
3.3 Intense grain and bread malts, caramel. Clear, dark gold, medium, creamy, off-white head. Medium sweet. More sweet grain malts, lively carbonation, light bitterness coming up in the finish. OK Amber, nothing too spectacular though. Keg at brewery, Milwaukee.
2.9 On tap in Burlington Iowa afternoon before the Dead & Co show. Pretty disappointing. Some malt and bread flavors, but generally a cardboardy lager quality.
4.0 Aroma: malt, bread Taste: malt, bread and nuts from the start. Sweet caramel in the background. Well balanced by grass hops. One of the best in it’s style
3.4 From bottle. Pours clear amber with medium off white head. Aroma of malts, bread, caramel. Medium, creamy body with soft carbonation. Taste is medium to light sweet, light bitter. Good.
3.7 Drank this beer from a glass poured from a bottle, this beer had a medium to dark brown and red pour with a good mix of haze and gave a one finger white and faint off-white cover that receded to a ring and thin layer of bubbles, it left some small fingers and spots of lacing on the glass, the nose had munich malt with some melanoidins, a little dark toasted malt, some toasted bread and caramel like notes with light hops, a little malt sweetness, there was munich malt with dark malt flavors, light citrus and spice hops, some dark toasted bread and faint caramel with malt/bread medium sweetness, there was a hint of brown sugar like sweetness but not quite there, the mouth feel was light with average carbonation, it was creamy on the lips, this beer resembled a dark amber beer with a mix of dark Octoberfest beer on the nose and flavor, it was tasty and in some ways reminds me of the Short’s older version of Noble Chaos before they changed the beer to it’s current state, this was a good drink.
3.6 Thank you, Lakefront Brewery, there in Milwaukee; this, too, is a beer that should make Milwaukee famous.
3.2 Aroma - toasted malt and spiced hops. Appearance - the body is hazy, unfiltered, and amber in color. The head is about 1" and off-white. Head sticks around for a while, and fades into a small slice. Taste - caramel malt, with some spiced hops. There is a slight oak about the flavor. Palate - medium body, slight creaminess, average carbonation, and a slight pungent bitter finish.
3.4 Bottle from variety case. Pours an amber color with a generous head. Staying power too. Aroma is timid with fresh caramel malts. Creamy palate. Smooth beer. Slight hops. Tofee biscuit notes. Medium light body. I enjoyed this beer.
2.9 This beer is a sweet treat. If you like desserts. I’m diabetic. I want to like the flavor she gives me, but it’s an insulin depleting challenge.
3.6 Pours a hazy amber-orange with many fine particles and a decent khaki-cream head that leaves some soapy, stringy lace. Nose involves toasted malt, lightly metallic lager yeast, some noble hop spice and light pine. Pretty sweet, fairly bitter. Medium bodied, oily, active, with a toasty lager finish. Nice amber lager.
3.5 12 oz bottle from the sampler case. This is an above average amber lager but it still reminds me of drinking something artificial in its redness. Don’t let that dissuade you from trying it yourself.
3.1 12 oz bottle from J J Liquors in Edgewater. Clear amber appearance with red hues and a beige head. Clean, malty, smooth and rich with notes of toasted grain, light caramel, toffee and bread. Solid, easy drinking amber lager overall.
3.3 This one is light biscuit up front, a candy sweet middle, and a barnyard aftertaste.
3.3 Clear amber lager. Roasty and sweet Aroma and taste. Well balanced and malty, the hops do help cut through some of the malt. Refreshing and crisp like a lager. Slightly spicy
3.9 12 ounce bottle into lager glass, best before 11/19/2015. Pours slightly hazy reddish copper color with a 1 finger dense off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of caramel, toast, biscuit, light nuttiness, light lemon/orange zest, herbal, grass, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance of dark/bready malt and citrus/earthy hop notes; with good strength. Taste of caramel, toast, biscuit, light nuttiness, light lemon/orange zest, herbal, grass, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Light earthy/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toast, biscuit, light nuttiness, herbal, grass, light pepper, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a short bit. Light-moderate dryness after the finish. Very nice robustness and balance of dark/bready malt and citrus/earthy hop flavors; with a good malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Very clean on lager flavors with minimal yeast ester notes present. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and fairly creamy/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice Vienna lager style. All around good robustness and balance of dark/bready malt and citrus/earthy hop flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink. A very enjoyable offering.
2.5 Was hoping I stumbled on a true Stein beer but alas, just a play on words....such is life....pours a cream soda brown color with a pillowy head which lingers.....aroma of very little, slight malt sweetness....taste is hay, sweet grass stalks, tails off into slight metallic finish. Not crazy about this one.
2.3 Went to a great steak house with no good beer. I had to settle for this. Not my style of beer.
