Lakefront Wheat Monkey

Lakefront Wheat Monkey

Wheat Monkey Ale captures the fresh, unfiltered spontaneity of our brewers’ creativity. Crisp and refreshing year-round, this American Wheat Ale pours a lazy, hazy golden color. Its large, white, foamy head can be attributed to the generous amount of malted white wheat added to the mash. The aroma is enhanced by our fruity house ale yeast and its fresh baked bread flavors are perfectly balanced with a Cascade hop addition.

2.7 12oz bottle. Pours a hazy golden straw color with a finger of fluffy white head. Aroma of wheat and sour dough bread. Taste of wheat, bready malts, and a hint of banana.
2.4 Not much to look at. An underwhelming taste with a very subtle aroma. Better than your Buds and Miller’s, but that’s it.
2.9 12 oz, bottle poured to a Czech-pils glass showing a hazed, golden color, a somewhat short-lived, bubbly, white head, and sparse ribbons & spots of lacing. The aroma was light grain, light lemon tartness, then a bit of apricot sweetness. Light bodied, with a lively, spritzy carbonation that presented a light seltzery taste, and accentuated the low hop bitterness. A little thin and watery in the texture department, and less estery character in the flavor than in the nose, but an acceptable summer hydrator nonetheless.
1.9 Noooooo. No. No. Boring wheat beer, could have used so much more character. Slightly fruity, but not enough to make it interesting.
3.1 Light cloudy pale yellow color. Wet yeasty farm scents. Light wet dough taste. A residue of wheat remains.
3.0 Draft at the brewery. Has a light golden color, standard-looking. Drinks very evenly without any hint of being a wheat; tastes more like an export lager to me. Clean and sessionable. (#5139, 7/5/2013)
2.9 Slightly tangy lemon aroma. something is holding it down though. Bright golden color with super fast rising sparkling white head. Tastes wheaty but kinda held down.
2.6 Bottled. Fairly watery. Some orange peel and Weiss but nothing to see here folks. Borderline of acceptable
2.7 This is a mediocre wheat. Very light and watery. Some grass and bread with a little bit of banana and citrus.
2.6 Pours light light golden with minimal malt on the notes. Overall a weak beer but is very easy to drink and is quite refreshing
2.2 12oz bottle poured into glass. Went for this beer because I’ve yet to try it. Very bland and blah. Nothing exciting happening here. I’d definitely pass next time.
2.7 Tap - small foamy head, medium straw color, sweet typical wheat aroma and flavor, very mild hops, nothing special
2.7 Goes down easy. It doesn’t have a lot of flavor. But you can taste a little bit of the wheat. Other than that it tastes kinda watered down. Its a chill beer. One for the summer that you can drink nonstop all fay.
2.6 Pours an almost clear straw yellow with a thin bit of foam on top. Weird there isn’t more sediment or cloudiness from an unfiltered wheat beer. Aroma is not a big one but whats there seems to be some light fruity esters, bready, and grass. Flavour is bready, light lemon, bit of a creamy mouth feel and a faint bitterness you could miss if you weren’t paying attention. Easily drinkable but not very memorable.
3.2 Drank from a bottle at municipal. Good wheat beer. Apricot and fruity taste. Hate the style but like this one
3.0 I liked this more than most other raters. Although not great, I thought it was decent. The lemon came off as refreshing as opposed to off, and the wheat character went well with the fairly creamy mouthfeel.
1.8 Bottle. Lactic lemon and wheat malt aroma. Hazy pale yellow with small head. Lightly bitter lemon and wheat malt flavor. Light, watery beer.
3.1 Picked up a 6 pack after a brewery tour. If you are ever in Milwaukee, take a tour. It was the best brewery tour I have ever been on. Very fun! This was one of the better samples I tried during the visit. I am a big fan of wheat beers and this is has a nice clean and crisp flavor. Wish it had a little more orange flavor.
2.3 Very thin but not off putting. It’s clean, crisp, and smells pretty good but it lacks flavor and body. The palate is very watery but extremely drinkable. Hopefully the 8 pack variety can only go up from here!
2.6 On tap at the brewery. Pours clear yellow. No aroma. Sweet and light with a touch of dough but very thin and waterry. A disappointment.
2.6 12oz bottle 2/15/13 (Binny’s Naperville Mix Six)-42° in Shaker-Pours a slightly hazy golden with a small white head. Aroma of wheat, grains, and grass. Taste of the same with some bread. This light bodied brew is not one of their better brews.
3.0 Bottle - Some of the fruit ester’s expected, but very muted and with a bit of grass. Clear gold with a minimal head. Grainy and and sweet with little bitterness and a clean finish. Pretty basic and nothing to exciting.
3.4 This wheat beer pours a pale yellowish color with a head that diminishes quickly as you get a semi strong scent of wheat. It has a decent wheat flavor to it but it is way too thin. Definitely needs more volume too it because it is just way too simple. Something beginners might want to try but not anything that will win awards.
2.7 Bottle. Pours a hazy pale yellow with a small white head. Mild aroma of wheat and grains. Flavor of wheat, citrus, grass, and dusty grains.
2.5 Extremely plain. Slight corn flavor, with sweetness, and the usual nebulous smattering of citrus, grass, hoppy finish. Clear gold with lots of bubbles. Drinkable but bland.
1.1 Bottle. Medium golden, low white head that is gone within one minute. Odd cotton candy sweetness in the aroma. Adjuncty sweet flavour. Drainpour.
2.9 This is a hazy golden wheat ale pretty typical for an American brewery’s take on the style. Light, citrusy, relatively dry w/ just a touch of bitterness in the finish. It’s pretty good and gets better the more you drink of it.
2.9 Pale yellow with a white head. Light, watery, slightly wheaty and yeasty. Finish is thin.
2.4 12 ounce bottle. Pours a hazy light gold with an average white head. Aroma of grain and citrus. Taste is grain, malt, oranges, and grass. Not too exciting.
2.6 355 ml bottle. Rated on 13.10.2012. Pours a slightly hazy golden colour with a small white head. Aroma of wheat, orange and grains. Flavour of grainy malts, wheat, disturbingly strong flour and grass. Light bodied, slick mouthfeel and soft carbonation. Finishes yeasty and floury, which runs over the flavour. Not very good.
