2.8 Lightly hazy golden brown body with a fizzy small head. Aroma of copper, light hops, caramel. Flavor of caramel, light metal taste, some astringency. Meh.
2.9 Bottle marked as best before 10/29/09. Pours with a hazed orange body and a small, off-white head. Aroma of citrus hops (orange and tangerine), caramel and grain. Taste is grainy with orange-citrus hops. Over-carbonated and dry mouthfeel. A very "middle of the road" pale ale.
2.9 Pours light golden amber with a small off white head. Nose is light but of pale malts and a tiny bit of hop. Flavor is light, crisp pale malts, with a slight bit of bitterness at the end. Very light but OK.
2.4 12 oz bottle poured into a pint glass. Golden orange with a moderate white head. Aroma is sweet malty with maybe some diacetyl. No hoppiness in the nose. Flavor is, again, sweet and malty. Zero hops. Budweiser American Ale is hoppier than this. High carbonation, light body. Blah.
2.4 12 oz bottle. Pours an orange-amber color, nice head, but it dissipates quickly. Aroma is malt with some grassy and caramel notes. Flavor is mostly caramel malt, not much else. Hmm..doesn’t sound like a pale ale so far, does it? Almost no hop or citrus flavors in this one, unfortunately. A disappointment.
3.1 Amber with foamy whitish head.Aroma is alcohol and vanilla. Taste was bland and malty but pleasant.
2.9 Bottle from Whole Foods, Short Pump on 03/29/2009. Mostly clear golden amber body with a medium frothy off-white head. Bready, yeasty and grainy aroma. Sweet grainy, cheerios flavor with some bready and yeasty notes. Medium light body with moderate carbonation.
2.8 12 ounce bottle. never tasted better than after a long night of partying in new york city. Good hops real crisp and refreshing and its very good tasdting. would buy again
2.2 (Bottle, courtesy of mar) Pours a clear golden body with a small white head. Aroma of rotten oranges, lemon, grass, and florals. Flavor of hops (grass, citrus) and caramel malt.
2.7 bottle, golden color with minimal foam, aroma of malty grain and slight citric, flavor is a muddy malty bread with some sourness, very plain
3.0 12 fluid oz bottle into a pint glass blond body with minimal golden head. Smooth well balance beer easy on the hops with a light hand on the herbs.
3.0 a light fruity belgian type brew with a nice hop presence. touch of malt at the end the brew it still has a bit of yeast in the mid palate. it is demonstrative and is either a brew of great skill or good luck. try some for sure. it does remind me of goose islands quality belgian type brews the jacques and matilda.
3.1 light amber pour with a thin cream head. nose of fresh hops with some citrus notes and a malt background. nice on the palate with a fruity hop flavor that fades to a smooth malt finish.
3.0 Clear golden color pour with a foamy head. Aroma is mostly sweet toasted malt with hints of citrus and floral hops. Flavor follows the same pattern, sweet and malty up front with a light bitter finish. Pretty standard APA.
2.3 Bottle. Light malt aromas of light bread and straw, herbs for the hops, seat for the yeast and vegetable in the background. Head is small frothy, white with no lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is clear amber. Flavor starts lightly sweet and moderately acidic, then finishes moderately acidic and lightly bitter. Palate is light to medium, dry and has a lively finish. It finishes metallic and lightly astringent. A plain beer all around. Is this really from Goose Island? I dont get it.
2.9 Compliments of doboy (thanks Ed!), beer pours light golden from 12 oz bottle, forming medium size white foamy head. Aroma of corn sweetness and malts. Flavour was both of malted grains and faint hop character, somewhat creamy, with little carbonation. An easy drinking beer, perhaps sessions while mowing the lawn and such. Organic? Who really knows, but it really didn’t make too much of a difference I think, overall.
3.3 Not a bad beer, Poured a dark blonde with a nice white head that unfortunately died too quickly but left a nice lace. Light aroma of a sweet malt. Seems to be well balanced with light malts and a light bittering from the hops. Carbonation seems good, a good clean session beer definately!
3.2 12 oz. bottle on 09/23/08, courtesy Doboy. Aroma- Light grain, some fruitiness, faint floral hops. Appearance - clear gold, medium off white head that settles quickly. Flavor - Balance is pretty good between a gentle maltiness and and a hop based soft bitterness. Nothing really jumps out as remarkable. Palate - Medium body, light carbonation, clean palate. Overall - Decent, but not anything special. Fine as a session beer with the usual accompaniments.
2.6 Pours a light amber color with a crisp tan head. Loaded with caramel and yeast, yet high in water content and low in it’s ambition.
3.0 12 oz bottle. Pours a clear orange/gold with small off white head. Aroma of sweet maltiness and faint (floral?) hoppiness. Similar notes in the taste. Slightly bitter finish. Fine carbonation.
2.6 Bottle: Copper color, lightly shiney with a light sticky head and some lacing. The nose is lightly hoppy with a faint toast and sweet orange note. The flavor lacks body and bitterness but that sweet caramel and faint grassy note are still present. Doesn’t seem hoppy in the tail though, very sweet and caramelly with a thin base malt. Clean finish for sure, but nothing close to what I’d call crisp.
3.2 Bottle: Nothing waht I would expect from an APA; malty caramel, hints of hops all very well balanced. Finish is dry and sweet.
3.3 Hazy coppery orange with fluffy white head and ample lacing. Subdued fruity nose with some graininess. Soft mouthfeel. Sweet but tolerable and not icky. Simple, sweet malts and some hop in the aftertaste, so fairly balanced beer at a really good price point.
3.1 Slightly hazy orangey-tan colour. The aroma is faint - kind of toasty, caramelly. Low bitterness. Clean, simple and approachable. Subtle toast and wood. Drinkable, but unlikely to inspire.
2.7 Light amber, 1+ inch foamy off-white head. Yeast, bread and dough aroma. Bland yeast flavor. Medium/watery mouthfeel. Bitter finsih.
3.5 Clear amber with a bit of foam. Subtle smell is yeasty bready malts and light purfumy hops. Smooth medium body. Good light caramel and toasted malt taste up front with a nicely bitter finish. Very easy drinking session brew here.
2.9 Bottle from Whole Foods Charlottesville. Pours a copper color with medium sized creamy head. Good retention and lacing. Aroma is skunky hops. Taste is a reasonably balanced beer more on the malty side. A little thin.
2.8 Pours clear with very little head. Aroma is undercharged with some citrus hop notes but nothing really prominent. Flavor is once again very underwhelming. Nothing special, some citrus with malt but very mild. Palate is a bit slick with some stickiness. Overall, not one of my favorites. Drinkable but not outstanding.
2.4 Average ale. Taste does not live up to the promise of the unfiltered pour. Mouthfeel was thin, as was the aftertaste. Not a bad drink, but it is blown away by many superior brews.
3.2 Bottle (BB Jul/08). Head is initially average sized, frothy, off-white, mostly diminishing. Body is light amber. Aroma is moderately malty (bread, cookie, toasted grain), lightly to moderately hoppy (flowers, herbs, orange), with a light note of honey. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, velvety/syrupy texture, lively carbonation. The sweetness is a bit unbalanced (and kinda syrupy) and thus it’s a difficult beer to drink much of, but the aroma is nice. Very malty.
