Lambrate Ghisa

Lambrate Ghisa

Ale in Smoked Stout style. With an interesting colour of a friar’s frock, this beer is characterised by a thick cappuccino-coloured foam. On the nose, it has smoked notes recalling scamorza and toasting notes recalling coffee. In the mouth, it’s more delicate and features notes of liquorice, cocoa and dried fruit (carob) which come along with a delicate bitter taste due to the toasting of malts. 12.5°

3.5 Bottle in a bar in Venice. Mahogany with a beige head. Mild smoke aroma. The taste is roasty with very light smoke. Nutty and some elastoplast. Nice but a little thin.
3.8 Brunatne praktycznie nieprzezroczyste piwo z solidną beżową pianą która całkiem ładnie zdobi szkło. W aromacie nuty dymione i palone, kawa i trochę czekolady. W smaku podobnie, niewielka goryczka. Nie czuć tak mocnej wędzonki jak u Schenkerli, piwo jest delikatniejsze. Mogło być więcej ciała. Jestem ciekaw ich wersji imperialnej. Polecam

3.2 Draught @ Lambrate Gastropub, MIlano (April 21, 2018). There is nice taste of smoke in the beginning but it quickly vanished. The rest is normal stout. I would have liked more smoky taste.
3.7 on tap; the color is dark; on the nose is absolutely smoked, with some coffee notes and wood fire aroma; in mouth points of toasted, chocolate and fruits; despite the smoking, the beer has a good flavor and is very drinkable.

3.8 Bottle. Jet black with quite big but not very solid, tan head and just a little bit of lacing. Strong and very pleasant aromas of coffee with milk and cacao, very solid but changing with warming to pleasant light smoky notes with some licorice and peated tones. Light body, very dry and surprisingly watery. A lot of cacao in the taste, some roasted - sour feelings and light bitterness in the finish. Very good! can’t wait to try imperial version.

4.1 Cask glass @ CML Fontainas. Black creamy with some brief mocha bubbles. Nose is dry soy sauce, mocha, powdery dry, mocha, roasted malts. Taste is dry mocha, intense smoke going over into soy sauce, dry mocha, grainy chocolate, simple bit on smoke with some soy sauce. Straightforward beer but a nice one, pretty close in quality to the Imperial version. Not sure if this beer benefited from being served on Cask, it felt a bit watery & lacking in some carbonation.
