Lambrate Imperial Ghisa

Lambrate Imperial Ghisa

Lager in the Smoked Baltic Porter style. Impenetrable. Black in colour. On the nose, this extreme version of the Ghisa features toasting, coffee grounds, smoking, bitter cocoa and toffee notes, and a winy alcoholic component which accompanies the fragrance of alcohol soaked redberries.
In the mouth, it’s full bodied and corresponds to the sensations felt in the nose.
Meditative warming beer, the alcoholic impact is not as violent as expected.

Curiosity
Having a high alcohol content of 8.5% Vol. and the intense smoke aroma, this beer, from legendary Ghisa family, has brought fame to our Brewery. Today in Milan "El Ghisa" is a friendly way the citizens still call traffic officers; most probably because of old black uniforms worn by the officers that reminded of the colour of cast iron fountains. Besides, their top hats popular around the year 1860 looked like cast iron tubes of some German stoves traded in Milan at that time. 20°

4.0 From tap at Birra Italian craft beer bar, Berlin. Black color with beige brown head. Roasted malty aroma, chocolate, licorice, caramel, smoked notes - wood. Sweet and light to moderate bitter taste. Medium oily body with soft carbonation.
4.1 F: huge, tanned, very long lasting. C: black, totally opaque. A: dark malts, peat, smoked tones, smoked meat, woody, dark caramel. T: very malty, smoked tones, caramel, bit vinous, dry on the palate, smoke, harmonic bitterness, nice balanced roasted malts, medium to full body, medium carbonation but it takes very long to pour the glass, great beer for the style, fully enjoyed, 33cl bottle from trade with Werckmeister, many thanks man.
3.8 Bottiglia.
3.5 Totally black. Aroma is pretty smoky with burnt toast and a bit of ham. Taste is also smoked with cocoa.
4.0 On tap at Uiltje Bar. Jet black, beige head. Nose is moderate smoke, woods, earthy notes, some very dark chocolate and coffee. In taste it’s less smokey and more coffee and earthy, still very pleasant. Medium bodied with long, bittersweet finish and average carbo. Good un.
3.9 Bottle - Smoke and dark rich chocolate, with a touch of roast. Jet brown with a cascading and rich light brown head. Dark, sweet, woody and a touch of peat. Long finish with some dark fruit in the mix. Complex and nicely done.
3.8 Black with creamy head. Aroma is quite smokey from burnt malts. Smooth texture. Flavour has a lot of burnt malts. Liquorice sweetness comes through in the aftertaste.
4.0 Bottle. Pours black with a brown head. Aromas of smoke, coffee and caranel. Flavours of smoked ham, ash, caramel, coffee and dark chocolate. Medium to full body.
4.0 Lovely smoked ham aroma with some chocolate. Black color with minimal sized brown head. Smokey taste, nice cocoa and chocolate. Medium to full body, flat carbonation, creamy and oily. Finish is perhaps bit too sweet.
4.2 (> fumé, ~choco, onctueuse, > fumé-charcut’, fin pain grillé-cara brûlé, last sec (80), lack force (8,5), s’arrondit)
3.9 Bottle 33 cl. Black with a medium light brown head. Aroma of chocolate, dark sauce and roasted malt sense. Sweet with a good warm chocolate and oil end. bb 06.2022, from Vinmonopolet Ålesund, Moa
3.6 Tap at the brewpub. Pours black, good , dark head. Smell is smoked, roasty. Tastebis very creamy, smoked, roasty, aromatic ( chocolate ) roasted malts. Very well balanced smoked beer.
4.1 Draft at FOB, Rimini, Italy. Pours black with persistent cappuccino foam, very fine. Aroma is hazelnut, chocolate, figs. Body is fantastically velvety, though with a nice tickling carbonation. Taste is moderately sweet and bitter, with some smoked feeling and a toasted character. Finish is long and toasted.
4.0 Dark brown color with creamy brown head. Aroma has nice caramel, roasted malts, smoky grains and chocolate shake. Taste is sweet and malty, chocolatey, smoky but not too intense, really roasty and bitter on the aftertaste. Medium body, smooth on the palate. Really well made, tasty and easy drinking smoked beer.
3.9 Bottle. Color is close to black, coffee foam. Aroma: dark and roasted malts, smoked meat and cheese, a little whisky, prunes, caramel, light touch of chocolate. Taste: dark malts, caramel sweetness is replaced by hop bitterness, herbaceous and pine, moderate smoked bacon, Scotch whisky, smoked prunes, cigars ash. Pleasant one.
3.6 Muy buena cerveza Stout que no abusa ni del alcohol ni del torrefacto, un sabor muy compensado
3.0 330ml bottle at Alex's. BB 2015-04-06. Pours a dark brown with a weak brown head. Aroma is smoky with some nuts and dark fruits. Taste is very smoky and bitter with low sweetness. Not very good anymore.
3.3 330mL bottle, best before 3 years ago ("thanks" Alex), pours black with a small brown head. Aroma brings out soy sauce, oxidation and more soy sauce. Flavour is loaded with soy sauce, very subdued smoke, and a little dry cocoa. Clearly oxidized, with too much soy sauce, but you can detect a very pleasant beer that once was. Not bad for such an old beer.
3.7 Bottle, 330 ml shared with JFK10000 and Max. Pours dark brown with medium beige head. Smoke, malty, roasted, some chocolate, bitter bit unpleasant finish. Medium bodied.
Seca. Postgusto a chocolate y ceniza.
4.2 15/12/2014 - draught glass @Moeder Lambic Fontainas. Black with tanned head in 2 layers (half big pearls, half bit thick creamy with small pearls). Nose is first lots of leather and smoke, than milder, and some chocolate. Taste is dark malts, roast, soft leather sometimes, dark chocolate, creamy milk chololate. Nice thick mouthfeel.
3.8 On tap at Pivoteka Zagreb. Black coloured, medium sized brown head, chocolate and smoke in the nose. Roasted malt, chocolate, smoke, notes of hops and dried fruits with chocolate and light alcohol in the finish. Well balanced brew.
3.9 Tap @ Bier Kraft, Sevilla, Spain. Black colour with a thick tan head. Aroma is roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, nuts. Taste is roasted malt, coffe, chocolate, sweet, nuts, smoke, bitter. Full body, soft carbonation.
3.1 Totally black and with no top. Roasted coffee grains dominate everything both to the nose and in mouth. Very bitter but with elegance. Full bodied, carbonation is flat almost. Alcohol is well hidden. Not very different from the standard version for what I remember. Simple, maybe too much, but nice.
