Laughing Dog Crotch Sniffing Bastard

Laughing Dog Crotch Sniffing Bastard

Hey, what can we say? Dogs do like to sniff down there. A British style ESB with the Laughing Dog twist. It’s clean and smooth, the way an ESB should be. Silver Medal NABA.

4.4 Nice beer. Had at a beer geeks tasting. Rated this beer using a different program and unfortunately I'm not able to transfer my comments here.
2.8 Aroma is sweet licorice and mint with a hint of peppery spice...yeasty too...I'm scared I may smell a bit of dog poop too. Of course I still tasted this stinky amber cloud of a beer despite its confusing olfactory introduction. And...tangy spice with yeast and peppers. A bit of sweetness. Strange.
2.9 Smells like the crotch the dog is sniffing on the label. Consistent with the crotch theme, it tastes like nuts. Not a bad beer, but not really my style.
3.9 From the bottle, love the name of this one!! Pours an amber color with a nice fruty and malty scent to it. Taste is slightly fruity up front with English bittering hop flavor in the aftertaste. Nice ESB, I’d get this one again for sure.
3.5 Dark Amber. Frothy white head - lasting. Aroma is very malty, sweet, some citrus. Crisp, medium body. Has a little ’tang’ to it. Sweet, malty, flavor matches aroma. not too bitter or dry really. not at all harsh. good balance.
3.6 malty, citrusy scent. Maybe some type of grass. Good head, dark amber color. Lemony, malty, citrus flavor. fairly smooth and refreshing.
2.7 Bottle. Pours amber with off white head. Nose and taste of grain, malt, lemongrass and tangy citrus. Medium body. Finishes tangy/light lacto sourness.
3.9 This is an excellent beer, from the first sip to the last. I can’t believe the price point or the taste. I’m not sure of the ESB thing, but it has a light, crisp tang and is quite dry. Excellent. I’ve rated a good number of beers and this one is high on the list of surprises.
3.1 Decent brew. Medium white head quickly abating to a slight lace. Amber-copper color. Some spicy hop aroma. Slight citrus up front finishing with a light bitterness. A little toffee flavor. Medium-light body.
3.7 22oz Bottle. The pour was a clear reddish brown with a light orange hue and a large (2-3 finger) light tan creamy head that had great retention and produced excellent sheeting of lacing. The aroma was of a sweet dark bread malt and a earthy Brett yeast with notes of caramel, citrus (lime), a mild spiciness and a slight fruity ester. The taste was malty sweet with notes of caramel and citrus from the start, and then progresses with a slight tart yeasty presence, a mild fruitiness and a light bitter peppery ending. The flavor lasted an average time following consumption with a mild tart spicy taste left to linger. Mouthfeel was just under medium in body and extremely creamy in texture with a nice soft carbonation. Overall this was an exceptionally well made brew that was bold, flavorful and possessed a nice sweet, spicy tart flavor. And you gotta love the name...
3.3 22oz bottle. Small head, almost clear, dull copper color. Decent aroma, strong, kind of sweet and a little nutty, some berries. The taste is different! Medium carbonation, a little sweet on the nose, bitter throughout. Points for originality.
3.1 On tap. Dark amber color, thin tiny head. Nice malty nose. Crisp clean attack and a good finish.
3.3 22 ounce bottle. Pours dark copper with a nice off-white head. Aroma of malt, citrus, and caramel. Taste is malt, citrus, pine, and caramel. Some hops bitterness at the finish. Nice.
2.7 Gold color. Light aroma and light flavor. Dry grain, and very light English hops. Not much there.
3.5 Pours a light brown with fruity nose and almost citrusy flavor. Great malty flavor balanced with just the right touch of hops. Good head retention and overall appeal. Finishes with crisp with lingering citrus hops. Crotch sniffingly good! Or bad...depending on taste! ---IdealBrew "Good People Good Beer"
3.7 Bottle. Nice deep amber orange with a rocky off-white head. Earthy toffee malts, peach preserves, grassy bitterness. Really drinkable and tasty.
3.9 22 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled 3/23/2012. Pours slightly hazy red-orange color with a nice 2 finger fairly dense cream colored head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Some foamy spotty lacing clings to the glass. Aromas of orange, lime, caramel, toast, herbal, floral, biscuit, and light spiciness. Nice aromas with good strength and balance; pretty typical ESB aromas. Taste of orange, lime, caramel, toast, biscuit, floral, and herbal spiciness. Fair amount of herbal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of light fruits, toast, biscuit, caramel, and herbal spiciness on the finish for a good bit. Nice flavor balance, with no cloying flavors at all. Medium carbonation and body; with a fairly creamy and smooth mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is well hidden with hardly any warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a very nice ESB offering. Nice flavor balance, and very smooth to drink. This is quite enjoyable.
2.3 caramel, milky and fruity. some malt and a bit of citrus the brew strikes one as a nice type of amber brew at first. tragically the brew becomes vague even with a full mouth bitterness that is mostly of black pepper. tangy and caustic it is incomplete.
3.2 Not bad. Pours amber and cloudy with a small head. Very smooth and easy to drink, with no beer harshness. I get some very faint fruit notes to it.
3.0 22 oz. bottle served in shaker- poured a transparent firm copper with an amber tint color, light carbonation, 3mm white head did try it’s best to lace. Aroma of caramel, wheat, and light notes of pepper and fruit. Hits the mouth with light-medium body, malt is ok, middle has a fair fruit sensation, finish is complete. NEXT!
0.5 Well, it’s got Brett yeast in it and I HATE Brett yeast so I took a sip and poured it out. Had I known it had brettanomyces yeast, I would’ve never bought it. Thanks for wasting my money by not putting that on the label.
3.4 1 June 2012, bottle. Light amber, clear, no bubbles. Malty with some oats and faint grassy hops. Med/thin and slightly fizzy. Malty, faint tartness, some grassy notes. Meh. Just like the way a dog says hello: slightly unpleasant but I'll deal with it.
2.9 Bottle. Pours a cloudy amber with a small frothy beige head leaving sticky lacing. The aroma is sour fruit and bready malt. Thin mouthfeel with a dry fruit flavor and light bitter finish. A decent ESB from Laughing Dog.
3.4 Deep coppery color with a light tan head. Punchy, with a balance of malt and hops. Earthy, smooth, with a strong finish and full body. Nuts, toffee, caramel, citrus zest, and malt.
3.3 Warm copper, with a slightly off white head. Sweet malt and spicy hops in the nose. Nutty malt in the middle followed by more spicy hop flavor. Finish shows some alcohol. Decent beer.
3.3 Brownish amber with a one-finger tan head that left ok lace. Aromas of toasted malt, over-ripe dark fruit, toffee and gentle spiciness. Flavors are similar, and include a gentle grassy/piney hops bitterness to fill out the malt sweetness. Light to medium body, strong carbonation, and a dry bready finish.
3.5 Clear, dark amber with an off-white head that leaves a bit of lacing. Aroma of toffee, dough, and a hint of citrus. The taste is crisp malts with a slight, but nice, bitterness. Medium bodied and crisp, finishing a little bitter, with a moderate carbonation. Good ESB.
3.8 A surprisingly enjoyable beer. I really hadn’t expected much from this, however it was a good ESB. Lightly toasted malts with a bread-like mouthfeel, a bit of citrus in the finish that added some balance.
3.3 nice copper pour with a thin cream head. nose is doughy malts, with a citrus kick. easy on the palate, a little thin for an esb, light roasted malt flavor, caramel, and a bitter/citrusy finish.
3.5 Pours a clear copper, almost ruby. Off-white head dissipates too quickly. Malty, flinty smell. MILDLY vanilla or cookie-dough kinda smell. Fig Newtony, maybe? Medium mouth that feels a little chewy. Definitely malt forward, biscuity with slight hops and bitterness in the finish. Pretty good. May reach for this one again.
