3.7 Pours a clear dark gold color. It has nice lacing and a frothy bit of head retention. Has a malty aroma with hints of rye bread with it. Tastes like rye and malt. A good, solid rye beer!
3.5 Bottle split with Leighton at Tampa Airport landside @clearing space in the baggage mini tasting, 22/02/15. Clear golden topped with a decent off white swirl. Nose is rye bread, pine, mandarin, citric pith. Taste comprises pine needle, light grapefruit, bitter citric peel, straw, light bread dough. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with hop bitterness. Ok IPA.
3.5 Bottle shared at Tampa airport. Pours clear yellow with a frothy white head. The nose has some piney spice, pale bread. Medium sweet flavor with a bit of zesty grapefruit, pine needles, dry pale bread. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Finishes with more zesty citrus, spicy rye, pine needles, mild boozy warmth. Not bad.
4.2 Lemony aroma. Bubbly orange pour with lots of white head. Citrusy, resiny front end. Nice example of the style.
2.5 Rated on 4-29-2013 (Bottle) The appearance is a large white head, hazy yellow body, very fizzy, fast rising carbonation, and spotty amounts of lacing. The aroma is bready malt, rye, spicy, pine, grassy hops. The flavor is sweet, lightly bitter, lightly spicy, pine hops, and acidic. The mouthfeel is soft carbonation and this beer is light bodied. This beer’s aroma is better than its flavor. The flavor has a very weird taste for the beer style and possibly lightly infected?
3.7 light dry fair amount of rye. Modestly bitter. Balanced and highly enjoyable、.
3.1 From the 650 ml. bottle. Way old. Bottled 3/7/13. How did I not see that at the store? The pour is an unfiltered pale yellow but the fluffy, white head is ridiculous. I had to pour it into two glasses as the foam just spilled out of the bottle. The aroma was mildly hopped with a nice toasted biscuit note. At least that is what I could get through the foam that was tickling my nose. The body is medium or better. The taste was moderately hopped but there was a sort of buttery sensation in there as well. This gets pretty good ratings but since my bottle was 18 months old I didn’t get it in its prime. My bad.
3.4 Bottled. Dark amber with a pillowy head. Pretty intense rye character and a solid dose of hops. Good.
3.6 22 oz bottle. Cloudy pale orange, with a thick, long lasting white head and sticky lace. Tropical fruit aroma, mango and pineapple, some citrus, rye. Flavor has some spicy notes, along with some tropical and citrus hops.
3.4 Pours cloudy reddish brown, aroma of rope tropical fruit. Mango, papaya, hoppy malty stuff. Tasty.
3.8 Pours cloudy light yellow. Aroma, spicy almost Brett like?, some perceptible hop aroma. Nice smooth start, backing into hop flavor and touch bitterness. Flavor seems Brett like, too. Nice spicy note with a great balance with hop flavor. Quite a nice IPA, rye or not. Smooth and balanced for IPA, nice citrus notes, pretty subdued. Need to drink more rye pas apparently. Solid!
3.2 "This beer would have some serious potential fresh. Not sure of the age on my bottle, but you could tell it had sat for at least a little while. Pine peeeent but more muted than expected. Spicy and malty sweet, chewy body. Bittersweet spicy finish."
3.0 Savannah, Ga - Habersham Beverage Warehouse - Abercorn - 22 oz bomber. Pours a slightly murky dark orange with an overabundant foamy white head - some quality problems it seems. Light spruce notes in the aroma, a touch of rye-like mint. Flavor s decent with some light citrus bitterness, a touch or rye-like mintiness, just a touch of white grapes. Mouthfeel has a decent thickness to it, but the annoying pour knocks it down a point.
4.0 cloudy amber color; citrusy hop aroma with rye notes; citrusy, grassy hop flavor with a smooth rye malt background
3.9 On tap at The Underground, pours a clear golden copper with a small white head. Aroma brings out lots of citrus, with secondary notes of rye. Flavour brings out loads of resinous hops, loads of pine, and moderate rye. The rye isn’t overdone, with a very medium body. Very piney and delicious IPA.
4.0 Bottle. Pours fairly pale yellow with white head. Nose is grapefruit with rye spice. More grapefruit in the taste.
3.7 Bottle, golden pour with a slight cloudiness to it, minimal head about a fingers worth. Aroma, nice hop presence but not overpowering, some mild citrus notes a bit of pine and some sweet malt. Taste, bitter up front, smooth and not as dry as I was expecting, light grains and a nice malty sweet finish. Really like this, very well balanced, not really anything that overpowers, well done!
3.5 651 ml. bottle. Bottled 7/23/13. Pours a medium well retained off white head, with extensive Belgian lacing, over a slightly hazy, light fold (SRM 4) body....nose is light pine, resin, floral honey, hints of cereal....taste is moderately sweet, with light cocoa hints, light rye spice, stronger resin, pine, citrus hints, finishing with a moderate bitterness.....mouth feel, medium body, slight acid, carbonation adds light spritz.. This is a lighter IPA, with the rye not overly present, bitterness constrained, but all in all well balanced. It might be that this bottle is a bit too old. BJCP 8/3/14/4/6
3.3 Kind of a sharp cheese aroma. A bit od bitterness and caramel in the flavour. Not bad.
3.5 Taste is very bready. It has a nice amount of hops. Light citrus aftertaste. This is an easy IPA to take down. ---Rated via Beer Buddy
3.3 Very nice citrus aroma that mixes with some nice malt. Alcohol is a little too prominent in this one though, and takes away from overall taste. Finishes with medium bitterness. Pours clear orange without much head or lacing. On cask at Churckkey.
3.5 cloudy golden ale with nice head. Good drinking IPA. A good beer and easy drinking.
3.6 Rating #879 - January 4, 2013 - 650ml bottle at Metro, 6.9%. This was a deep coppery brown coloured pour with a mild tan foam that faded to a ring. Nose was peach, mandarin orange. Mild alcohol warmth and carbonation.Taste is a mild peppery smokiness from the rye grain, mild toffee and caramel malt sweetness, but a boatload of hop punches, citrusy, grassy. Finishes smooth, nice bitterness.
3.9 Hooray! There’s a date on this bottle!!! Bottled 01MAR12 Pours a light golden beer with a frothy white quilt and excellent clarity. Nose is bursting with tropical fruits of mango, pineapple and then grapefruit comes through slightly sweetened by the malt. Nice nose. Medium bitterness with plenty of fruity hops and some hints of dry and sweet malts. Again, well played Laughing Dog. Medium bodied with moderate carb and a semi dry finish. Man, I always avoided my local, because they haven’t dated their beers. I have a friend that brews for them and even so, I’ve steered clear unless he’s brought it strait from the brewery. I can this, of the beers I’ve had of theirs, when they’re fresh, they are really, really nice. Hope to see more of this behavior. Serving type: bottle 03-25-2012
3.7 22oz bottle. Hazy like a here with thick clean white head. Even with significant hop scents and taste this beer had a strong biscuity, bready taste up front with just a hint of the rye spice I was expecting. The rye is there but this could easily be enjoyed by someone who is not a fan of rye bread because it is not dominating. Hops bring serious citrus zest without a puckering bitterness.
3.5 Golden and cloudy with a thick white head. Bottled on 5/25/12 but it still has a fresh taste. Citrusy and hoppy but not too overwhelming.
3.8 Aroma:Fresh citrus aroma, very fresh Taste:strong hoppy raste that leaves the cascadian bitterness at finish Appearance: Typical IPA cloudy gold body with lace head that persists
3.8 650ml bottle, cloudy gold-orange hue, with a thick white head, with a nice pale, toasted, munich, rye malty nose, with some light candied grapefruit, lemon peel, bread crumbs notes, and some yeasty, doughy, lemon pie crust, mild floral citrus, leafy hop, panettone cake accents in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a very yeasty, doughy, fruity lemon marmalade, candied lemon, grapefruit peel, lemon pie crust character, with some flowery leafy, grassy, citrus hoppy, rye breadiness, toffee, toasted, pale malt flavours, with a candyish lemon lollipop, honey granola bar undertone, leading towards a yeasty, doughy, candied lemon, grapefruit peel, honeyed rye, bready, pale, toasted maltiness, lingering a leafy, citrus hop bitterness finish.
3.8 Bottle..Pour is golden with a thin white head..Nose is grapefruit, spicy rye, yeast, mango..Taste is mango, grapefruit, spice, tropical fruits, dry.
4.4 Bottled 2/27/13. Lots oh head nice cloudy appearance lots of citrus aroma. Nice grapefruit and slight piney flavour. Very easy to drink. Lovely
