Lausitzer Porter

Lausitzer Porter

Even in 1895, Porter was brewed from the mountain spring in Löbau, and it was a beloved drink in the Lausitz. With our Lausitzer Porter, we successfully continue this brewing tradition. Across the land, the legendarily sweet taste of this unique dark beer has found friends among connoisseurs of dark brews.

2.4 Lübeck 16/4 2019. 50 cl bottle from Rewe, Sandstrasse, Lübeck. Black label with a mysterious red dot and two hard working fellows carrying a barrel of beer (Porter I presume). Pours clear, dark Maroon with a small white head. Settles as patchy layer of foam unable to cover the surface of the beer. Very moderate Lacing. Aroma is fairly sweet with a medium strong, citric sourness lurking in the background. Caramel and brown sugar partly balanced by lemonade-ish citrus. Light carbonation. Quite thin, oily, almost flat texture. Flavor has strong sweetness bordering on being sugary. Followed by a more moderate, medium strong sour bitterness. Lingers for surprisingly short while. Very sweet but lacks some depth and density. A little odd but strangely refreshing citric edge.
Sonst nichts. Geschmack: Mit viel Wasser verdünntes Malzbier. Metallisch. Etwas Ahornsirup.
2.6 Sampled from 0.5 l bottle, best before June 2019. Clear, deep ruby with a thin, frothy, almost stable, off-white head. Very faint, sweetish-malty aroma of caramel. Quite sweet, malty, moderately bitter taste of mainly caramel with some burnt sugar and traces of licorice, followed by a short, moderately bitter, a little metallic finish. Thin to medium body, slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Pretty bland but drinkable.
2.8 Bottle - Darkish brown with initial thick slightly pink head. Sweet berries aroma. Ok mouthfeel. Very berry tasting but not as sweet as initial aroma. Not a porter at all - a fruit beer all round - sweet but drinkable.
1.2 Sorry, but this so-called porter is a joke, right? I could excuse the fact that you can actually see through it - but the aroma is just flat malt, and the taste is water, sugar and the faintest ghost of something that might have been bitter when it was alive.
2.2 Geruch muffig, leicht süßlich fruchtig. Antrunk malzig, sehr süß. Die Schaumkrone fällt sehr schnell ein. Man schmeckt ein bisschen den Hopfenextrakt raus. Leicht muffiges Aroma, leicht bitterer Abgang.
0.5 The taste is not bad, but I found it way too sweet.
3.4 Bottle from REWE in Dresden. One of these beer that has a bad reputation so everyone rates it low. There's nothing wrong with it at all from an off-flavour perspective. It could use more body and malt back to round out the taste, but it's certainly not bad.
2.3 Clear amber color with tiny head. Aroma of malt and dark berries. Taste is heavy sweet. Not too syrupy, but I would prefer less sweetness. Low carbonation and sweet finish.
2.1 13-07-18 // taster at Bierbörse Mainz 2018. Black coloured. Sweet malty, too sweet. Not my kind of beer. Crappy review btw.
2.9 Zu süß
2.3 Fles 50cl thuis. Zoet, beetje kleffig. (8-2013).-----------------------------.
0.9 Piwo klarowne, przejrzyste o ciemnej barwie. Piana słaba, szybko opada. W aromacie palony karmel, coca-cola.
1.6 From 0.5 L bottle. Very sweet, malty. Medium body. Light to average carbonation.
1.9 Butelka. Piana obfita, kremowa, drobnopęcherzykowa, opada do warstwy, koronkowania brak. Barwa brązowa, klarowne. Aromat średnio intensywny, karmel i coca cola. Goryczka niska.
2.8 Deep brown. Super strong cherry aroma. Taste is also cherry, but it’s aggressively sweet.
1.9 Sweet, malty, not exactly top-class among available Porters. I anyway prefer the more savory Schwarzbier.
2.0 500 ml bottle at the train to Budapest. Black with beige head. Aroma and taste is sweet as hell, sugar, syrup, roasted notes, slight coffee with a sweet finish
1.7 Kolor ciemny, bordowy, sprawia wra?enie czarnego, klatowny.
1.8 duft: malt karamel svag malt sødme smag: malt malt sød. vanilje kant rosin karamle lidt for sød til min smag
2.0 What is this? They call it a Porter but it isn´t. It looks like Coca Cola and smells like caramel and malt, but the taste is like liquid malt drops. Way too sweet and just weird.
1.6 0,5 l Flasche. Aroma: malzig süß, erdig. Erscheinung: schwarzes Bier mit rotem Schimmer, flacher, cremefarbener Schaum, kaum Gardine. Geschmack: eigentlich nur süß. Nachgeschmack: künstlich süß. Gesamt: wie ein schlechtes Malzbier.
1.2 Bottle shared. Dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma of wort, cardboard and sweet malt. Flavour is heavy sweet, real sugary crap. Light medium bodied with soft carbonation. Dreadful.
2.1 Bad porter. Too sweet, almost like drinking sweet water. Drinkable though. Will not buy again.
3.4 At Bamberger hofbrau. thanks to the guy behind the bar for this off the menu beer. Black beer, medium head. Aroma is malt, caramel, sweet. Taste is the same, porter, no?, tasteful, yes
2.1 Aroma; roasted malts, mild prune, grass, dough, cola, raisin. Look; ultra dark brown body with ruby edge, pale beige head. Taste; roasted malts, sweet soft hops, prune, light chocolate, raisin, sugar - leading to a sweet pruney finish. Feel; soft-soft, fizzless. Overall; ultrasoft easy-porter, almost soft drink. Not directly bad, but lacks necessary fizz and has too much sugar, making it way too sugar-sweet but not helping the body. [50cl.btl abv4.4% BB.19.01.17]
1.0 No information about the hops, malts and drinktemperature on the labels or bottle. Clear black beer with a very short cream-colored head, light red, smell is light malty, very heavy sweet, thin, watery, you can not feel the yeast, is more a sweet soft drink, (I have 0.33l bottle with best-before 01.02.2017 16:50)
