3.8Thick, heavy, malty sweetness comingles with the considerable west coast hops. The 8% abv is well hidden. This is good, but not at all like the newer breed of juicier, mellower DIPAs.
4.0Taster pour on tap at NH Brewfest. Appearance is lightly hazy piss yellow (not unattractive--almost highlighter yellow) with light sparkle, thin covering of white foamy head. Aroma is very strong citrus, grapefruit, pine. Taste is like aroma--strong grapefruit, with piney resin bitterness, less citrus. Mouthfeel is light-to-medium bodied with thin, smooth, frothy texture, lively kick of carbonation at the end and finish as taste with a lingering piney resin bitterness. Overall, it's strong all around--strong aroma and flavor and you can tell there's some booze here but not harsh. 4.0 ish
3.916 oz. can poured a hazy orange with a small lasting creamy ivory head. Aromas of biscuit, dankness, pine, light orange zest and light grapefruit. Palate was light to medium bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of biscuit, pine, orange zest and light grapefruit with a crisp dry lingering bitter finish.
4.116 oz. can from Brewery (also sampled at Brewery): this one pours a cloudy slightly orange tinted golden color. Minimal head and lacing. The nose is good. A mixture of many hops with none overpowering the other. Tropical, pine, citrus and some floral/herb notes. A little muted from what I expected. The taste is wonderful. A plethora of different hops, all well balanced against one another. Some dank hops, with tropical, pine, citrus and maybe a bit of some herb flavors. Now real sweetness to this, just a bit of a dank hop bite. A really excellent beer.
3.9Sampled at Great American Beer Festival 2019 in Denver, Colorado. Hoppy, tropical, smooth, sweet.
4.4Draft at brewery. Pours golden with a white head. Leaves some lacing in the glass. Lovely citrus and pine notes on the nose and tongue. Finished clean. Super crushable.
3.5On tap at the GABF 2019. It pours very pretty but it quite hoppy for my tastes. Maybe not the best time to score it after drinking a few imperial stouts?
3.5Orange-gold pour. Character of orange, caramel and hay. Delicious and summery. Like the triple sunshine but less intense and chewy.
4.316 oz can as a gift from friend. Nice malt backbone with a Hail Mary of hops. Nice crisp and clean. Perfect beer.
4.5DATE: September 26, 2019... OCCASION: drinking this in honor of a friend and beer companion who left our school for retirement to Vermont...thanks for introducing me to this and many other fine beers from and around the state... GLASSWARE: Duvel tulip... pours a picture-perfect orange amber body rife with effervescence... its head, a snowy peak of firm foam that settles into solar flares of ululance... how big can an aroma be? berry, lemon, mango, grapefruit, lush pine cone, pepper, garden herbs, dank basement, and a slight boozy conclusion... juicy draw, with a sip worth chewing... the teeth absorb what must be an 80+ IBU impact; its body couches arrogantly on the tongue; balanced and full in its finish, lasting if not resounding a half minute after its leaving... its presence evokes a bourbon, but its bite is more like a friendly embrace... BIG pine flavor, resin dripping and gum-splitting juiciness, with the citric shine blaring lemon, grapefruit, and other tropical rinds... this is brilliant, a beer that could be the companion for an entire evening, weighty but smooth, rewarding and flavorful... this is a perfect sendoff to Jeff, whose intellectual and pragmatic balance will be sorely missed in our neck of the woods..... thank you for sharing your gifts with us, and God bless, friend...
3.5Sort of a pale, if dullish, amber, with a thin head. The hops are bright and tropical. Mild bitterness, with a solid papaya note, pretty solid stuff, maybe a touch overripe.
4.0Tap at the brewery. Pretty similar to the Sip of Sunshine, maybe a little Danker/more resinous. Much like SoS it's more filtered than I was expecting. Definitely juicy but still more American IIPA than NEIPA. Smooth, boozy, bitter. Pretty excellent.
4.016oz can. Poured a golden color with a medium sized head. Citrus, floral / pine, and some juicy fruits.
3.5Can at Bru Craft. Mostly yellow gold with nice off-white foam. Big sweaty minerally DIPA. Bittersweet orange. Pine. Papaya. Guava. Grapefruit. Sugary sweet. Things to love, things to fear. Definitely big. Not bad at all but realizing I'm a low outlier for how this beer has been rated.
4.3Can from brewery. Pours clear gold lots of frothy head and lacing. Notes of grapefruit, pine, some orange. Taste medium/big bitter light sweet. Full sticky body lively carbonation.
4.2THT April. Can. Clear golden with white head. Sweet malts, dense with hops, nettly, floral, oniony, heavenly water. Goddamn this is great. Moderate sweet and a nice bitter. Medium body and soft carbonation.
4.0Sampled at THT April. Slight hazy yellow golden with small white head. Dank sweet tropical fruit juice goodness, sweet malts and honey, orange, pineapple, funky pinions and white cheese, guava. Quite sweet but a nice bitterness too. Almost full bodied.
4.2Clear golden to light orange colored appearance with a white head. Aroma of juicy hops, tropical fruit, fresh herbs, mild citrus zest and lightly toasted grains. Similar flavor, hoppy, zesty and herbal with mild to moderate hop bitterness balanced by a light juicy/malty sweetness. Medium plus body with a lingering and enjoyable finish. Nice.
4.3Clear golden with a soapy white head. Aroma is very floral, potted plants, some pine, some citrus, and hemp. Taste is medium sweet and heavy bitter.
4.6Tropical fruit and pine. Almost clear honey gold with a thick foamy white head. Good retention. Settles down to a quarter inch and a fair amount of lacing. Chewy. Bright. Fruity. Crisp. Just a trace of funk and a hint of earth. Sweet on the back end then a whisper of warmth in the throat. Fantastic.
4.1Pours deep slightly hazed gold into a shaker. Bright white head with excellent retention recedes leaving spider lacing. Bread, mango and pine aromas. Soft adn clean with pine and pith upfront turning to hot caramel and summer pit fruit bfore returning to resin and pith in the lasting finish.
4.0Can thanks to Nic! Pours clear orange with a small white head. Aromas of pine, malt, light caramel, orange, mandarin, citrus, melon. Taste has lots of melony notes, light malt, bitter, piney, orange, mandarin. Oldschool but delicious!
4.5Tasted from can. Pours slightly hazy amber orange with thick white rocky head. Aroma is tangerine and citrus notes. Taste is moderately to heavily bitter. Citrus flavors along with caramel, a little dankiness. Excellent ipa.
Assez old school mais intéressante.
4.1Pours hazy golden with a white head. Tangerine citrus aroma with dank hops. Flavor is ripe tropical fruit with tangerine and citrus zest finish. Fantastic! Thanks DSandonato.
3.7On tap at brewery. Pours gold with a small white head. Aroma is herbal hops, pine, caramel, and grapefruit. Taste is pine and citrus with biscuit, herbal hops, caramel, and a touch of mango. Medium body. Moderate carbonation. Creamy mouthfeel. Very well balanced.
4.1Can shared by oRos. Pours funky gold with a nice off-white head and a dank citrus aroma. There is a near full-bodied pale malt flavor with a smooth fairly bitter citrus finish.
3.9Pours an only slightly hazy, golden yellow, with smallish head. Strong, dank aroma (almost acrid). Loads of citrus and pine/spruce notes. Flavor is also quite bitter, with grass and pine/spruce flavors dominating. Some citrus, some breadiness, with a slight sweetness and a fairly bitter finish. More in a West Coast style, but really well-done nevertheless.
