Lazy Magnolia Indian Summer

Lazy Magnolia Indian Summer

Indian Summer is a light profile American-style wheat ale spiced with Orange Peel and Coriander. Our recipe uses a mix of wheat and pale barley. This beer is very lightly hopped to allow the spices to shine through. Clean fermenting yeast produce a very dry, crisp base to further accentuate the spices. The aroma has a distinct citrus note without being overly fruity.

2.7 No date on this one. A: Pours a light golden honey ale with excellent clarity. Less than single finger loose soap sud head dissipates nearly immediately and Faint sheen of the same is leftover. No lacing. S: Cardboard, rose, clove, carapils nose. Fairly simple, not impressive, but not bad either. T: Quite sweet. Almost a sweet tea flavor to this. Orange pekoe, stevia, honey, and hints of clove in the far reaches. M: Medium light body with medium carbonation. Decent feel. No resonance. Good for the style I would argue. O: Average kinda beer. Can see why I would drink this without end on a hot and humid southern day. Great for sessioning, but loses points for originality - fairly simple. Serving type: bottle 03-22-2011
2.9 Albany, Ga. - Warehouse Package Store - 12 oz bottle. Hazy medium golden pour, pillowy white head, nice lacing. Lemony aroma with some yeasty accents. Flavor has a touch of cloves, some yeasty notes, a splash of lemon. Mouthfeel is smooth. Not bad.
1.9 12 oz bottle. BB 12/19/12. (Marcello’s Wine) Lafayette, LA. Clear pale golden colour with a small white head. Mild malt and mild wheat in a weak aroma. Mild fruitiness and mild malt in the flavour. Mild. Tasteless. Watery. A real disappointment.
3.2 This is hands down my favorite beer from Lazy Magnolia. It hits the rights combination for carbonation that makes wheat ales so amazing. Light in body it flows easily down the throat not stinging like beers that higher in carbonation, however it is also is light in flavor. In the first drinks I thought it was hiding it’s flavors and waiting for a third of the drink to be finished before appearing. Sadly it didn’t. The light flavor that is there is smooth with a very mild fruity taste very similiar to a Blue Moon. Overall a drink worth trying and retrying for that matter in warm weather.
2.3 Bottle. Has a light wheat aroma. The taste is mellow, with a wheat and citric flavor. Overall this is pretty bland but not bad, could be an easy-to-sip, sessionable beer. 4.8% alcohol.
2.2 Thanks to Brad for sending this out my way. Tick. The beer is golden hued with a thin, fleeting white head. the aroma offers sweet malt, grain, ripe fruit. Sweet and cloying with fairly low carbonation. Not something I would try more than once. Lacking wheat and hop character. Bland. No fun.
2.7 12oz bottle. Poured a clear yellow-orange color without much of a head. Aroma was some sweet honey wheat notes. Flavor was sweet honey notes. Okay.
3.0 Pours a golden straw color with no head at all, smells of citrus and but of malt, nothing really jumps out from this beer. Taste kinda bland very mild citrusy hops with a tiny bit of spice and bit of malt. It is an okay beer nothing really special
2.7 Pours clear gold with a tall, off-white head. Wheat, lemony/citrus scent. Taste is very light lemon, wheat. Fairly run of the mill, but not bad.
3.7 Great wheat beer for a warm day. I would recommend to anyone who likes a good heffeweis.
2.8 Bottle. Light citrusy wheat malt aroma. Slightly hazed straw gold with a large white head. Light tart wheat flavor and a little band-aid. Light, slightly over carbonated body.
2.4 Bottle. Lemon, coriander, and wheat malt aroma. Golden yellow with a large head initially but fades quickly. Lightly sweet lemon and wheat malt flavor. Okay but pretty bland.
3.6 12oz bottle shared. poured a hazy yellow with white head. i am a sucker for summer wheat beers. i truly like them. nice wheat aroma and flavor. the flavor had a bit of a citrus and mild spice to is...set it right. not much carbonation. good summer beer
2.7 Bottle. Pours hazy gold and instantly smells skunky...but not a freshness problem kind of skunky....like a just bad mix of aromas. Taste is literally slightly yeasty water. So I guess it’s kind of refreshing? meh.
2.9 Appearance: clear gold color, medium size off white head Aroma: orange, coriander, lemon, spice, Taste: orange, malty, Palate: frothy in the mouth, no aftertaste, low c02 Overall: highly drinkable, not very complex
3.4 From bottle. Pours hazy yellow with medium head. Aroma is wheat, malt and citrus. Taste followed but on thinner side of a wheat. Very refreshing and less spice then normal wheats.
3.3 12 oz. bottle from Kyle. Thanks dude! It pours a deep yellow color with a disappearing fizzy white head. The aroma has lots of wheat and bread crust. That’s about it. The flavor is mildly tart and bready. High carbonation and a nice wheat bread finish. Virtually no hops. Very refreshing. Great example of an American wheat ale.
3.3 A slightly better than average American wheat. Very light on the spicing, slightly watery, but on a hot day, there’s nothing better. Its too bad it was cold outside...
2.7 12 oz bottle - pale yellow with a minimal white head. Definite coriander aroma. A tiny bit of orange, too. Tastes pretty much like it smells. Not bad, but not great, either.
2.4 Lazy Magnolia Indian Summer has an extremely thick, off-white head, a hazy, yellow-golden appearance, with bountiful tiny streaming bubbles, and a bit of lacing left on the glass. The aroma is of faint malt, sweetness, and citrus. Taste is predominately tap water with a shade of lemon juice. There really isn’t much else with this, sadly. No off-flavors, though. Mouthfeel is light to medium, and Lazy Magnolia Indian Summer finishes crisp and watery. Overall, this is dull, watery, and limpid. I rate low average. Blah. RJT
3.8 Obviously this just hit my spot much more so than other raters. Tasted from a 12oz brown bottle into a tulip. Thanks gregwilsonstl. Golden light amber color, thin persistent layer of white bubbles, some yeast and chill haze. Aromas of sweet malt, mellow wheat, orange zest, some pepper spice from coriander, hops, and Belgian wit yeast. Flavor was crisp, tart, white bread, light body, spritzy carbonation, lingering bittersweet aftertaste. Tasty, refreshing, true-to-style Belgian wit. I wish I had a couple more of these on this hot summer afternoon.!
3.3 Light dry refreshing drink. A bit of an effervescent mouth feel and nice spice. Perfect summer drink.
2.6 12 ounce bottle - $1.99 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia. There’s a bottle date code, but it’s nearly an inch off, smudged, and illegible. Lazy Lazy Magnolia. Appearance: Pours a not quite clear, yellow body with a white head that dissipates in mere seconds. Smell: The spicing of coriander and the citrus peel come through clearly over the bland, light, lackluster maltiness. Taste: Light pale malted barley and wheat with mild sweetness adhered to it. With little character or flavor to the malts, the spicing just rides on through with a clear taste of both coriander and orange peel. Dry, moderately spicy finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body, but not quite watery. Medium-plus carbonation. Overall: Unforatunely, it’s one of those beers that’s instantly forgetta--wait, what were we talking about??
2.3 Light straw...hazy. no head. Crane flavor, coriander. A lot of carbonation. Pretty normal.
2.1 Bottle. Pours orange with a quarter inch of white foam. Slight medicinal vibe on the nose. There’s some coriander on the tongue but it needs balance with something else. Finishes clean. Not their best effort.
3.0 Golden color with a white head. Aroma contains some lemons and grassy notes. Flavor is somewhat sour with some citrus, spices, coriander. Refreshing cause its hot. Above avg for this crapo style.
3.4 Clear honey gold with a nice glow. High, but not excessive carbonation. The aroma is a slight bit of honey malt with the witbier spicing coming through nicely. Actually a very nice nose. It’s good that they didn’t call this a witbier on the label. It’s not dry enough, really. It’s a bit too malty for that style. As a spiced wheat beer, it’s not bad.
2.8 Middle of the road wheat beer. Standard wheat aroma. Nice coriander and orange flavor over a wheat backbone. Light carbonation and watery mouthfeel. Drinkable, and nothing special.
3.3 Distinct orange flavor dominates the initial taste, but the tart flavor is subtly balanced with the light hop and sweet aftertaste. A good summer beer.
4.7 This is my favorite beer from Lazy Magnolia. You can really taste the orange and coriander in here. It’s clean, crisp, and refreshing. I love, love, love it.
