Lazy Magnolia Southern Pecan

Lazy Magnolia Southern Pecan

Southern Pecan Nut Brown Ale is the first beer in the world, to our knowledge, made with whole roasted pecans. The pecans are used just like grain and provide a nutty characteristic and a delightful depth to the flavor profile. This beer is very lightly hopped to allow the malty, caramel, and nutty flavors shine through. The color is dark mahogany. Southern Pecan won a Bronze Medal in the 2006 World Beer Cup in the Specialty Beer category.

3.4 zapach raczej delikatny, ale przyjemny, ciepły, lekki karmel, brązowy cukier, trochę przypieczonego chleba, lekkie słodkie orzechy gdzieś w tle, może odrobina melasy. wszystko delikatne i dobrze zmieszane. kolor miedziany, klarowny, piana jasnobeżowa, średnio obfita, niespecjalnie trwała. w smaku pełne, okrągłe, ale delikatne, świeże kruche ciastka, pekany, lekki orzech włoski, brązowy cukier, jasny karmel, karmelowe słody. goryczka niska, karmelowa, bardzo lekko podpiekana. bardzo lekkie mimo dość konkretnych smaków. nasycenie umiarkowane
2.4 Pours dark with a frothy beige head....from here it goes downhill in a hurry. Nutty metal aroma. Some peanuttiness rolls back, but also some stale cardboard. Light coffee, little pecan, uninspiring.
4.4 One of the best beers I ever TrueType enjoyed, I’m not a huge fan of beer but found this to be just what I’ve been looking for! I also like Blue Moons smooth taste with a slice of lemon and a fewv hard apple ciders. But southern Pecan beats them all forme!
2.9 From weihenweizen: pours light brown with quickly dissipating head. Not much of a looker really. Aroma is mild pecan and caramelized sugar. Taste is sweet m, low hoppiness, not as nutty as I would have liked. I also like pecans a lot. Meh.
4.6 My go to Friday afternoon brown ale. The pecan taste is very light and in its 12 oz bottle it’s just the thing to start a weekend.
3.4 Bottle from beer of the month club. Clear light brown color with a thin off white head. Nutty, some toffee, bit of caramel. Smooth, clean, soft. Solid.
2.9 No distinct nut brown or pecan flavor
2.9 12 oz. bottle, courtesy of Andrew (thanks man!), my last state to tick - pours a hazy dark amber brown with a small beige head. Aroma brings out toasted pecans, with some caramel and bready malt. Flavour is along the same lines, with toasted pecans, with maple syrup, and bready caramel. Oily and sweet, without any depth. Not too special.
3.0 Moderat würziger, dunkel herber Beginn. Weiche geringe Röstigkeit, steigend malzig. Mittellanger Abgang. Okay! 9/9/10/9//9
3.0 24-11-18 // country tick share with Koelschtrinker and Beerhunter. Sample thanks to jtclockwork! Mississipi - State Tick - clear brown. Mild nutty aromas. Mild to medium sweet malty. Mild rosted malts. Solid.
3.5 @todd English PUB Birmingham. Pours reddish chestnut white lace. Aroma nutty malt and fruity hops.. Taste is medium sweet to bitter. Palate is medium bodied, oily texture, average carbonation and a soft bitter finish. A good use for pecans
3.2 12 oz bottle in the hotel. Pours a clear watery brown with a decent tan pillowy head. Nice appetizing aroma of pecan, cashew, some vanilla, some milk chocolate. Taste is a little watery but nice smooth mouthfeel, an easy drinker.
3.4 Clear caramel colour, white head. Aroma of caramel, pecan, nuts. Sweet malty flavour, caramel. Finish caramel, malts. (from 355mL bottle @ NJ tasting, Oct '18, Jtclockwork's place. Thanks for sharing, James!)
3.8 Pours a clear dark brown with a thin off-white head. Aroma is very inviting. Sweet pecans and malt. Nice bright palate with lots of carbonation. Flavor is light and sweet. Pecans, caramel, and malt. There’s just a hint of a hop bite at the end. Very enjoyable.
3.2 12 oz. bottle purchased at Sidney's in New Orleans. Poured dark amber, off white head. Aroma of pecan, nut, caramel. Taste was sweet, pecan, malt, toffee, caramel, thin.
3.0 Bottle at d.b.a., New Orleans. Aroma is brown malts with caramel and notes of pecan nuts. Sweetish and light bitter flavour, body is almost medium. Rudimentary but a bit nutty indeed, still I would have liked a heavier pecan aroma. Decent.
4.1 Love it
1.1 Found in bottle at ingles in Franklin, NC. I may have had a bad bottle but I did not find this one enjoyable or even really drinkable. Too many flavors that are not well mixed or put together. Maybe best in fall but wouldn't recommend it.
3.2 At first I wasn't too impressed with this. Hardly noticed the pecan, and it just seemed like an average beer with a little bit of flavor added. By the time I finished I had tastes of pecan pie.....nutty caramel flavors. Still, a slightly above average nut brown, but may go other routes in the future. Has a light brown/amber appearance. A thin, drinkable daytime beer.
3.2 12oz bottle at home, pours an amber color with a thin white head. The aroma is strong sweet pecan. The flavor is sweet with some nutty flavors. Not too strong of a flavor though, it's a decent brown ale
3.3 Pours up a dark amber color with a frothy tan head. Aroma is mostly caramel and somewhat earthy. Taste is caramel malt up front with the nuts becoming more noticeable during the finish. Mild hop presence creeps in. Body is light. Overall, nice.
3.3 No date notches on the bottle label. Pours a beautiful clear amber with a massive deep ruby tint. Outstanding head volume and lacing, very good retention. Typical nose for a brown ale. It is slightly sweet with a hint of caramel. It has a nutty aspect but the aroma isn't yelling pecans - it is undetermined. No hop presence. Overall, the aroma is very good. Light body that is very similar to water in texture, just slightly more smooth. The carbonation / body balance is quite outstanding. The middle presents a nice burst of effervescence that is finally bubbled, prickly and tickles the tongue. The finish kicks it up a notch providing a rollicking finale. The flavor profile is good. It is very well balanced, intensity is very good (it delivers flavor) but lacks complexity and depth. While tasty, it is somewhat of a bland 2 trick pony. Nothing exciting here. It consists of a light nut flavor over a slightly sweet base. Pecans and caramel aren't really discernible. Very little bitterness is present and no hop flavor. The finish is a slow fade.
3.2 Bottle [from trade with Jtclockwork, thanks James, my last missing US state!!] @ tasting shared with Dutchdrebus and Joes. Clear amber color, average sized off-white head. Smell and taste malts, caramel, a bit sweet and nutty at the same time. Average body, thin texture, average carbonation.
3.0 Bottle @ joes. Amber colour with a small offwhite head. Smells maple syrup, spareribs, Rogue beer. Tastes very malty, unfermented, sweet. Medium body, soft carbo.
3.6 From Jan 2008 I got this bottle in a trade with Wasatch. Thanks John! It pours from 12oz bottle a clear deep amber with a nice 2 finger head of foam and lots of lacing. The smell is malty, nutty, and has some citrus hops there as well. The taste on first sip and I immediately notice the pecan influence. Nice. After another sip or 2, I get a good caramel malt backbone that works quite well with the nuttiness and I'm surprised at how good a mouthfeel this has...quite silky. It finishes with that citrus hop flavour that I noted in the smell. This is a very nice Brown Ale indeed and the foam does a pretty good job sticking around for the entire session. Bottom line: This is a well crafted example of the style and I really like how the pecan interacts with the other flavours. A very good session beer to boot!
4.0 I'm a boring beer drinker. Mostly I hate anything that isn't domestically mass produced. This is the first craft type beer I've liked. Bravo.
4.3 Very smooth creamy flavor, allows the patron to enjoy more than one since it is not a heavy beer. On tap at the Clinton Elks Lodge, Clinton, Missouri
3.4 12oz btl from Kroger in Memphis. Golden brown color with slight head. Nutty aroma. Definite taste of pecans. Slightly bitter finish.
3.1 12 oz. bottle pours a clear reddish brown with small off-white head that fades quickly. Aroma is malty and nutty, with pecans, roasted malts, brown sugar, and vanilla. Taste is slightly sweet with a dry finish. Body is medium with slight carbonation and a syrupy mouthfeel.
3.3 It pours light brown with a light brown head. Head retention is moderately low. The beer is clear overall. It has aromas of roasted nuts, pecans, and caramel. There are some slight spicy elements in the background. There is a strong nut flavor that is highlighted by pecans. There are some elements of caramel and other nuts with light spice. It has a moderate body with a lightly bitter finish. Overall, this is a nutty beer with light spiciness.
