Le Trou du Diable L'Impératrice Brassin Spécial (Bourbon Américain)

Le Trou du Diable L'Impératrice Brassin Spécial (Bourbon Américain)

This imperial stout, aged in bourbon barrels, gives notes of roasted malt on a coffee, dark chocolate and caramel background. The velvety palate is sustained by a sagacious amount of alcohol warmth that give this beer the taste and feel of a fine spirit.

3.3 Tap at beerlovers bar. 2016 edition, 10 abv. Pours very dark brown, clear. Small white head. Side by side tasted with the bottle , also 20166 vintage. Bottle was a gusher. Smell is buttery bourbon, burnt grainyness, but not in a enjoyable way to me. Taste is sharp, bit bitter, bit sweet, rather dry, very much bourbon. Out of balance to me. Weak body. Dont love this one.
3.4 2012 bottle. Pours coffee with some initial fizzy head and no lacing. Nose is tart and bourbon. Flavour of vanilla, bourbon, apple, some sour cherry. Taste med sweet med bitter. Light body lively fizzy carbonation. Probably well past best before.
3.4 Mørk og fin i fargen, lukter svakt sitrus. Lakris dominerer både smak og ettersmaken, lang og behagelig ettersmak, muligens litt for mye kullsyre.
3.4 7-3-7-3-14 On tap @ What's Brewing 17. Pours black, with a creamy mocha head. Aroma is roasted malts with dark fruits, tobacco and muscovado, as well as wooden barrels. Medium body, with average carbonation. Flavour is dark roasted malts with fruity notes of tobacco and bourbon wooden barrels, as well as raisins and muscovado.
3.5 Black pour with a thick and frothy tan head and lots of rocky tan lacing ..... aroma of roasted malts, chocolate/cocoa, light coffee and vanilla ..... taste is of cocoa, coffee, roasted malts and vanilla .... smooth and roasted with lots of malt and over carbonated .... not really sure where the bourbon and oak are.... very stout ish .... some boozy bourbon and spice in the finish .... thin bodied .... has all the looks but falls short
4.3 A serious beer that you can go for when you need something good. A very tasteful experiment, a strong beer with the bourbon touch. Amazing.
3.2 Bottle via fb trade. Poured a thinner looking deep black with a larger foamy light beige head. Aroma of booze, wood, vanilla, bourbon, chocolate malts, dark toast, bitter, cocoa, earth, popcorn. Flavor of earth, chocolate, dark fruits, skins, malts, well done toast, hint of coffee and barrel. Body is medium and stronger fizzy carbonation.
4.0 Proefglas op BXLBeerFest. U: Zwart met een lichtbruine schuimkraag. G: Geroosterd, gedroogd fruit, koffie en alcohol. S: Zoet met een lichte moutbitterheid. Geroosterd, koffie, beetje gedroogd fruit. Alcoholwarmte. M: Volmondig, licht sticky en medium carbonatie.
3.7 Sampled at BXL. Dark pour with a tan head. Notes of roasted malts, oxidized fruit, dark chocolate, cocoa, bourbon, dried fruit. Full body, medium to full body, fruity bitter-sweet finish.
3.7 Dégustée à l'été 2016 sur place (De mes notes). .
3.6 750mL bottle from BoozeBud. Lot 160616 Get an odd pop on opening - first beer I’ve ever come across with the little plastic plug on the tirage cap - more akin to a sparkling wine. Anyway - presents very well - deep opaque black body, pours a big dark beige head with lingering lace. Sort of restrained aroma at first - actually a fair bit of hop - orange & pine - woody notes, toast, bourbon, leading onto a touch of charred character. Palate seems somewhat well attentuated - dry, a bit of acrid bite, doesn’t give away its strength yet oddly not big either. Sort of vinous more than anything else - black fruits, old barrel character, some blackened malt character, buttery bourbon notes, those citrus rind hops come through again, decent bitterness, but finish is a bit underwhelming for a big beer. Not enough body, doesn’t feel "stouty" enough overall - good, but pales in comparison to others.
3.1 Bottle @Pułapka, Gdańsk What the hell happened here. Aroma is a bit weak, with some strange scents and vanilla . Taste is caramely with something coffee and choco. Overall this beer is totally out of style. It would be a decent quad with all this caramel and dried fruit plus spiciness
3.6 750 ml. looks to have been bottled 24.04.2016. Mahogany pour with a lasting film of meringue. Nose is vanilla, coffee, roasted peanut and whiskey with hints of chocolate and oxidized apple. Initial flavors of vanilla, chestnut and whiskey are pretty mild. Later tastes of cherry, tobacco, coffee and cocoa are equally mild. Medium-heavy body has smooth low-medium carbonation and a nice balance. The quality shows in the brew, but both the smell and the taste seem a bit washed out.
3.7 75cl bottle @Cimmeria, Oviedo. 16-06-2017. BBD: not noticed. Roasty, wood, caramel, licorice, bourbon nose. Medium to full body, overcarbonated, slick texture. Taste is a bit harsh due to overcarbonation, but when it rests you get a good bourbon and wood feel, smooth and robust. Good.
3.5 Botella. @Cimmeria, Oviedo 15/06/2017 Color negro opaco con corona de espuma beige, aromas a madera con notas torrefactas, sabores a licor y madera, cuerpo medio.
3.8 Pours dark deep brown close to black with an average beige head. Aroma of toasted malt, dark fruits, chocolate, bourbon, vanilla and some toffee. Sweet flavor that ends up being slightly more dry with bitter notes. Medium bodied, oily texture and soft to average carbonation. A very nice Impy indeed. 🌟🌟🌟🌟
3.9 Cortesía de Angel77. Imperial stout con escasa espuma. Gran sabor a bourbon y madera. Potente.
2.2 16.06.2017, 0,75l bottle shared @ local tasting: Gusher. Huge fizzy longlasting head. Aroma is strange sour-ish mineraly, bloodlike minerals, grass, minerals, alcohol, dark malts, mild bourbon, weeds, bark. Taste is slightly dry sour-ish mineraly, weeds, minerals, bark, oak, mild bourbon, medicine, booze, dark malts, grass. Medium to longlasting bitterness, slightly harsh medical mouthfeel. So disappointing...
3.7 Poured from the tap. Dark black with tan head. Soy and leather with hints of roast malt, mild alcohol. Pretty lacklustre to be honest.
3.7 Draft at Churchkey from notes. Pours dark brown to black in color with a small khaki colored head. The aroma and flavor have roasted malt, dark chocolate, bourbon, oak, dark fruit, hints of caramel, some vanilla, just a touch thin.
3.6 Tap at Moeder Fontainas. Very dark brown with beige head. Huge bourbon up front, flowers, vanilla, rum, marzipan, fudge. Quite sweet with flowery bitterness. Medium bodied with slick feel and soft carbonation.
3.7 Tap at Moeder Lambic Fontanais. Black with tan head. Sweet chocolate malts, bourbon, licorice, raisans, prune, cinnamon. Over medium sweet, moderate bitter. Slightly over medium body, soft carbonation. Bit alcoholic and not very subtle.
4.2 750ml bottle of 2016 Release. Pours a black color with a lot of frothy head. Heavy on the bourbon. Very dry. Nice hop balance.
4.1 750ml bottle from Marché Omni. Pours a big thick frothy beige head and has a dark murky brown appearance. Some nice sticky lacing. Aromas are a little bit woodsy, barley malts, toasted malts, vanilla. Flavours are mostly roasted malts, hints of chocolate, vanilla, a little bit of sweetness. Alcohol is fairly noticeable, coming from some whisky/bourbon barrels and it shows. It’s still very easy to drink, has a smooth and slick mouthfeel. Slight bitterness on the palate towards the finish. Exceptional brew, well done and well balanced as well. Only complaint, a tad pricey. *note: 10%abv on this bottle.
3.8 On tap, Moeder Lambic. Black, medium tan head. Aroma predominantly liquorice, hints of eucalyptus, mix of spices. Heavy body, oily, sticky texture. Taste sweet, spices - cloves, cinnamon, cardamon. Mild coffee notes.
3.5 On tap at BGH. Pours a pitch black. Good flavor but weak palate. Not too bad.
3.7 Bue à la pression. Belle couleur noir. Mousse beige persistante. CO2 moyen+. PAalis chocolat noir, café. Pointe boisée acide et hit d’alcool type whisky. Cool
3.8 Bue à la pression au Moeder Lambic Couleur noire, peu de mousse effervescence moyenne Nez café et vanille En bouche attaque vanillée avec une pointe café on continue sur le chocolat avec un côté très rond bien faite sur le tonneau
4.3 Bottle at beerbistro. Complex aroma of coffee, roasted malt, leather, dark chocolate, dark cherries, boozy bourbon. Pitch black with finely bubbled tan head. Roasted malt, bourbon, vanilla, coffee, dark chocolate. This is a very complex beer. Tastiness.
3.7 Tap at Churchkey. Dark brown pour with a clingy dense head. Aroma of bourbon, dark fruit, very mild hint of band aid. Medium palate - expected more density. Booziness emerges late.
