2006 vintage - 9.5% ABV, subsequent batches 7.5% ABV.

4.5 Rating #1371 10.12.2014 750mL bottle at Charcut. This beer translates to Christmas Street Hooker. I’m so excited. Clear, dark brown pour, bubbly tan head. Aroma is licorice, cardamom, coriander. Taste is alcohol, toffee malts, licorice, mild smoke, roast, grains, mild spiciness. Phenomenal christmas ale.
3.5 Light brown with a minimal pale head. Aroma is banana, raisins, cinnamon toast. Full bodied, lightly sticky mouthfeel, sickly sweet on the palate with a hint of booze on the finish. Taste is banana bread, caramel, cinnamon bun, booze.
3.4 60 cl bottle. Pours hazy orange to brown with a small off white head. Aroma is sweet and caramelish. Bitter and toasted malty. Dry finish. Light nutty.
3.5 Draft - Caramel, Christmas spice and some dark fruit. Clear copper with a decent beige head. Caramel malts, light spice, marzipan and some orange. Malty and not as spiced as nose.
4.3 As long as TdD keeps batting them out of the park, I will be in the parking lot at a classy tailgate party waiting to catch them. She’s a pretty lil’ number, some yeasties floating about in a ruddy dark amber body capped by a creamy and yet fizzy off-white head. Wonderfully spicy without being spicy, my guess is that it is owing to a fine Belgian species putting in work in the heat. A balance is struck between bitter and sweet, caramel, faint bubblegum and lightly buttered whole wheat bread poking about provide a smooth backbone here. Cinnamon, coriander, black pepper and herbal ju-ju pounce on the opportunity to keep the scales level. Fine enjoyment comes from the fact that this brew isn’t super dry and highly carbonated; instead, a velvety but effervescent texture coats the innards. Grab three, drink two and cellar one. Repeat.
4.5 Poured from bottle. Aromas of fruit and caramel. Pours a dark red. Has a medium sweet taste. Medium body, sticky texture, and a slightly bitter finish. An excellent brew.
3.5 Pours dark red with a small beige head that disappears to a ring. Aroma is lots of spice, cinnamon, cadamon, nutmeg. Taste is much the same but everything works together. A little licorice, nutmeg, cadamon, cinnamon.
3.2 Amber-brown, touch of haze. Light spice, caramel, sweetish character, with light fruit, dash of drying alcohol.
3.7 Christmas may have passed, but this bottle managed to maintain it’s residency in my fridge until now. Pours a fairly transparent ruby/copper with a large off-white head. Aromas of plum, dark berries, pepper, and caramel. There is a very sweet fruity flavor, along with some caramel malty-ness and a light peppery finish. Pretty refreshing beer and not your average Christmas ale.
3.3 Pours a dark, clear amber with a thin off-white head. Nose is caramel malts with some apple pie and candies. Earthy and herbal. Taste is sweet candi sugar, blueberries, spices with some nutty flavors and a light bitterness in the end. Medium to high carbonation.
3.7 bottle, deep amber pour, fuller mouthfeel. Dark fruits, herbal, touch of holiday spice, burnt caramel. lots of flavor, nice holiday ale
4.1 How: Bottle. Appearance:Clear dark amber, off-white head. Aroma:spices, cloves, herbs. Palate: medium to full body, light carbonation.
3.1 4 ounce pour on draft at ChurchKey. Clear golden brown with off-white head. Aromas of dark fruit and herbs. Tastes of dark fruit, light herbs, caramel, malt. Medium-light body with a dry finish.
3.5 Pours clear deep amber with one finger of dense light tan head, good retention, minimal lacing. (4/5) Nose is toffee caramel, dark fruit, cinnamon and other spices, herbal leafy hops in the background. (7/10) Taste is moderately strong sweet, moderate bitter, mild spice. (7/10) Medium body, moderate sustained carbonation, and a slightly sticky, mildly spicy and bitter finish. (3/5) "The Ribaldry of Christmas," huh?. Guess that explains the nekkid ladies on the label. The spices tend to dominate, making it a fairly standard winter warmer, albeit with a bit of Belgian character and a well-integrated ABV that emerges only as a gentle warming as the bottle progresses. The smoked peppers start to become apparent after a while as well, adding to the “warmer" characteristic. A bit sweet, but I guess that’s to be expected for the style. Decent enough, if a touch pricey. (14/20)
3.5 Hazy dark amber with a nose of honey and light spruce. Nice smooth flavor of honey and leafy hop tone with a Belgian-English dustiness.
3.9 Bottle 600 ml. Pours ruby red with quickly disappearing beige head. No lacing. Aroma: spices, peppers, cinnamon, liquorice, candies. Taste: liquorice, spices, candies. Strong carbonation. Not too heavy. Excellent balance. A really good Christmas Beer from TDD!
3.7 Draft at Churchkey. Poured a clear orange color with a small white head. Aroma was notes of caramel, nutmeg, cinnamon. Some dried fruits. Flavor was nice cinnamon, with caramel malts. Some light coriander. Very seasonal.
3.5 On draft at ChurchKey DC. Pours a cloudy brown with an ecru head. Aroma of christmas spices. Flavors of banana and bubblegum. Smooth, creamy mouthfeel.
3.5 650ml bottle. Prunes, dark berries, orange peel, banana, bubble gum, cane sugar, cloves, coriander. Lovely Belgian yeast prevails, generously hopped, strong caramel malt. Lots going on and leaning maybe just a touch too sweet and Christmasy.
3.6 On tap at Dutch’s. Clear darker red color. Thin off-white head. Decent kind of loose splotches and ropes of lace. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, kind of soft lighter carbonation. A bit more soft and dry than other belgian strong ales. Some dark fruit, winter spices, some herbal earthy characteristics. Pleasantly toasty, some cinnamon. Hint of cold medicine. Moderate-plus bitter taste, light to moderate sweet, more dry taste in the finish, kind of spicy. Solid, different take on a belgian strong ale. Spicier and more on the dry side, with a tingly texture to the carbonation.
3.3 Tap. Poured clear dark brown color with an average frothy white head that was mostly lasting with very good lacing. Moderate to heavy toasted malt, yeast and small alcohol aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy complex sweet flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate to long duration. My expectations where are mixed with an interesting brew.
3.5 Draft at Dutch’s. Pours a dark amber color with a small beige head. The aroma and flavor have sweet malts, floral notes, fruity, mild spices, soft, almost soapy mouth feel, yeast, I can’t help but think that this is some fruity, floral thing right out of Bed, Bath and Beyond. Interesting beer, don’t know if I would do it again.
