3.6 Nearly black pour with a thin light tan head. Dark chocolate, slight coffee, a little smoke and red fruit on the nose. Taste is similar - smoky, chocolate and coffee, a little cherry, fairly creamy with a dry finish
3.4 The beer has got a deep black colour with a big head and medium body. Aroma of malt and chocolate. Taste of malt, dark bread, hops, chocolate and coffee. Dry and malty finish.
3.5 Aroma of coffee and roasted malt. Appearance is a blackish brown with a huge tan head that retains exceptionally well. Taste is coffee, chocolate, brown sugar, earth. Palate is medium-thin with a dry and roasty finish. Overall- Well balanced and quite drinkable.
3.7 Bouteille.
3.7 dark brown, almost black colour, moderate sized beige-ish head; aroma of cocoa powder, dark chocolate, ash, some dried plum and sour cherry, as well as peated notes; taste is the same with considerably less intensity; a bit watery, which is fully acceptable taking into account that it is "only" a dry stout
3.2 0,375l bottle at home bought from Firmabier (I think). Bottle says 130215, which I guess means bottled on. There was another label on the bottle which seems to have been torn off. black color, medium big coffee-colored head. smells milky, earthy, light yoghurt, spices, some licorice, light parfumy. decent smell. medium body, soft carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes lightly sweet, some licorice, earthy, light yoghurt, spices. finishes lightly sweet with notes of licorice, some yoghurt and spices. still ok, but seems to be rather old.
3.5 On tap at Cirkus, Stavanger. Pours black with a small head. Aroma of caramel, weak roast and new roasted coffee. Taste is moderate sweet, dark roasted malts, coffee. Soft carbonated. Lingering roast and coffee.
3.2 Opaque black with a nice head definition. The 1 finger head is light brown and creamy, lasting around 10-15 minutes, but making no legs. Flavors of coffee, chocolate, smoked salmon and bacon, faint molasses, herbal spices. Creamy light body with a strong intensity. Lacks a little freshness being dry and bitter, with a present sugary feel. Ends with an earthy smoked bacon aftertaste. A mix between a dry stout and a rauchbier. Overall decent craft: the flavors are nice but the feel is a little off, can be a little harsh, too oily and too thin.
3.5 22oz bottle. Dark brown colour with a small tan head. Roasted malts, cocoa, vanilla and coffee in the aroma. Average to soft carbonation and medium body. Taste is medium sweet, roasted and light bitter with chocolate and coffee notes. Overall, nice beer.
3.7 Noire d’encre gros collet persistant.
3.2 on tap scura buona discreta persistenzaschiuma spezia cioccolato amaro filo acidulo
3.7 22 oz bottle. Pours a dark brown with almost no head. Has a really nice hazelnut and cocoa chocolate. A little bready flavor and a bit of spices. Really nicely put together.
3.1 On tap no bar Le Fine Mousse em Paris. ?5,5 Não eh meu estilo preferido. Preto profundo e espuma densa e duradoura. Sabor suave de café.
3.7 Black in color, but of a coffee start and dry finish, not my first choice but a pretty good Irish dry stout
3.8 Bottle. Near black in colour with medium carbonation. Aromas are of cocoa and espresso powder, vanilla, and pale malt. Well balanced on the palate between the dry/roasty (coffee and chalk) and the sweeter (vanilla and milk chocolate) elements. Even a little minty hop note shows up too. Complex and highly drinkable.
3.5 Bottle. Nearly-black pour with a tan head. Aroma is roasty, dark chocolate, a little creamy. Taste is rich and roasty, dark chocolate, a touch of coffee, fairly dry and bitter.
3.3 Dark body brown head nice lacing. Roasty nose. Taste of dark roasty malts, but not so complex. Quality dry stout but not something I’d go out of my way to have.
4.0 Really enjoyed this one! First smell remainds me a bit of an old bar. Not that pleasent. But as you make your way down to the bottom of the glass, this stout becomes increasingly omforting. It’s rounded warmth is a treat for the senses. At this low volume, an abslute favorite!
4.1 090116. A beer with a name that is difficult to pronounce but that is the only downside to this beer, not that this is even really a downside. I purchased this bottle from Cool Wine in Hobart a while ago and thought it was about time that I drank it. The awesome looking label on the bottle certainly catches your eye and the label is both colourful and intriguing. While the outer packaging is very good it is the beer inside the bottle that really makes you sit up and take notice. Black as coal with a smooth even thin layer of tan foam and aromas of dark chocolate. Cocoa, vanilla and toffee fill the nose. This is a beer that is visually pleasing and from the first mouthful to the last you get nothing but great flavour. Much like the aroma the flavour is all vanilla, toffee and dark chocolate. While the beer is thin in the mouth it is as smooth as velvet and fills the mouth with flavour and leaves a slightly bitter aftertaste.
3.5 Had it couple months ago. I remember it had a medium beige head. I remember it tasted well but I wasn’t marked by it as I was with other beers from that brewer. Still a very good brew.
3.7 Draught at Vices & Versa. Nice chocolate forward stout, round mouthfeel, herbal hops, notes of smoke and licorice, fairly dry finish. Solid stuff, could easily down a pint even without being a big stouthead.
4.0 Marrom escura, opaca.
4.0 Rating #1321. 11.11.2014. Bottle @sugarbowlcafe.Dark, black pour with a tan foam with decent retention. Aroma is very roasty, some cocoa, espresso. Taste is a hint of coffee, burnt sugar, finishes fairly dry. Quebecoisirlandais can be a word.
3.6 Black with a pale head. Aroma is anise, chocolate, fig, hint of coffee. Medium bodied, lightly oily mouthfeel, bittersweet on the palate with a lightly astringent finish. Taste is mild coffee, anise, fig, chocolate.
