Asylum is in the style of a Belgian Tripel. It has a beautiful golden color. Its relatively light body is deceiving for a beer of its character. It has a sweet and spicy, complex fruity aroma and flavor derived from our distinct Belgian yeast strain. Asylum finishes with a subtle, warming character to help you relax on any night. Asylum is an exceptionally smooth Belgian-style brew. Drinking great beer brings the world together. “Vrede op aarde” (Peace on earth).

4.3I see complaints about this beer. I don’t know. I really like it. It’s easy drinking. I’ve had every type of belgian style tripel around, my favs are the Trappistes Rochefort 6,8 and 10. The problem is those are overly expensive for 11.2 ounce beers. Hell, those beers (like the 10) are around 7$ a bottle.
This one is 6.50$ usd in my area (southern california) and it’s really enjoyable. People say the alcohol is present, I don’t really sense that. What I get is a smooth drinking beer that gets nice as it warms up a bit. It’s got a tad of sweetness, but it’s not overwhelming. It’s got some tiny smoke to it, maybe some currant and vanilla and I don’t know.
It’s just damn good. Not sure what people complain about.
3.1This is a great copy of a Belgian. It’s close, but it’s no cigar. Yeasty nose - check. Golden color - check. Lace - negative. Breast palate - check. Layers in the taste - negative.
3.7Decent representation of the style, though not quite the flavor and feel of a true Belgian. Pours a semi-clear light orange appearance. Complex flavor of sweet fruits, light malts and grain, and yeast. Need to sip this as the alcohol bite isn’t hidden that well (hard to do at 11.8%). Ok to try, but there are better tripels out there.
3.4De kleur is mooi donkerblond. Weinig schuim als je uitschenkt. Een lekker volle geur. De smaak is goes, maar ik zou toch maar de "Belgian style tripel ale" met een korrel zout nemen.

Please drink some more Westmalle trippel before you attempt to fully understand the style. It’s well made but it’s more barely wine than tirpel. Easy-drinking for the abv. Clove and coriander. Just research the style more please!
4.6a simply marvelous Tripel. beautiful morphing taste that includes perfume of melon and is flowery without being a pain in the ass. complex body it is slick ,juicy sweet with honey and finishes refreshing and dry. what else does one want?! nice aroma of fresh wheat and hardly any hint of alcohol in the flavor. the spice is there but fits in and doesn’t dominate. I could go on about this one. I will not tell where I got it.
4.2Happy Darwin Day! A beautiful, slightly hazy, orange colored beer with no head, just a bit of a beige ring around the edge of the glass. Bubblegum scent as typical of Belgians, mild pine. Sweet with loads of malt, lightly flavored of tropical fruit & breakfast cereal. Nice feel, slick, coats the mouth, alcohol warms on the way down. Easy drinking for nearly 12% ABV.
3.8Fruity toffee aroma. Pours clear orange without much of a head. Good Belgian flavors, long fruity finish.
4.1I didn't take any extra notes when I tried this beer for the first time but I'm gonna try it again and update my comments.
3.2Pours clear orange limited head no lacing. Nose is sweet and grassy. Flavours of candy, dough, some syrup. Taste light bitter light/med sweet. Medium sticky body lively carbonation and a big alcohol burn to the finish.
4.022oz bottle. Floater-laden amber-colored base/low foam. Sweet candi sugar syrup, aged orchard & citrus fruit flavors. Full body & medium carbonation.
3.9Poured from the bottle a cloudy honey. Had a weird yeast first nose. It left quickly and was replaced with a whiff of the heavy alcohol. I finally managed to find some plums buried in there. Big syrupy fmouth full. Fruity, maybe a little bready even. Sticks to the palate and lingers with a pleasant alcohol finish. Not at all what I expected from a Tripel, but enjoyable.
3.7Aroma is plums , raisins, rich sweet malts, and belgian candy sugar. Taste is akin to the taste with some additional caramel and toffee hints. Appearance is a slightly hazy orange with a thin pearl head that retains fairly well.
3.8Not sure what’s up w/ the low score. Banana galore! Sweet & tasty & goes down easy at nearly 12%. Lovin it!
3.5I felt like I was a kid in the cafeteria because this beer tastes like a Capri Sun, only I didn’t have to struggle with the goddamn straw. Definitely a creeper because it is so fruity with so much alcohol. Let’s not beat up the brewer for trying something out of the box. It’s not a beer I would have every day, but when you’re in the mood for black cherry/apple and a good buzz this can do the trick. Go out and grab one and expand your taste buds. Also at a good price point!
3.4Tallahassee, Fl. - Beer Stop - 12 oz bottle. Dark golden, light orange pour, initial fluffy snow white head that sticks around a bit, Slightly boozy aroma, some wort-like essence, a whiff of brown sugar. Sweet flavor. some maple syrup, brown sugar, sweet cake mix. Thickish moutheel. A bit too sweet overall.
3.0Strong spicy yeast aroma with strong breast caramel malts, nutty, cinnamon, clove cookies.
Pours a clear light amber with small white lasting creamy head
Malty bready body with clove spiciness and a strong spice finish.
Full bodied with low co2, coats palate. Lingering spicy finish.
A bit thick for a Tripel. Chewy almost. Sweetness is almost cloying. Should have fermented out more, but then the spice would probabaly overpower too much. Drinkable, but disappointed.
3.3Draft at Taps Beer Bar, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a clear medium amber with a frothy white head and lots of bubbles. The aroma is sweet malt and yeast.
The flavour is moderate to strong sweet with a toffee caramel malt, light burning alcohol palate. Medium bodied with lively carbonation. A great example of the style but I’m not a big fan of big alcoholic Tripel’s.
3.6Sample at Grassroots Jacksonville. A good tripel overall. Nice touch of sweetness that almost touches syrupy, with a touch of hop bitterness and it finishes with some warning booze. Full mouthfeel. Tasty.
3.5On draft at the Taphouse41 in Sioux Falls, SD. Nice golden color. Small head. Good taste with the high alcohol contents nicely masked. Not a bed tripel.
2.5Pours a opaque copper, with a small head. Very sweet with banana and bread on the nose. Almost over powering with sweetness. Very estery flavours, a bit too much for me
3.0A - pours clear effervescent bright copper with no head and a tiny ring of sticky lacing. S - Belgian yeasts, fruity esters, apples. Belgiany and sweet. M - this and very very sweet. Malty and thick. T - Belgiany, bananas, bubble gum and apple juice. O - nice but aggressively sweet.
3.0Amber pour with a small white head. Spicy aroma with some plum and lemon rind. The body is kind of thick for a triple, but it has nice deep fruit flavors, some good spice (red pepper and clove), a little honey.
2.3From a 12 oz bottle into a Belgian snifter.
Cloudy amber color like an unfiltered apple cider. Topped with a small white head that quickly recedes to a thin ring.
Oddly, the sweet aroma has a clear suggestion of apples, and is markedly fruity.
The flavor is way too sweet, with brown sugar, alcohol, caramel malts and spices. Off style and not appealing.
O: Drinkable but not very good, and an insult to Belgian brewers to include that "Belgian-style" on the label. I’ll now avoid this brewery which may be pinning it’s forutnes on the resemblance of Left Coast to the far superior brewrs, Lost Coast and Left Hand.
3.5From a bottle. Pours dull cloudy amber with minimal head, mild sour flavour and aroma, very smooth with no hint of the huge alcohol content. Dangerously drinkable.
3.2From a 12 oz bottle in the Greenville Beer Exchange tasting event in Greenville, NC.
Cloudy yellow golden colour with a small white head.
Belgian yeast, sweetness, mild bitterness and malty dryness. A bit unbalanced and sweet aroma. The flavour is sweetness, alcohol, malt, spices and hoppy bitterness. Quite typical strong American Belgian brew.
2.2Bottle pour. Hazy golden with very little head. Bubblegum, cloves, and alcohol. Medium body. Bubblegum and sweet alcohol taste. Not the best tripel.
3.0Draft at Brew’d Pub. Clear golden amber color, white edge head. Aroma is herbal and floral. Taste is gritty and spiced.
1.3as soon as i started to pur this i thought "aww, man this fucker is oxidized, how old is it?" paper dust cardboard notes are strong. smells like old wax wrapped around dry honey. pours what can only be described as piss when you haven’t been drinking enough liquids. first sip is all husked up grains and age/ this tastes like someone with alzheimers made oatmeal. just so many things are wrong. and i have 22oz’s to drink. i will look for another sample, but will post this rating in case it is a beer issue and not an age issue.no bottle dates that i can see so i can’t disqualify this from that info.
3.2"A solid if not spectacular triple. Equal parts sweet, fruit, bubble gum and clove like spice, nose and flavor the same. Medium bodied. Shoes some alcohol but not too bad."
