Left Hand Oktoberfest

Left Hand Oktoberfest

This beer is available each autumn in celebration of the great Bavarian festival season. Brewed in late spring and cellared throughout the summer, our Oktoberfest is produced through traditional methods as it has been for centuries in Germany, This copper-hued lager owes its rich malt flavor to a generous combination of select Vienna and Munich malts. Cool, open-fermentation develops a subtle elegance and drinkability suited to any festive occasion.

3.8 Aroma: malt, bread, notes of citrus and grass Taste: saturated bready flavor enhanced by malt sweetness, citrus lite sourness and grass. Bittersweet aftertaste with long trail of earthy hops
3.3 A sweet, malty okto. Not my favorite but better than average. Just a touch of bitterness in. The finish.
2.9 12floz bottle, BBD; 11.07.2017, $1.75 unit cost, pint glass. Appears a bronze color with clarity and a thin layer of head. Aroma is toffee. Tastes somewhere between a traditional style Octoberfest and one completely Americanized - heavy on burnt toast with a note or caramel. Medium-bodied feel with a lasting bitterness that greatly affects the overall experience.
3.0 An enjoyable Oktoberfest. More hoppy than most. But it works well. Sorry, I had to upload these old ratings. They were for me, not for uploading. And also I need 75 characters, hence this sentence.
3.4 Draft at Macs. Slightly hazy amber pour. Fizzy off-white foam. Caramel bready base with some bright citrus hop notes. Honey sweet clementines. Chocolate chip bagels. Not in any way a true German marzen but works well enough. Balanced.
3.8 Bottle. Caramel malt aroma with notes of toffee, toasted malt and spicy hops. Pours clear caramel colored with a thin off white head that has good retention and lacing. Starts with caramel and toasted malt flavors. Finishes smooth with toffee malt sweetness and some spicy hop notes. Pretty nice Oktoberfest.
3.3 Draught. Pours amber with white head. Fairly balanced body with sweet malt. Some sugariness in the finish.
3.0 weird, muted taste. a little sweet. quite different from the German style
2.1 This marzen is drinkable but it's pretty bad compared to other oktoberfest beers. Just some really funky off flavors going on In this beer and to be honest I started to get a headache when I drank it.
3.4 Pretty good marzen, malty but uber-clean, front-loaded with caramel and toffee and esters that quickly fade into a crisp, bright, slightly floral finish. Could use a heftier ass on it, to be honest; the back end loses its steam abruptly, and some lingering sweetness on the fade would hew closer to a traditional festbier, but, hell, we’re still suffering through summer here in Tennessee, so a somewhat refreshing Oktoberfest brew is acceptable. Pretty red-orange pour, probably as appealing a caramel-toffee marzen nose as you can get. Texture’s a tinge overcarbonated. Not bad.
3.4 From notes, draft to pint at Cappy’s pour light copper amber with thin ecru head. Nose green apple, crystal malt, cracker, caramel. Taste fairly sweet, apple and fruit, then grainy malt. Fairly clean, no skunk.
4.9 Very smooth, no lingering after taste, very good overall, great appearance, I could tell by the appearance it would be full of flavor.
3.4 It pours a clear Amber with good head of foam. Smells malty as in toasted with bread. No real over sweet notes. Yum. Bready malt, toasted, light bitterness, this is a tasty OFest. I get caramel too but the sweetness level is kept in check. I am a hard ass when it comes to the style so my praise isn’t to be taken lightly. Medium body with mildish carbonation. From their sampler pack.
3.4 Bottle from Merchants. Aroma is caramel, earthy hop, robust, almost like a scotch ale, slight metallic, good. Appearance is darker amber, clear, light tan head. Taste is earthy hop, caramel, bitter malt, wheat, robust, autumn in a glass. Mouthfeel is light to medium body, light carbonation, caramel malt and earthy hop aftertaste. Overall, solid example of the style.
3.2 12 oz bottle pours clear copper with very small head no lacing to speak of. Faint smell of pumpkin and malt, taste is better than I thought it would be crisp and slightly sweet bitter aftertaste but I like it.
2.9 From the bottle. Grassy aroma golden copper color wit a medium thick cream colored head. Malty flavor is quickly overcome by the hops. Hop bitterness lingers.
2.8 Slightly alcoholic taste. Dark in color. Thick for a lager. Smooth to the palate, with a crisp finish.
3.5 12 oz bottle. The deep amber colored body has excellent clarity and a moderate size, semi-durable head. Minimal lacing. The aroma is hoppy for style but the flavor has a typical hop/malt balance. Overall: a solid, mainstream marzen.
3.2 Malt and pumpkin aroma, clear copper color. Thin to medium body for style, dissipates quickly, stronger start than finish. Pumpkin, toffee, and caramel flavor. Could use a bit more body and finish.
3.1 Bottle from Whole Foods, Tenleytown. Reddish amber body with tiny white head. Nose is malty, toasty, caramel. Taste is caramel, malts and spices. Slightly sticky and spicy in the finish.
3.2 Deep Amber red color. Very sweet malty mouth with apricot and oranges and not a marzen. Very new world and in interesting
3.0 This is a pretty decent American Oktoberfest. It’s a bit on the sweet side, strong and heavy, but does have a pretty nice toasty/raisiny malt quality to it--even verging on a bit roasty. It’s quite bitter in the finish and slightly metallic but not so much it really ruins your day. Dry this out, tame the ABV a bit, fix the slight flaws and you got yourself a really good beer.
3.4 From a 12 oz. bottle. Pours a clear amber with an ecru head. Malty nose. Nutty flavors, caramel flavors. Smooth finish.
3.8 Amber brew with small fast fading head. Smell and taste is dominated by caramelized malts but it is not overly sweet as I first thought it was going to be. Really good brew that I am enjoying today and will buy this one again next year.
3.3 Clear copper. Nice nose Medium body, flavorful. Dry, moderarly bitter. Hoppy. Typical.
3.2 Bottle from Wine Warehouse. Pours deep amber, clear, with a small off-white head. Aroma of autumn leaves, caramel, fruit. Taste is bitter leaves, caramel malt, copper, light fruit.
2.4 Pours a clear amber with an off white head. Aromas of malt. Taste the same with a little hop finish medium carbonation. Little lacing in the glass. Light to medium mouth feel. A little off putting aftertaste. Not really digging this.
3.3 12oz bottle from CBC. Pours mahogany with just a few off white bubbles. Aroma is caramel, brown bread, mild banana. Very low carbonation, nearly flat. Flavor is caramel, toffee, fruity esters.
3.9 Bottle. Amber-copper colored with a small diminishing white head. Aroma of sawdust and spicy rye bread. The taste conjures up images of spruce and rye. The palate is medium and appropriate for the style. Finished long and dry and a tiny bit astringent. Overall: I could drink this all day long its an immediate favorite. Decent brewski.
3.9 Bottle from Meditrina. Crystal clear light amber with lasting head and a little lace. Toasted caramel minerally earthy aroma. Toasted caramel sweetness with some toasted nuts grass bread. Mild minerally earthy finish with just a touch too much residual sweetness for my taste, possibly due to higher alcohol than it needs to be. Medium slick body. Pretty excellent/very good.
