3.2 This was poured into a snifter. The appearance was a semi-hazy burnt amber color with a one finger foamy head that dissipates pretty quickly. A tight filmy coat of lacing clings to the glass nicely and eventually slides into the beer. The smell started off with some dried sweet and bitter pine. Light citrusy tones slide in underneath. Light caramel malt rides in even slighter than the citrusy tones. The taste was mainly bitter dry arranging the sweet citrusy fruits in with the caramel malts. There’s a slight dry citrusy aftertaste running into the finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium in body with a decent sessionability about it. Carbonation feels fairly low allowing the dryness to really hit my tongue. Overall, its an okay DIPA, probably not one to seek out again, but definitely do-able.
3.3 Pours a clear, dark, golden-amber, with good-sized head that dissipates rapidly. Aroma is quite muted: some floral notes, some hops, some sugar/candy smells. Flavor is rather sweet, with a lot of hop bitterness, some grassiness, some citrus, even a touch of anise. Almost verging closer to a barley wine, actually.
3.9 Bomber bottle, pours golden brown, small white head. Sweet, sticky malts, grapefruit, papaya, light spice, piney, sticky and resiny, finish is lightly bitter. Tasty IIPA
3.4 Bottle split at GBBF ’15, day 3, 13/08/15. Clear golden orange with a decent off white covering. Nose is caramel malt, bitter orange, toasted malt, citric pith, light spice. Taste comprises earthy hops, caramel malt, bitter orange, straw, bready notes. Medium + body, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a touch of boose. Ok but ultimately fails to deliver the flavour that the ABV warrants.
3.5 Draught at Ibrew Wired. Grapefruit, orange, pine, apricot marmalade, caramel, bittersweet finish. Decent stuff without being brilliant, have yet to be impressed by this brewery.
3.9 Draught at TNT. Dark amber pour with almost no head. Aroma has more sweet caramel notes than hops. Same with the flavour, though there is decent bitterness. Needs more hops.
3.2 Aroma is malty and you get the usual apricot, citrus and exotic references. Taste is kinda balanced out, really good Imperial IPA - but streamlined in a way. You don’t get that overwhelming sensations. Sure, there’s hoppy bitterness with grapefruit accentuations and caramelly sugars. Floral and a nice malt profile. In the end, it’s a good solid double IPA, but nothing that makes you rip of your clothes and run down the street reciting power ballad lyrics.
3.4 Tap at Marciero. Amber-orange, a bit hazy, low lace. Rich malt nose, resin, citrus, mineral. Flavor is caramel, earth, minerals, pine, grapefruit. Too sweet and malty as usual for the style.
4.1 Bomber. Archer Road Beer Stop, Sheffield. Clear, old gold. Film of sticky, bubbly, white head. Really nice, albeit subdued, fresh, pineapple core hop. Sticky, slightly vinous malts. Tinned strawberry and the like. Bit of spice in there. It’s not in your face, but I can’t stop smelling it. Taste is also sweet. Quickly turns juicy, pithy bitter. Tad of chew on the palate. Nice bit of tooth rot. Finishes oozy, resinous bitter, just in time to cancel out some of that sweetness. Really drinkable, and by my reckoning this a little over seven weeks since bottling, which is pretty decently fresh. Could do another...
Bottle from Systembolaget. Hoppy and fruity with grapefruit, caramel and pine needles. Body is medium, the finish is dry and bitter with pine needles.
3.4 Tasting @ gaultier. Bottle from systembolaget. Fruity, piney, bitter notes with honts of caramel in both aroma and taste. Dry finish
3.6 22 bomber to cervoise. Pours clear gold-amber, white frothy head. Aroma of crystal malts, grapefruit juice, caramel and rye malts. Taste of buttered biscuit, pear, raisin, oak. Big on the malts. Bitter finish is more herbs and spice than citrus and pine. Unbalanced towards the malts for a DIPA. For the label stating that it?s loaded with hop flavor, they got it wrong. Call it what it is...Malty RyePA.
4.0 Bottle from gbbf 2015 and drunk at home. Clear amber colour. It’s a competent dipa for sure. Sweet but not cloying hoppy but not overly pungent. Flowery yet bitter . Some harsh bitter carbonic acid finish solid competent very drinkable but lacks a touch of soul and individuality. Good though.
3.6 Bottle from Nathahniel Square Corner Store, in Rochester NY. Pours a cloudy orange colour with a small off-white head. Aroma is caramel, malts, grass, hops, orange. Taste is hops, malts, raisin, sweet grassy. Nice.
3.5 Draft at Khyber Pass. Tulip. Hazy orange caramel pour with a short but thick float of off-white head. Big jumps of lace. Curly sweet amber brew with jumps of strong floral hops. Flavors include a weird dark brackish Albatross plum variant. Ultimately a full blood orange brew against hyper hop skisms. Completely unique!
4.0 A deep aroma with ripe fruit and hints of alcohol. Dark orange, not much head. Taste is very full, raisins and dried fruit, some leather and wine as well.. the palate is full and oily with a finish that is somewhat bitter and sweet, like it
3.5 Pours copper, slightly tan head. Aroma is hoppy, some malts. Taste is bitter. Hop bitterness lingering.
3.2 Halvljus och rätt klar. Maltig och lätt beska. Lite för mycket spritighet som tar över på slutet
3.3 Nose is mainly floral hops with a bit of citrus. Taste is grapefruit and caramel. Sticky finish. Thick palate, a touch sweet, a touch bitter. Hides the alcohol. Looks nice, clear orange, some funky lacing.
3.5 650ml bottle from Systembolaget. Clear, amber with a big, fluffy, white head that leaves a lot of lacing on the glass. Sweet and malty aroma, bread, orange marmalade, caramel. Mild carbonated with thick, creamy mouthfeel. The taste begins with alcohol warmth, then fruity taste mostly orange. The finish is pine bitter with booze.
3.5 650 ml bottle from systembolaget. Pours amber with nice white head. Fruity aroma with citrus pine and mango taste. After taste with hoppy notes and strong alcohol taste. A bit unballanced with some alcohol taste that follows.
3.8 Aroma contains lots of mango and star fruit. Very pretty color with a tiny ring of white foam. Taste is a punch of citrus hops up front with some pine. The malt sweetness takes over after that, leaving a nice and mildly hoppy aftertaste. This was good. Will buy if I ever see it in the St. Louis area.
3.6 Pours copper with a lasting cream head. Aroma is very strong pine, some grassy and citrus notes, but they are subtle and faraway. Taste is better, with a nice citrus/mango upfront and then fades to the nice, bitter bite. Recommended, especially if you’re more into the IPAs than the APAs.
3.5 Bottle from SB. Amber with a medium off white head. Fruity and hoppy tones. Fruit, malt, caramel, hops and bitterness. Full body with a nice balanced finish.
3.5 Poured into a teku. Color is dark amber with a small and sticky white head. The aroma is resinous pine, flowers, cantaloupe, cheesy hops, and sweet caramel malts. Flavour does not stray far away, pine, grapefruit, sweet malts, caramel. Pretty bitter and medium carbonation, medium to full mouthfeel. Nice balance, would personally like to have more tropical fruits.
3.4 On tap at Tipsy cow. Clear amber with beige head. Thick pine resin, syrup aroma and flavor, hint of booze. Long pine finish with floral notes. The malt is sweet and body full.
3.6 Sampled from the tap at the Oklahoma Craft Beer Fest. Pours a clear gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has notes of pine, grain and a hint of sweetness. Flavor is full of pine with a bit of resin backed by sweet grains.
3.8 650 ml bottle from systembolaget. Clear amber with off white head. Bitter grapefruit, pine, zest and fruit. Dry with high bitterness and medium carbonation.
