3.0 Bottle sample at a tasting at troubles' place. Thanks Stas & Max. Black. Roast, licorice, resinous hops, malt, caramel, sweetish, bitter finish, medium-bodied.
3.4 At Dror's place, pours black with a beige head, aroma of chocolate, coffee, liquorice, flavor of chocolate, coffee, liquorice, soy sauce, medium bodied
4.0 Extreme Beer Fest, can. Poured black with a tan head. Aroma of roasted coffee, dark fruit, chocolate, burnt grain. Taste was bittersweet, coffee, dark fruits, creamy.
3.5 Pours very nice.. dark, decent light brown foamy head. Aroma is unremarkable, but not negative... just some roasted malt and lactose. Taste is powerful... licorice, alcohol, malt, wood, hops... abrasive. Not a great strong stout.
4.4 I bought a four (or six)-pack of cans at the Wegmans in Collegeville. I can't quite remember how many came in the package because I think I took care of them in one evening. Wake Up Dead poured a pitch-black color with a big, soft and creamy beige head. The body was smooth and drinkable, making this big impy stout very dangerous, as I found out later. There is a ton of flavor in this beer, with notes of chocolate, coffee, raisins, wood, earth and a trace amounts of herby hops. You can certainly tell the abv on this is in double digits, but for the most part, the high level is hidden pretty well. This is definitely a very delicious and enjoyable stout.
3.3 (Nitro can) Pours and inky black with a smooth, compact, dense head from the Nitro; aromas of tobacco and dark chocolate; smooth palate with a dense, complex finish.
2.8 Fragrance of coffee and chocolate. Strong dark taste of coffee, cocoa and bitterness. Much bitterness that fills the mouth for a long time. Creamy beer and okay. Follow me @ Kung av öl @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.
4.0 Aroma is coffee, coacoa nibs, vanilla and figs. Taste is rich roasted malts, toasted oats, and caramel. Great depth and creamy body.
3.7 Nitro bottle poured into a snifter. Poured opaque black with a creamy, 1-finger tan head. Mild aroma, mostly of cocoa. Full-bodied. Smooth, with some creaminess. Mild finish with a light astringency. Chocolatey flavor with a note of anise. Some nice dairy cream notes as well.
4.0 Interesting aroma with smoky whisky and vanilla. Very nice carbonation and lacing. Coulor is almost black. Nice full body. Taste is somewhat on the safe side. Coffee, chocolate, malt and vanilla. Quite bitter ending with a hint of chili. A well made product.
4.2 Nitro can. This is ridiculously smooth and delicious. Almost impossible to believe this is 10.2%. The beer really doesn't become any heavier, either, as it warms to room temperature. Chocolaty and smooth, and the alcohol warms the drink just a little bit.
4.0 From the bottle. Virtually black with a creamy, beige crown. Aroma is dark chocolate, fudge, prunes, vanilla. Taste is bittersweet, trending lightly bitter at the finish where the hops becomes more pronounced. Body is to the heavier side of medium but a bit lighter than usual for the style. Pleasant.
3.6 Can 50 cl, labeled Nitro. Black with a creamy light brown head. Soft aroma of chocolate, coffee and dark fruits. Sweet with a good cholclate and dried fruit end, some spices. Full bodied. Bb 07.2019, 11.2018 Östersund, SE
3.9 440 ml can, Nitro. Oily pitch black with thick creamy tanned head. Heavy roasted malt with chocolate and coffee. Semi dry with high bitterness and soft nitro carbonation.
3.3 2 finger creamy beige head. Pitch black beer. Poured perfectly, nitro style and leaves great lacing. Aroma is raisins, fresh yeast, lightly toasted bread, cocoa, touch of vanilla and milk chocolate in close to perfect harmony. Lovely! Taste is very similar (with the addition of a light chili heat, manure and liquorice) but sadly introduces a rather harsh, burnt bitterness that is too present for my likings. Mouthfeel is very smooth and soft until that aforementioned bitterness come into play. Good body, if not a tad watery at the back. Slightly sticky. Medium-high bitterness. Low carbonation. Leaves an oily layer. Overall: Solid brew this one, could do without the bitterness and the salty liquorice though. Drinkable and pleasant, this is like a Guinness on 'roids.
4.1 Nitro pour, beautiful shiny black, thick beige creamy head and gorgeous sticky lacing. Aroma of burnt caramel, toasted barley, chocolate and raisins. Tastes sweet and bitter, with raisins, coffee and cocoa. Licorice bitterness in the end, alcohol very well hidden. Smooth, creamy, full bodied and easy to drink. A pleasure for the palate, all the nitro creaminess applied to an impy. Very good brew.
3.6 Big can from web SB 2018-11-23 Göteborg Nitro edition... AR: dark chocolate, raisins, prunes, coffey with a hint of milk AP: dark brown, wee trace of a head F: dark chocolate, wee vanilla, raisins, pruns, salty liqurice, caramel
3.3 Burk beställd från SB. Svart med ljusbrunt skum. Mjölkig munkänsla med smak och doft av kaffe med mjölk.
4.3 Wake Up Dead Nitro.
3.6 Put away through the summer after getting this 12 oz bottle in Vegas at a Total Wine over March Madness. Chilly outside, time is right. In it goes into my New Belgium tulip, ideal for imperial stouts. A body blacker than Hades and a touch of a tan head, no real surprise. A sniff follows, Goodness, is that swell or what. Chocolate, berries, alfalfa, dark earth, trust me on this. But it is the taste I am here for, here we go. Charcoal, burnt oak, semi-sweet chocolate, slick leather in taste and feel. No alcohol overbearance I can. Decent but far from being top of my list for imperial stouts.
3.7 Burk från SB. Doft av kakao, lakrits och kaffe. Söt och len smak med liten mjuk beska. Ganska lätt munkänsla. Stilren stout.
4.0 Ridiculously dark pour, nice tan nitro topper. Nose is spice and dark malt. Middle opens up with dark chocolate, anise, light coffee, earth, blackened malt. Finish is spicy, warm, and long. Sip this one, the alcohol starts to show.
3.8 From recently unearthed notes from August 2016. Bottle from the Utobeer Market Stall, Borough. Black pour with a wispy beige head. Nose of liquorice toffee, black treacle, prunes, blackcurrants, figs, dark chocolate. Flavours of liquorice, dark chocolate, dark roast coffee. Long alcohol burn. Sweet boozy finish.
4.0 A bit heavy on the coffee almost to a burnt flavor. Still hints of sweetness on the taste buds. Altogether a hearty imperial!
4.0 355ml bottle from 9°, Lianban, Xiamen. Pours black with a thin tan head. Aroma of roast malt with coffee and chocolate. Sweetish taste leading to a bitter finish.
4.2 Bottle. Rich and sweet aroma with dark fruits, chocolate and coffee. Dark stout appearance with a small frothy brown head and quite a lot of carbonation. Very sweet flavour with licorice, dark fruits/christmas cake, chocolate and coffee notes. Thick and creamy texture. Long sweet finish with a touch of alcohol warming.
4.1 Black with beautiful, creamy head (nitro version) . Roasted malt , raisins and chocolate in aroma. Taste follows with rich malty sweetness and roasted bitterness at the end.
4.0 Nitro bottle. Deep dark brown with a creamy eggshell head and thick lace. Light roasted aroma with notes of coffee and chocolate. Roasted flavour of chocolate, coffee and licorice.
