The is a pretty beer almost an amber/brown color. A well balanced beer that is great for the summer months. Unlike the porter, this is the beer that put them on the map.

3.3Pours dark brown, with a tan head. Aroma of malts and brown sugar. Taste is smooth, sweet, and very drinkable. A nice brown ale to quaff! Thumbs up for sure! Thanks Andy!
2.9Pours clear brown with a quickly-dissipating off-white head. Looks nice enough, though the aromas and flavors are best described as light - light caramel and nutty aromas, similar light flavors with a touch of sweetness. Hints of hops on the finish. Very drinkable, balanced style.
3.0bottle @ Beer Run / Charlottesville VA --- Clear dark brown color, smooth 1" beige head, streaks of lace. Taste is nutty malt that adds light carbonation and hops on the swallow. Very simple, not as sweet as one might expect. but not hoppy, either. Meh.
3.3Good brown ale that converted my son who is not usually a fan. Tasty with nice aftertaste. Looks good and tastes good. Mellow beer that goes well with a meal. Recommend for cooler days and nights.
2.6Pint at Fred’s restaurant Franklin VA. Bol aroma, sweet, earty caramel, clean dark brown color, small head and little lace, sweet flavor. Medium body thin smooth mouthfeel. Sweet finish. It’s fine. Classic brown.
3.2Draft sample at Cherry Blossom Beer & Wine fest, red-hued brown color with off-white head. Aroma notes of light roasted malt sweetness, some nuttiness and faint coffee. Taste adds caramel, molasses and bread. Light-medium body, moderate carbonation, sticky with light roast finish. Nice brown ale.
4.3Large mug off the tap,
Aroma- Has a strong malts aroma and maybe a slight coffee aroma at the edges.
Appearance- This beer is a dark brown color with red highlights when viewed through the bars neon!! Legend Brown Ale has a white head
Taste- Has a really good malt flavor that I didn’t expect. It went down really smooth.
Palate- This is a medium bodied beer with a low carbonation with an oily feel.
Overall- A really good beer from Legend. I will definitely drink this again.
3.216oz draft 1/21/15 (Sheraton Norfolk)-Pours brown with a small head. Aroma of caramel, malt, and toffee. Taste is the same with a bit more sweetness. This medium bodied brew is well balanced and tasty.
3.0This one is sweet and tasty but not really a brown to me. Caramel i think really overwhelms this one.
3.4Rich deep brown coloured body with a nice tan head - dense haze of brown as well, about 80% opaque. Aroma of rich malt, molasses, sugars and even bit of light fruit - very nice for the style. Medium-bodied; Rich roasted malt flavours show through with hints of earth, but a lot of sugars, caramel, toffee and especially molasses - very nice with the sweet and complex flavours at the end. Aftertaste shows some subdued complexity of malts along with a touch of alcohol notes, but the real flavour is in the sugar - nice! Overall, a much better beer than I was expecting and rich in flavours and in texture - a good beer for the style for sure. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Costco in Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia on 16-July-2014 for US$3,59 sampled after a hockey game in Washington.
3.4Nutty and sweet. Beautiful dark but clear brown. Very thin head. Solid brown ale. Thanks Erin for helping me cross off Virginia. Still need the Dakotas and Connecticut.
3.3Amber brown pour with tall soapy off-white head. Aroma of bread, nuts, and molasses. Bread and nuts flavor with molasses and some coffee. Decent beer.
3.4Served in pint glass, dark reddish brown with thin head. Little aroma, mild taste, deceptive ABV. Clean finish, easy to drink. But still a non-distinctive beer within its style, lots of better competitors.
3.8Bottle at a canal side tapas restaurant in Richmond, VA. Medium body with an average taste. Nothing outstanding.
3.7Transfer from BA review on 7-15-12-
Poured from bomber into pint glass
Appearance – Pours a medium to deep brown color with a billowy off white head. The head fades relatively fast initially but thickens, and fades more slowly over time. It does eventually fade however and leaves a medium amount of lacing.
Smell – The smell of this one is quite delicious. It has a nice roasted malt base with sweet toffee accents. Caramel, brown bread, and light coffee aroma are there as well. A wonderful roasty sweet smell.
Taste – A sweeter brown sugar and brown bread flavor meet the tongue. These form a base for the taste and are present throughout. Notes of the toffee and caramel come and go as the taste moves on with at the end the taste bittering up ever so lightly; bringing on some more roasted flavors.
Mouthfeel – The carbonation level of this brew is a bit on the higher side with the body on the mid to higher side as well. The carbonation level creates a more refreshing style at a little expense to the creamier and roasty flavors of the body.
Overall – Very easy drinking with great flavors and aromas.
3.0Bottled. Brown pour duh. Malty Ness and a bit of hops but pretty thinninsh with some toffee OK but not amazed.
3.4On tap at O’Malley’s Pub. Hazy brown body with a medium offwhite head. Hazelnut, caramel notes, coffee notes. Smooth.
2.6Bottle at Mekong, Richmond. Pours a clear brown color with a small but thick white head, minimal lacing. Aroma is mild: hazel nuts and caramel. Flavor is mild and overall weak. Slight lactic tang in the finish.
3.4Bottle. Copper brown color, a little cloudy, tall head. Nutty aroma, body is a little thin. Pretty good all around
3.8Bottle - Hoppy, dry, nutty flavor to this one. For me this is one of my go to favorite beers to drink on a regular basis. I love the slight bit and flavor on this one.
2.5Caramel and stale fruit. Some burned sugar. At least it looked brown... Tried this at the DC beerfest with Jess, Mark, and Matt in 2014.
2.9355 ml bottle in Vienna, VA. Pours a dark brown with a creamy tan head that lingers. Aroma is molasses, caramel, bread, malty notes. Its pretty light, and the taste is exactly like the aroma, very drinkable, but nothing really stands out to me about this beer. Palate is smooth.
3.1Bottle. Lightly sweet, toasty nutty malt aroma. Clear chestnut with a large off-white head, suspended flocculation. Nutty toasty caramel malt flavor. Body on the light side of medium, average carbonation.
3.4Pint on tap at Norfolk Tap Room. Clear darkish copper brown with a small topping of cream. Mild aroma of dry cocoa, toast and a touch of citrus. Flavor is toasted nut, caramel, cocoa and a touch of citrus. Light-medium body has medium carbonation and a nice balance.
3.2Nice brown color and a relatively easy to drink brown ale. Not the most interesting or strong aroma.
1.7First brown I didn't like.
2.9Not quite so legendary. Pours clear brown with some fizzy initial head and not much lacing. Mostly just some light hops here, can’t get much of a sense of the malt here. Finishes with light sweetness. Tap at Big Board.
3.2Legend Brown Ale is solid if not exceptional. The aroma is the richest part of the brew. The appearance is brown but with the viscosity and head of something like a Yuengling. The taste is malty and balanced but thin in the finish. This beer pairs well with bar foods.
3.1Medium brown/amber with a slight haze, one-finger off-white head that dissipated to a nice solid film and left nice lace. Aromas of strong caramel malt, ripe fruit and nuttiness. Flavor follows, with a touch of caramel malt up front, some generic fruitiness and then nuttiness toward the back end. Lighter to medium body, prockly carbonation, soft mouthfeel and a dry finish.
3.6Cloudy brown with a puffy, cream head.
Caramel, light chocolate aroma.
Taste is caramel malt, mild nuts, creamy.
A very decent, moderate brown ale.
Satisfying and simple.
Very solid.
