3.0 Almost Black With Shades Of Red, Medium Small Head, No Lacing. Faint Toasted Malt Aroma. Taste of Toasted Malt, Vanilla, Coffee Like Bitter Finish. Vanilla Gives Creamy Feeling, Although it is Thinner Than Looks And Taste Suggest. Decent Enough To Enjoy. OK.
3.8 12 ounce bottle into lager glass, best before 8/17/2015. Pours crystal clear dark reddish brown color with a 1 finger dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toast, dark bread, light smoke, herbal, grass, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of roast/bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toast, dark bread, light smoke, herbal, grass, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate herbal/roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toast, dark bread, light smoke, and herbal/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of roast/bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with a great roasted bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Very clean on lager flavors with minimal yeast ester notes present. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready, and lightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present after the finish as expected of 4.9%. Overall this is a very good schwarzbier style. All around good robustness, complexity, and balance of roast/bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; and very smooth, clean, and easy to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

3.3 Everyone needs a go-to beer for takeout/delivery pizza. A gourmet pizza deserves an amazing beer. But sometimes you just need a regular pizza. And even a regular pizza needs a beer. For that pizza, my beer of choice is now Leinenkugels Creamy Dark. Along with my other trusty beers (Dos Equis Amber and Negra Modelo), Creamy Dark is smooth, fairly light-bodied, more bitter than sweet, accessible (nice for a group), and inexpensive. Sure, it’s nothing special, but sometimes, that’s exactly what you need. Creamy Dark does its job quite nicely.
3.0 12 oz bottle for 25 cents from Hy Vee Wine & Spirits in downtown Muscatine. Black appearance with a nice, lasting tan head and light lacing. Aroma of dark, nutty malts, chocolate, coffee, light vanilla and light roast. Similar flavor, adding a light sweetness and a mild earthy hop bitterness. Light to medium body with a creamy feel and a light dry finish. Not bad overall.
3.0 Dark with small off-white head. Nose is chocolate. Light body with a lot of carbonation for a dark beer, chocolate flavors. Decent brew.
2.8 This is a very nice beer, although I was surprised to see how it was classified. This tastes like a milk stout to me and a very decent one at that
3.3 On tap at Brown Jug, A-squared. Hint of molasses in the aroma. Smooth drinking with chocolate overtones. Very sessionable. Surprised to find it’s classed as a Vienna Lager.
3.2 Actually pretty tasty for what it is. Roasted malts, a bit of sweetness almost like lactose from a milk stout. A bit thin, but it is a swarzbier, so understandable. Dark cola color with cocoa head.
2.6 Nice dark beer perfect for MLK weekend. Taste similar to a Guinness but not as thick and strong
2.8 Pours a dark red with a medium khaki head. Aromas of malt and coffee with some chocolate. Strong pilsner taste and aroma also. Thin on the palate. Overall just an ok beer.
3.3 12 ounce bottle poured a dark brown, aromas of light roast, and cocoa, flavors are the same, light on palate, Slightly creamy- not overwhelming.
2.9 Dark with small off-white head. Nose is chocolate some barley. Light body with a lot of carbonation for a dark beer, chocolate flavors.
3.1 12 oz. bottle from Cash Wise in Williston. Appearance: finger light khaki head, light lacing, dark brown color, clear. Aroma: molasses, earthy, pilsner notes, floral hops. Palate: medium-light body, average carbonation, thin oily texture. Taste: sweet chocolaty malt, into light fruity sweet, into light dark chocolate bitterness with floral notes. Overall, different, enjoyable, texture is not too enjoyable, slightly cloying.
2.9 This dark lager poured a deep dark red colour with a creamy, tan coloured head. Scents include metal, lightly toasted malts and a little bit of spice. First sip was quite creamy with flavours of roasted malts and caramel. Finish is burnt and lightly sweet.
3.3 "a surprisingly good, roasty, brew...from a fairly unimpressive brewery. i’d recomend this one to anyone looking for a good, dark beer on the lighter side.
