3.3 Refrigerated 12 oz. brown bottle poured into a glass. Cloudy light orange with small white head. Aroma is fresh grapefruit, medium body, medium carbonation, and a little lacing. Taste is grapefruit and soft beer that does not completely meld.
2.2 12 oz. bottle, pours a cloudy yellowish blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out fresh grapefruit, orange juice pith, and moderate sweetness. Flavour is very pithy and artificial, with sweet grapefruit, orange pith, and earthy sweetness. Artificial and unconvincing, but it’s pleasant enough for what it is.
2.8 Can from Flamingo Casino in Las Vegas on 9 October 2017. Another beer in the Leinenkugel Shandy range. Thin in the mouth with a refreshing clean flavour that freshens the mouth and cleanses the palate. The aroma is a bit light on.
5.0 Awesome beer if you love grapefruit which I absolutely do! It is my favorite beer by far!!!
2.3 Can. It poured a pale yellow with a thin white head. The aroma and flavor was grapefruit. It was a little sweet.
3.2 (12oz bottle) AROMA: grapefruit, vanilla/cream, touch of wheat/yeast APPEARANCE: hazy beige yellow, thin soft white head TASTE: grapefruit, citrus rind, light rind bitterness, PALATE: crisp, tart, a little oily, medium light body OVERALL: refreshing shandy, I like grapefruit so I enjoyed this, has grapefruit flavor without feeling like I'm drinking juice, not very complex but enough body to go with the sparkle.
3.0 Pours a cloudy pale yellow with a white head. Aromas of grapefruit juice. Nice lacing in the glass. Taste very citrusy. Lots of grapefruit flavor. Is exactly as advertised. Nice beer.
1.7 DATE: September 4, 2017... OCCASION: Labor Day afternoon, prepping for school tomorrow and saying goodbye to summer... GLASSWARE: Hoegaarden tumbler... pours a fluffy, two-finger white head that holds its own in the tumbler... the body is reminiscent of pineapple juice, utterly dense in its consistency... by the time this has been written, the head is now a tangible halo.... tart grapefruit, tangy like Tang, almost too sharp to approach... fizzy, thin, light-bodied, puckering in its mouthfeel... juicy, like pineapple juice itself, with the wheat a hushed mush behind the impact... this isn't really a beer that requires--or expects, I am guessing--a point-by-point analysis... this is a radler, and a rather thinly-profiled one at that... no hating, just rating, so not really my thing, but I have friends who drink this, and I will not refuse a can if it tossed my way... refreshing, benign, and not as off-putting as its aroma...
3.7 This is straight up like a grapefruit lemonade. One of the best shandies I've had.
3.7 Smell is amazing...popping with sweet Ruby red grapefruit ... appearance is cloudy...taste is disappointing in comparison to smell...much less flavor...like 70% water 30% sweet grapefruit juice...low diversity...needs to be more bold like the smell...
3.0 12 ounce bottle Sampled side by side with Great Divide’s Roadie Radler this shandy did not stand up. Some of their releases , while not great, manage to provide some enjoyment. This one just felt bland from start to finish. I’ll defer to their other options the next time I have to choose one. Aroma / Appearance - The body looks like you would expect of a typical Leinenkugel shandy - carbonation, bright color, and a general liveliness - but fails to capture the eyes beyond a few glances. The nose isn’t much better. A blend of lemon and grapefruit aromas attempt to reel you in. Much like an impatient fisherman the bait is not enough to lure in anything meaningful. Flavor / Palate - Grapefruit and citrus indicate this is another twist on the typical Leinenkugel [flavor] shandy formula. It’s not completely awful and certainly provide much more pleasant experiences than the core offerings. Even so I would turn to some truly independent regional and national brands if I was seeking a radler experience for a hot summer day.
3.1 Pint can - just failed a certification exam. Might as well drink to celebrate. Nose is grapefruit. Sip adds sweet zesty citrus peel. Crushable. Wish I liked grapefruit. Gets redundant after 8 sips or so.
2.6 Appearance: Pale light yellow. Very hazy. Thin ring of white bubbles. Nose: sweet candy malts. Bright grapefruit. Taste: like someone added sweetened grapefruit juice to a light beer post production. Bright, candy citrus. Heaps of grapefruit. Body: lighter and active. Parting thoughts: This was interesting. refreshing. Nearly too sweet, which is impressive considering it’s grapefruit flavored.
2.0 Thin weak white head on top of an opaque yellow body. It smells overwhelmingly of grapefruit. One must really love grapefruit to love this beer. Slightly sweet but mostly sour. Not a beer I can recommend. Not bad if you love grapefruit.
5.0 I would say right now in the summer this will always be my favorite beer. So good.
5.0 Great for a fruity beer. One of the easiest to drink
3.7 Great aroma with a grapefruit flavor - not sweet, but more of an essence. Probably one of my top summer drinks
2.4 Pour from a 16oz can. Cloudy pale yellow brew with a huge head. Aroma of grapefruit - not grapefruit hops but actual grapefruit juice. Taste is modest sweet malt and grapefruit. Not as fruity as actual grapefruit juice and sweeter. But there is a weird plastic taste that emerges and really ruins the experience - taste like something that has been wrapped up in shrink wrap way too long.
2.8 Sunset Wheat was one of the in the first rounds of when I was getting into craft beer. Since then, haven’t really found one of their’s that I like...but this one is pretty good and refreshing. The flavor is there, though mostly grapefruit and wheat. Super cloudy light pale yellow, almost white appearance. Something different for the hot summers.
4.2 One of my favorite summer beers. Little and drinkable without a sloshy beer gut feeling.
5.0 A very nice summer beer. I'm an IPA fan so a little fruity flavor is always enjoyable for my palate.
5.0 From the first sip of the creamy head to the last drop of this golden brew, it has by far the most refreshing taste all the more enhanced by the crisp grapefruit aroma and flavor. It is light and smooth, a perfect drink for the hottest summer day or night. Well paired with grilled chicken and fire roasted corn or grilled salmon and tricolor sweet pepper kabobs. Or enjoyed by itself with friends and family at a bonfire! Grab as many six packs you can carry, because when your friends get a taste of yours, they are going to want more your Leinenkugels Grapefruit Shandy.
3.6 Smells like grapefruit, tastes like grapefruit without the sourness or bitterness, though it manages this without being overly sweet. Pours golden and hazy, everyone agrees on that. As a fan of citrusy beers, I have to say this is one of my favorites, even though I do not eat grapefruit, ever. I was late to the Summer Shandy party (not sure why the word "shandy" makes me cringe) but now I really enjoy it in the summer, and I like the grapefruit variety even better. My favorite fruity beer, and the best of Leinenkugel’s shandy line.
2.9 12oz bottle picked up at Harmons Pours hazy straw yellow with a medium sized white head, some lacing. Aroma of fresh squeezed grapefruit. Flavor of grapefruit, wheat, plastic and lemon, dry finish Smells great but falls short on the taste.
3.1 Pretty solid shandy! Pours pale yellow w/ a nice white head & plenty of lacing. Aroma has some light grapefruit notes. Taste is primarily grapefruit & generally smooth. Not bad at all for this warm spring day!
3.0 Bottle 12 ounce poured to pint glass cold Sight: light pink, off white foam Smell: Fragrant aroma, fruity Taste: low bitterness, some sweetness Mouthfeel: fizzy, refreshing Overall: good beer, good value drank: Saturday, March 18, 2017 7:30 PM
3.1 Kroger bottle. Hazy pale gold with a white head. Aroma of ruby grapefruit juice. Flavor is ruby grapefruit, bread, dough, paper. Inoffensive, not too sweet. Drinkable but not something I’d seek out.
2.4 Bottle. Hazy gold with thin white head. Nose of rich fresh grapefruit. There is also some dough. Light taste of candy grapefruit and raw dough. There is also some odd hint of flowers. Meh. Light and boring. Not sweet, fruity or sour enough to be interesting.
3.2 Hazy straw golden with a foamy white head that recedes to a thin top. Wheaty and bright citrusy grapefruit juice nose. Crisp mild flavor thats very wheaty and semisweet with a bright pop of fresh grapefruit zest and flesh, though refrains from being bitter or acidic at all. Tastes very fresh and real but hides all the part of bitter grapefruit that I hate. Interesting flavor that is still a little 2-dimensional but quaffable and summertime refreshing.
