The Helles style was first brewed in Munich in 1895 and is now the most popular beer style in all of Germany. Like the classic German Helles style, Leinenkugel’s® Helles Yeah™ is an easy-drinking, everyday beer but ours is brewed with American hops for a bolder taste, brighter aroma and snappy clean finish.

2.8I had it from the bottle. The aroma is earthy with hints of hops and tea. The taste is the same with some bread and soapy notes. It’s pretty crisp and dry with an abrupt finish. It’s better than I expected. I’m usually not a huge fan of their beers.
3.8Bottle. Earthy aroma with a touch of hops. Golden in color. It has a good hop bitterness but not over the top. Good Beer.
3.0Bottled sample from the mixer pack. Gold in colour. Notes of hay. More bitter than I expected. Tasty
3.2Straw and hay aroma. Taste is herbal grassy hops, iced tea, and some light citrus bite.
3.0Bottle from Walmart. Crystal clear golden in color. Nose is a little grainy with a bit of grassy hoppiness. Creamy maltiness with a little bit of a hoppy finish. A touch of spice in the hops.
2.8Pours clear golden color with white head. Grassy and grainy aromas. Grassy and grainy flavor. Medium body with average carbonation.
3.7Not as hoppy as I usually like but really easy drinking in the summer. Very refreshing.
2.5Aroma is a little citrusy. Taste is citrusy upfront with a more amber-like malt aftertaste. Overall decently balanced.
3.4DATE TASTED: June 11, 2015... GLASSWARE: Ommegang 150th pokal... OCCASION: Cavs looking to go up 3-1...All in... APPEARANCE: thin, mostly yellow, translucent body that is swirling with activity; surprising two-finger off-white head that settles to a reasonable strength; ... AROMA: definite fragrance of lilac, garden herbs and lemon grass hops and hay malts--a bigger welcome than I expected from this dortmunder... PALATE: rather flat, thin and throaty; the "crisp" swirl around the tongue and resonates with a malty dryness... TASTE: fruity and beefy, with some vegetable and leaf--extra sweet at the start; a mixed bag of malt and earthy hops...a moderately flavorful beer... OVERALL: a surprisingly solid offering, one that isn’t the more recent fruity offerings from Leinenkugel... the hops definitely make this an Americanized version, at least in the bouquet; although the name--which I cannot believe has not been trademarked by previous brewers who used it--is a bit much, the beer is a nice nod to the style...
2.6Pours a straw color with a white head. Nose is malt with heavy corn notes. Taste is quite sweet. Not for me.
2.6Bottle that poured straw color with a white head. The aroma was malty with a corn and grain taste. Nothing spectacular.
2.7Shared with Strykzone on Facebook Chat. Poured a clear gold with a white head. Nose of grain and grass. Medium minus body. Flavor is OK but there is a citrus back that is kind of off putting. Finishes bitter. I was not very impressed though it is not a drain pour.
2.812 ounce bottle from Hayduke that we had together via facebook chat. Very clear golden with a soapy off white head. Just a little carbonation is visible rising. Some grain and grass in the aroma. Perhaps a little honey. First sip grabs my throat with a chemical / hop based bitterness. Not really pleasant at all. I do taste the grass and a hint of lemons. With an inch and a half left in the glass I began to enjoy this beer. Finally. It became tart but with a nice sweeter offset. The hop bill is higher than is typical for the style. Despite the improved finish, this was not a beer I could fall in love with. Its really not even a good one night stand.
2.6Rated on 12-23-2013 (Bottle) This beer pours a medium sized smooth white head that mostly diminishes, transparent yellow body, fast rising carbonation, and a fair amount of lacing. The aroma is grainy, malt, grassy, and a hint of earthiness. The flavor of this beer is bitter, grainy, malt, sweet, grassy, citrus, and has a very dry finish. The mouthfeel is lively carbonation and this is a light bodied beer. This beer is too bitter for my liking. It is not overly hoppy tasting, just a bit too bitter tasting.
2.2Clean crisp and overly simple to the point were it is actually rather boring. I can see how maybe on a hot summer day this could be refreshing but if I’m going German style beer in summer I’m going hefeweiss.
1.2Bottle @ home, picked up in a mixer sixer at Wilburs. Pours a clear golden appearance with an off white head. Aroma is full of corn, chalky grain, celery, and grass. Not good. Medium body. Moderately sweet and bitter. Twangy and corny. Cooked cauliflower and creamed corn. Pretty fucken bad.
2.7Bottle. Pours clear corn color. Small white head. Aroma of grain. Grainy flavor. Mild bitter in the mouth feel. Not bad, just not that great.
3.312oz bottle from Wegmans, Buffalo, NY. Amber with a loose white head and light carbonation; fresh grassy hop aroma; light grainy body with some sweetness; and a gentle grassy bitterness giving a crisp finish. Just what I expect from a Helles.
2.7I actually really did not care for this beer. It stung my nose and tongue, left an unpleasant yeast taste in my mouth and had a sour taste while drinking. I would not recommend this beer.
3.3Pours a clear golden color with a thick foam head that ends up lacing my glass. The aroma is crisp, with starch like corn grain notes, and has an herbel hop scent. The flavor is of cereal like grains with a subtle sweetness. I picked up on a pleasant yeast taste in the finish. The beverage has a thin body making it a very drinkable and a smooth brew. Overall the brewer made a great selection in the yeast. I think it helped with the subtle sweet qualities.
3.0This has an attractive pour, a light golden body with loads of bubbling and a tall creamy head. The aroma is a lightly sweet graininess accompanied by faint grassy scents. The taste is much the same but has the addition of a moderate grassy/earthy bitterness. It’s in the teens outside, and not much warmer in my apartment. I’m drinking this the wrong time of the year.
3.9Pours a clear yellow gold, think and lumpy cream head with good lacing. Loads of carbonation and a light malt aroma. Straightforward malt taste with nicely balanced hops. Hops aftertaste with clean mouthfeel.
3.2Bottled. Poured clear, bright golden with a nice white head. The aroma picked up crisp, bright lemon zest and peppery notes over soft bready malts.. very clean. The flavor found honey and bready malts at the core with lemon zest around.. some white pepper toward the back.. refreshing finish. Lighter-bodied, dry, and a touch grainy.. again, refreshing.
2.4i was thirsty this one is not that great...what do ya do all that was available.........
3.5Gift from
Nic and joe. Pour is yellow and thin lingering head. Nose is cereal and muted. Smooth mouth feel. Hint of grape. Decent and would be a good autumn brew.
2.8Bottle, pours a crystal cleat light orange amber. Full fluffy white head. Light grain and cereal flavors and aroma. Still has that euro noble hop bite but also fair amount of sweetness to it. Just OK
3.2Bottle - Golden pour with a huge foamy white head. Nose is starchy grain, a little corn, a touch of honey, and a bit of herbal hopping. Cereal grains in the taste, with honey, a hint of white grape, and a light yeasty finish. A bit of metallic herbal hops on the finish and a little peanut butter (!). Pretty harsh carbonation and a thin body. Better than I figured it’d be, but would never get this over Dortmunder Gold..
2.6Pours a clear, watery looking yellow with a full and foamy, white, long lasting head. The aroma contains, corn, grain, some floral hops, grass, and some slight wheat. The taste is rather mild. It has some metallic impressions. Other than this, its pretty much grass and grain. The aftertaste is a subtle, although lingering grainy taste. Lighter in body, slick in texture, and about average in carbonation. A plus for this one is that it is easier to drink than most of your generic beers.
2.7Poured a decent yellow with a frothy head. Slight nose. Adjuncts in the mouth- a slightly more tasty Budweiser.
3.2Pours from a bottle a clear amber with a medium off-white head with thin bubbles. Aroma is a balanced, light malt, light aromatic hops. Flavor is a light well balanced maltiness and hoppiness. Nothing special but nothing bad. Thin in the mouth.
