2.7 Tap at the Leinie Lodge on 7-22-16. Poured clear golden, dissipating white head. Aroma of grain, corn. Taste was medium sweet, grains, watered down flavor.
4.0 B. Pours a crystal clear golden color with white head. A little watery, but not bad
3.6 12 ounce bottle into lager glass, best before 1/18/2016. Pours crystal clear bright golden yellow color with a 1 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings down the glass, with a light amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of cracker, corn, white bread, herbal, grass, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance of pale malt and light earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of cracker, corn, white bread, herbal, grass, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Light herbal/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of cracker, corn, white bread, and herbal/grassy earthiness on the finish. Good robustness and balance of pale malt and light earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Moderate dryness. Very clean on lager flavors with minimal yeast ester notes present. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, crisp, and lightly grainy/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present after the finish as expected of 4.6%. Overall this is a good pale adjunct lager style. All around good robustness and balance of pale malt and light earthy hop flavors; and very smooth, crisp, clean, and refreshing to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.
1.9 Serviceable ale at Best. Drinkable if nothing else is around. But a decent change from the typical summer shandy
3.6 I think all of Leinenkugels’ fruit beers are the same: fruity and delicious, but leave you wishing they had something more distinguishing than which fruit is in this particular beer you’re drinking at that moment
3.8 Rating it for its style it’s a very drinkable, decent beer. No foul tastes like some Pale Lagers. If you like the style, try it.
3.3 Can (Original Chippewa’s Pride can). Corn and barely malt aroma. Golden yellow with large white head. Mildly sweet barley malt and mildly bitter hay flavor. Nice body. Really not a bad beer - as good as PBR.
2.2 This shitty beer got me through a lot of cold college nights...it is not good ...but affordable and drinkable...memory rating....(#540)....
2.6 Average lager. Drinkable on a hot summer day after mowing the lawn. Nothing special.
2.5 Brings back a lot of memories of childhood vacations to Wisconsin and seeing all the signage around the state and seeing Dad knock back a few. Always a must have when back up north. A traditional American lager. Easy drinking, but nothing spectacular. Nice beer to drink while watching a Packers game. More about the nostalgia than anything else.
2.1 "a decent attempt at a cheap, quaffable lager. definitely nothing special, but not offensive either. poured a fizzy golden in color, medium-thin bodied. passable flavor and aroma, on the malty side."
2.6 Tap at Minnesota State Fair, Leinie’s Booth. Small aroma. some light sweetish malt. Dark straw color. Gentle sweet malt, honeyish, very little bittering, mild finish. Thin body. Clean and crisp. A small step up from the macro stuff. I can see how this might be a Midwest college favorite.
3.0 Pours a clear golden color with white head. Cereal grain is the main note on the nose; follows onto the palate. On the finish a simple hop resin note appears. Very drinkable lager.
2.5 12oz can. Pours yellow. It’s not as sweet as some of the other macro-crap lagers but otherwise not much different, but seems to have a regional fanbase for whatever reason.
2.7 For the style this is a good beer. Has some flavor, great on a hot day, great for camping or fishing. If you're in Wisconsin you can get it for $12 a case. No idea why anyone in that state would drink any other pale lager at that price. (Well maybe Point Lager) Not a great beer but if u need cheap or want a pale lager can't do much better
2.6 I’ve had this more than enough times when I lived in Michigan and I actually don’t see it around here. No worries, here’s my notes. I’ve had this in a pint glass and a pilsener a way many of times. The appearance was a nice golden light orange to almost yellow color with a soft one finger white foamy head that dies at a nice pace leaving an adequate stringy light somewhat clingy lacing. The smell was somewhat malty and left a lot of hoppy bitterness to be desired. Hmmm...ok, well, I do see its an American Pale Lager, so I won’t be too harsh here on it. The taste was somewhat malty and really didn’t have much else going on. The palate was about a light to medium and didn’t really have anything else telling me this is anything stellar. Overall, this is just another American Pale Lager, nothing bad, but still nothing extraordinary. I’ve had it with food before (a fair amount of pizza) over the years and always thought it was good.
2.3 From bottle. Nice change of pace beer but not one that would be stocked routinely in the fridge.
2.2 For beers of this caliber (I use this term loosely), this is one of my favorites. Maybe it’s because each sip takes me back to my Wisconsin College days, or warm summer nights on the lakefront @ Summerfest. Regardless, it blows any Miller or Bud product out of the water. Nice hop aroma, clean and crisp. Just how cheap beer is supposed to be. Be warned about overdoing it with Leinies Orginal. It has the ability to leave you in rough condition the next morning.
2.8 12oz bottle (Old Notes)-Pours a clear golden with a decent head. Aroma of corn and grains. Taste of the same with a bit of bitterness. This light bodied brew is pretty well balanced and goes down easy.
2.0 Picked up at a Krogers. Pours a clear light golden yellow with a medium sized fizzy white head. The aroma and flavor have grainy corn, grass, pale malts, some metallic notes and a light skunky character. Not even sure this is worth the tick.
3.3 7/21/12. Can poured into a pint glass. Appealing, light color. Smooth and light tasting. A very drinkable session beer. Crisp flavor. I would drink again and recommend to a certain type of beer drinker. ---Rated via the Gridfather
2.5 Beer the way your dad use to know it (assuming your dad was a middle-class, white guy from a Rustbelt town who watched football/baseball after cutting grass/raking leaves/shovelling snow every Sunday). Pale gold, malt, hops, lager flavor (best description I can give). A step up from my go to cheap beers (Bud, PBR, Canadian). I use to drink a lot of this stuff.
2.6 clear light golden color. mild carbonation, surprisingly nice frothy white head. nose is light floral hoppiness and a bit of grain. flavor is mostly cereal grains, but is well balanced with hops. really not bad for the style.
2.4 Clear gold, with a fluffy white head. Slightly sour grain malt, honey aroma. Taste is mild corn, grain, grass. Watery, bland....but still better than many an American Pale Lager.....
2.9 Clear yellow. Fair white head. Light body.not thin. Creamy. Grain. Corn. Pretty smooth. Some sweetness. Mild straw brightness. Not bad.
2.8 A guaranteed find in the North Woods of Wisconsin! Pours a light yellow with minimal, white head and decent carbonation. Aroma is very grainy with a lot of corn and bitterness. Mouth is also slightly bitter. A lot of grain present with a slight fruitiness. Once again, a Wisconsin quintessential.
2.6 12oz bottle poured into a cup at Fenway Park. Pours clear light gold with a medium white head. Nose is grain, hops; flavor follows with slight bitterness. Medium body with good carbonation. For a ballpark beer, definitely better than Bud Light, but I wouldn’t drink it elsewhere.
1.7 On tap to tick this one off. Watery with a tendency to get really bad as it warms.
2.3 Always a good choice for cheap pale lager from a can. A little bit of metallic taste, but other then that its a really decent and drinkable lager. big head, moderate carbonation, kind of harsh on the palate partially cause of that metallic taste I think.
2.0 bottle. golden with small head. i wasn’t expecting much and this delivered. blah lager, slightly less watery than most.
