2.9Pours a hazy golden yellow. Aromas of bread, fruit and spices. Flavors of fruit, malt and some hints of spice.
2.8Tasted from bottle. Pours a nice murky orange with thick white head. Aroma is orange and other citrus but overall muted and not as fresh smelling as I'd like. Taste is moderate sweet with no bitterness. Flavors of orange, coriander, lemon. Average to below average. Oberon blows it away.
3.812 ounce bottle into pint glass, best before 4/18/2016. Pours hazy golden orange color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of lemon, blueberry, peach, orange peel, coriander, light pepper/clove, wheat, cracker, light honey, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/earthy yeast, fruit/spice, and moderate pale malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of big lemon, blueberry, peach, orange peel, coriander, light pepper/clove, wheat, cracker, light honey, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Light herbal/spice bitterness and minimal fruit tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon, blueberry, peach, orange peel, coriander, wheat, cracker, light honey, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/earthy yeast, fruit/spice, and moderate pale malt flavors; with a great malt/bitter/spiciness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready, and slightly sticky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present after the finish as expected of 4.9%. Overall this is a very good fruited witbier style. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/earthy yeast, fruit/spice, and moderate pale malt flavors; and very smooth and refreshing to drink. A very enjoyable offering.
3.0Originally rated on 6/8/08. The second out of my sampler case, and the best out of the four in my opinion. It had a very small white head, little lacing was left. The body was thick yellow with an orange tinge, with small floaters. The aroma was floral and friuty, with an aftertaste of cherries, berries and citrus also present. also a slight taste of alcohol was noticeable. A little different for a wheat but not bad, worth a try
3.0Orange and cloudy. You get the artificial fruit candy orange. This isn’t for me. I prefer their honeyweiss. Wife thinks it taste like candy so she can finish the rest.
3.6I think all of Leinenkugels’ beers are the same: fruity and delicious, but leave you wishing they had something more distinguishing than which fruit is in this particular beer you’re drinking at that moment.
3.7This is a good wheat beer, plenty of flavor not hoppy and bitter smooth drinking
3.6Hazy, orange-yellow pour with a white head. The aroma has a lot of orange juice with some light lemon. It has a light body with smooth texture and average carbonation. The taste is sweet and refreshing.
4.1Pours a very cloudy orange. About one finger head. Lots of little floaties in there. Not a lot of lacing.
Smells very fruity, like rock candy. There might be a touch of spiciness in there.
Flavor is very sweet. Again, rock candy or Fruity Pebbles, and its very nice. I’m sure it’s chock full of artificial ingredients, but it works great. There is a little spicy citrus in it, must be the coriander. It also has some wheat bread flavor. But its buried in there. I only noticed it after it warmed up a bit.
Mouthfeel is medium. It’s unfiltered so it has some texture to it, but it works well with the flavor. It’s very sweet and slightly spicy. It’s fruity. It makes it extremely drinkable. You could pass this off as juice or kool aid or something. Its super refreshing.
Overall, I enjoyed this a lot. I’m not a super fan of flavored beers, because they usually fall short of expectations. This never mentioned fruit flavor on the label so it was surprising. But this is good, better than expected. I’m a little ashamed that I like it as much as I do. I would certainly have it again, but I probably wouldn’t commit to a 6 pack.
4.212 oz. bottle. Pours hazy orange. Aroma of citrus, wheat and coriander. Taste citrus and spices.

2.5Rated based on notes taken 15 July 2012 -- Artificial flavors galore! Fruity pebbles.
3.2Draft at Miller Valley. Somewhat opaque copper color with off-white head and substantial lacing. Spice, licorice, and pepper aroma. Citrus and string coriander upfront follows by grass and wheat with licorice. Substantial mouthfeel. Long, drying finish.
3.3Date: June 3, 2015... Glassware: Weihenstephan wheat... Occasion: pre-Fourth of July prep (mostly) done... Appearance: hazy, golden, glowing--an unfiltered look; the head is snow white and thick, leaving solar flares as it descends from a three-finger head to a quarter-inch cream... Aroma: surprisingly fruity hits early--coriander, yes, but bubblegum, malty wheat, and some woody hints; fragrant wheat esters complete an alluring start... Palate: smooth, slightly astringent sip; surprisingly creamy and medium-bodied; some effervescence late; some intrusion from pulpy, woody textures...Taste: the coriander suggests orange peel, with some odd bitterness and band-aid astringency; probably could use a garnish to amplify the flavor profile; otherwise, pretty limited .Overall: not quite the sunset promised by the label; the hops addition makes for a strong start, but the most important aspect of the experience--the taste--is a bit off...the beer is refreshing but not enjoyable as a stand-alone; crisp but uneven...
2.9Leinenkugel’s beers fill some niche slots on my go-to lists. (Think Inexpensive and Commonly Available.) Hey, sometimes you need some backup options. Sunset Wheat may not be the go-to in the Wheat Ale category, but it could be a runner-up in the right circumstances. Appearance is nice. I’m a sucker for heady wheat ales and Sunset Wheat isn’t do too bad. Aroma is faint but has a nice bread note. Flavor reveals subtle spiciness, honey sweetness, and smooth malt. Mouthfeel is relatively thirst-quenching yet on the thin side. While Blue Moon is still my go-to Wheat that can be found anywhere, there may be times I’d be willing to swap the Sun(set) for the Moon.
2.8Pour is a light golden color. Sweet malts. Fruity nose. Finish is crisp and clean.
3.6A good summer beer. The color is a cloudy orange. It is very good but like the summer Shandy is very fruity. I would still recommend it as a light summer beer.
1.6Aroma: Medium-high orange zest. medium apricot.
Appearance: Hazy, burnt gold body. Small, white head, fair retention.
Flavour: Medium floral, fruity, peachy, apricots. Medium crispness. Sherbet. Dry finish with lingering sherbet. Medium sweetness, low bitterness.
Mouthfeel: Medium body. Medium-high carbonation.
Overall: Tastes like sherbet sweets. The sweetness makes it hard to want to have another one. Not meeting the spicy requirements of a wit.
330 ml bottle, poured. Thanks Danie!
16A. Witbier
1.5Leinenhugels are always too fruity and sweet for me and this is no different. 'Beer with natural flavors' = wine cooler to me. Not a bad drink but it is a bad beer
3.2Very smooth wheat beer. Subtle. Flavors of malt and Coriander
2.9I give this an across the board average rating. I used to think it was above average, but the more I try it as well as other witbiers I have to rate it middle of the road. Fruity-citrus flavor, but not as citrusy as Blue Moon, and a bit lighter and thinner. Pours a pale golden-yellow versus a yellow-orange like Blue Moon. Has a little bit of head. A decent daytime beer if looking for something on the lighter side.
2.8drank straight from bottle this past summer..fruity,grassy,wheat aroma..tastes like froot loops cereal..too sweet.
2.9Old rating. Bottle from Old Town. Bowl of fruity pebbles on the nose. Bowl of fruity pebbles on the palate with a wheat and corn aftertaste. Fairly refreshing although a little too sweet.
2.8Bottle at San Juan. Hazy orange color, medium-sized off-white head. Aroma has sweet fruits, coriander and bread. Light bodied, watery palate. Flavor has sweetish wheaty fruityness, light coriander. Kind of witbier. Not anything I like so much, but my first Leinenkugels after 13200 ratings!
4.8This beer has a great overall flavor that of a bowl of blueberries or a bowl fruity pebbles
3.9Pretty good summer beer in the vain of fruity wheat beers a la Blue Moon. This has a richer flavor and worth your time if your other choices are exclusively Miller, Coors, Bud.
3.012oz bottle from Kroger, Grandview. Yellow gold pour. Aroma of lemon, lime, wheat, light sour. Tastes are sweet wheat, lemon, berry. Light palate. Can see why the uninitiated would like this - goes down easy enough.
3.0Hazy orange amber with a small white head. Sweet orange and lemon aroma on top of a bit of wheat. Flavor is sweet and softly citrusy, with a light graininess. Palate has a medium to light body and soft carbonation.
2.6bottle @ Party Town / Florence KY --- Cloudy medium orange amber, persistent 1" egg-white head, wavy bands of lace. Bright aroma of fresh orange. Taste is malt and orange citrus that moves easily through the palate, becoming tart on the swallow, then taking on an unusual (but not bad) sweet malty orange to finish. Actually, a reasonable, thirst quenching, but also bloating brew. Jury’s still out...enjoy the orange.
2.212 oz. bottle from BevMo. Light nose with some pleasant sweetness, ginger and orange peel overtones. Unbalanced taste seems artificial and candy like with no discernible malt or hops background. Thin body. Weak overall, with a slight sourness. Otherwise pretty much like a soda pop.
