The nose will enjoy pepper and gentle roasting aromas such as cocoa and bitter chocolate. After a crisp initial taste, the malt releases more gentle avours. The texture is dry. A subtle acid kick from the roasting aromas leads to the nale: toffee, toast and cocoa notes gently linger. Dominantly malty, slim, dry.

Fein!

3.5 Bottle 35cl. Poured into a stem lager glass. Sweet malt nose; murky amber brown, good teo finger off-white to beige head, half-way lasting, minimal lacing; aroma toasted malt, caramel, hay, light nutty notes; smooth taste, medium to light heavy sweet and light bitter, malty, toffee, licorice, raisins, nutty; sweetbitter aftertaste, toasted malts, sugary; medium body, watery to oily texture, soft carbonation; pleasant and interesting Vienna, easy to drink, perhaps a tad too sweet.
3.7 330ml bottle from Brauhaus Lemke am Alex, Berlin (€2.18): Definitely a sweeter beer than expected without being sickening, the beer was also more fruity and floral than anticipated but the balance was good and prevented any one flavour overpowering. I particularly enjoyed the berries and lighter summer fruits that came through in the early going which were unexpected but seemed to work well with the darker malts and caramel. It was quite an easy going and drinkable beer with enough difference between it and a standard Vienna lager to keep things interesting throughout, as well as making it one that I wouldn’t mind having again.
3.0 0,5 l draught @ Brauhaus Lemke am Hackeschen Markt, Berlin. Appearance is dark brown, cloudy and with a decent head. This is supposed to be Wiener style lager, but to me it looks like unfiltered dunkel. Taste is, however, quite good. Dark malts are balanced nicely with bitter hops.
3.5 Tap at the brewpub. Brownish coloured, small head. Surprising smokey aroma. Starts fine malty, earthy, hints of some spices. Light chocolate notes. Finish a bit milder. Not as smokey as the aroma made me exspect. Nice one!
3.6 Draft at the source. Clear amber brown color, tan head. Aroma of rich roasty cocoa and burnt caramel. Taste is creme brulee and chocolate. Very nice.
