Lervig Barley Wine 2017 BA Bourbon

Information from http://lervig.no/en/brew/barley-wine/:
"Our Barley Wine is the most special beer we make, being produced only once every year. It’s a blend of different bourbon barrel-aged vintages that have spent at least one year in wood. We blend the different barrels, and add a bit of freshly brewed Barley Wine to obtain the best possible version.
This year, the Barley Wine was brewed using a double-boil technique in which we evaporate the beer to a high concentration of sugar, add water back to the wort, and then boil it down again to increase Maillard reaction processes and build up some intense caramelization. We went easy on the hops to allow the malt and bourbon characteristics inherited from the barrels to be the champions of this beer.
The aromas and flavours are intense, and should be enjoyed slowly by serving at room temperature to allow even more layered nuances to shine through and add to the beautiful complexity of this beer. We hope you enjoy this as much as we do."

4.3 bottle at home. After the disappointing game of Rugby I needed something big dark and strong and this fit the bill very nicely. It was very boozy with a choclate raisin edge with just a touch of vanilla. it was very good and sent me sleeping very quickly

Zarówno w smaku i aromacie miód, rodzynki, suszone owoce, melasa, wanilia, dębina i czekolada. Gęste, słodkie i szlachetnie rozgrzewające.
Każdy kolejny raz jednak - który go pije - smakuje mi coraz bardziej Aromat: Susz owocowy, słodycz, akcenty jakby miodowe, kompot. Z szyjki i zimne - jeszcze delikatnie. Znika niemal do zera. Pozostaje przy ściankach kielicha. Do tego w środku cosik pływa. Tak zwane farfocle. Osobiście nie przeszkadzają mi jednak wcale Smak: Pierwsza atakuje słodycz. Jest Bourbon i nawet cigareta przy końcu. W kolejnych haustach wchodzą tu toffee i czekolada. Robi się bogato. Słodycz umiejętnie kontrowana - tytoniem - goryczką - nawet jakby orzechem. Tylko zapach pozostaje niezmiennie słodziakiem. W recenzjach kolegów po fachu widzę, kokosa. Cóż - na granicy auto sugestii. Consi - consa. Podniebienie: Degustacyjnie, lepko, wysublimowanie. Alkohol 12,9% to też kpina. No i śmieszna sprawa. Jest jak wino. Im starsze tym lepsze 🙂 Ma u mnie casus Rocheforta10. Chyba po prostu musiałem do niego dorosnąć. Na UNT z 3.75 dałbym mu teraz 4.3. Jest złożone, bogate, degustacyjne, wymagające. Nietypowe jak na Barleya. W opisie producenta ( Saluto Great Mike Murphy! ) jak wół stoi, że jest to blend. Jestem w stanie w to uwierzyć.

4.2 330ml bottle served in a snifter glass. A: Pours a dark amber to brown color forming a small tan head with low retention that forms and leaves only few spotty lacings in the glass. Nose is very sweet. S: Strong caramel, toffee and sweet malts. Dark dry fruits (mainly plums ans raisins) and nuts. Wood. Flowery hops. A bit boozy. T: Sweet upfront taste. Strong notes of toffee, caramel malts, dry plums, nuts, raisins, oak and grassy hops. Medium bitterness. Sweeter than bitterer. M: Heavy body. Creamy. Low bitterness. Caramel, toffee and dry plums in the aftertaste. O: Good drinkability. Not my favorite beer style but still a masterpiece Barley Wine.

4.8 Provata in bottiglia da 0,33. Colore marrone scura, quasi nero, schiuma bianca poco persistente. Al naso soprattutto cioccolato (molto) e nocciola. Al palato ancora cioccolato, liquirizia e poi in conclusione esce fuori Il bourbon. Corpo pieno e carbonazione media.
