3.6 Bottle (from Koht). Pours copper with beige head. The head doesn’t stay. Aroma is sweet, malt, caramel, fruits, dates. Falvor is sweet and bitter, malt, caramel, dates. Finish is dry bitter with some fruityness. Alcohol is noticeable. Overall: good brew, but a bit too boozy.
3.6 Bottle. BB 14.08.16. Pours a rusty, murky brownish amber with small, fast receding head. The nose is sweet, soft, warm, caramelly, toffee-y, slightly boozy. Tastes along the same lines, reminiscent of Fuller’s Vintage Ale, but a bit lesser than that. Sweet, full, warm, caramelly. Pretty soft and smooth, active thin carbonation. Not bad, in fact pretty nice.
3.4 From bottle at Clarion Energy Hotel with KL and ES. Muddy brown. Beige head. Aroma of prunes, dates, roasted nuts, dark syrup and brittle. Taste of medium dark malt, prunes, dates, rasins, dark caramel, honey and brittle, balanced with medium bitterness. A hint of herbs in aftertaste. Still not too sweet, and with good drinkability.
3.4 (Lervig Brewers Reserve Winter Ale) Bottle 330 ml at home, served into a nifter, ABV 8.3% Deep red colour on the body, cloudy, with a small and thin tan head on top. Average retention. Aroma of caramel, red fruits, figs, raisins. Sweet taste, malty, with red fruits, caramel. light metal, raisins, figs, alcohol. Medium thin body, soft carbonation, sticky palate. Good.
3.6 Bottle at home. Brown beer small head. Aroma is malts and raisins. Taste is the same. Sweet with alcohol boozyness. Hints of rumlike taste. Nice
3.4 Pours a hazy tawny brown with a white head. Toffee and raisin taste with a very full mouthfeel. Great, complex flavours with an aftertaste reminiscent of a dark rum. This is an excellent winter ale. Thanks to Holmen 1 for the bottle!
3.4 From zombier. In Duvel glass. Playinh Memoria. Nice beer. The first winter warmer i taste and is drinkable. Sweetness and alcohol is apreciable but not overwhelming
3.5 Bottle @ benzai. Very hazy redish colour with a small off-wjite head. Smells raisins, malts, horribly sweet, molasses, syrup. Tastes molasses, syrup, rinse appelstroop, sweet, raisins. Medium body, soft carbo.
3.4 Bottle @ weekly tasting shared with Dutchdrebus. Pretty hazy reddish color, small off-white head that diminishes quickly. Aroma is malts, sweetness, lightly alcohol and some sugar. Taste malts, sweetness, molasses, raisins, sugar, slightly alcohol. Decent to medium body, soft carbonation.
2.8 Aroma of dark malt, caramel, raisins, hint of chocolate, dark fruity notes, alcohol. Flavour is sweet with a light bittersweet finish. Body and aroma are okay but I’m not a fan of such ultra sweet beers.
3.4 Bottle from Biernavigatie, BB Summer 2016, large sample. Cloudy brown color, short frothy off-white head. Aroma of caramel, toffee, spicy yeast, raisin, slight fruity. The raisins make it smell like an aged belgian dark, although it’s not aged at all, seeing the BB date. Slight sweet in taste, lots of raisin again. Aroma is a bit more complex, but flavor is all about raisins. Interesting stuff, though a bit one-dimensional.
4.1 A real treat! Gentle despite it’s amount of alcohol. It is very tasteful with a pleasant appereance of rye malt.
3.4 24.1.2014. Kuohui pullosta ulos! Tuoksussa karamellista mallasta, rusinaa ja pihkaa. Maku on melko makea, kypsää hedelmää, rusinaa, hentoa yrttisyyttä. Makeutta on hieman liikaa, mikä tuntuu varsinkin jälkimaussa.
3.5 33 cl bottle fro Vinmonopolet. Pours hazy dark brownish with a small beige head. Aromas of dried fruits and caramel. Taste is bittersweet. You can feel the warmth of the alcohol in this ale.
3.5 Bottled. Pours hazy, deep amber with a small off-white head. Aroma of slightly roasted caramel, raisins and berry notes. Sweet flavor that ends up more dry. Medium bodied oily texture and soft carbonation. A nice winter ale.
3.3 Bottle at home. One year old. Pours a clear, amber color with a small, beige head. Aroma of dried fruit, berries, leather, caramel and oak. The flavor has more caramel, dried fruit, wood and leather. Has a slick mouth feel, and a light bitterness. A nice, balanced and rich ale with a lot of dried fruit through it all.
3.6 Bottle from Vinspecialisten, Randers. Unclear reddish brown with a small beige head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel and lots of dried fruit. Flavor is quite sweet and moderate bitter. Sweet finish with hints of warming alcohol. Soft. 081214
3.8 Sample at Nordic Brew 2014, Fredrikshavn, Denmark. Clear amber/copper beer with a decent beige head. Malty caramel aroma, bready, raisins, banana, figs, crackers, some toffee. Caramel flavor, raisins, figs, banana, crackers, warming alcohol.
3.2 Hazy dark ruby with small tan head. Aroma is raisins, dark fruit, caramel, and some alcohol. Slick palate. Aftertaste is rich, dark, fruity, raisins, caramel and spicy alcohol. Overall: Nice and easy drinking winter ale.
3.4 Mikon kanssa Pyöräkadulla. Not exactly my cup of beer, quite nice ale still, sweet and malty in a drinkable way.
3.3 Poured from a 12 oz bottle courtesy of my Secret Santa, gunnar. Aroma is very sweet with lots of caramel and toffee. Lighter burnt sugar character along with raisin, fig and prune. Hints of roast and a touch of alcohol. Pours a slightly hazy, copper amber color with some light brown hues. A thin, tan head quickly disappears. No lacing and moderate legs. Flavor is also fairly sweet, more so in the finish. Moderate caramel and toffee notes with faint roast. Moderate raisin with light fig and prune and faint cherry. Some burnt sugar and a touch of alcohol in the finish. Low bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium full bodied with medium low carbonation. Low astringency and low but noticeable alcohol warmth. Overall, an alright beer and good for the winter but I am not a huge fan of the overly sweet, raisin and burnt sugar forward beer. A nice sipping beer, but I think I would choose a bigger beer for a sipper on a cold night.
3.3 Bona cervesa, es equilibrada i gustosa. Buena cerveza, es equilibrada y sabrosa.
3.4 Bottle from alko järvenpää, finland. Hazy dark ruby color, white head. Aroma is malty, bread, spices, raisins. Sweet malty body, rye bread, raisins, spices, licorice, hint of alcohol on the back.
3.2 Tan head, unclear amber-copper body. Dark malts and fruity hops to the nose. Tastes dark caramel malts, hops, dark syrup, cognac, dissolved raisins, yeast, fermented berries. Strong body. Finishes malty on the barbecue (roasted) side. Well balanced. 33CL 8.3% B@Vinmonopolet.
3.4 Brunlig med lite skum. Aroma av malt, rosiner og annen tørket frukt, gjær og kanskje litt karamell? Smaken er søtlig malt og så mildt bitter, med innslag av tørket frukt, karamell og alkohol. Medium/tykk konsistens. Ok mild bitterhet i ettersmaken.
2.2 Bottle 33 cl. Pours unclear copper in color with tan head. Sweet malty notes, bozyness and brown sugary notes in aroma. Sweetish taste with some boozy notes appearing.
2.8 Oh yes nicely warming and some warming flavour too but in general quite boring and unmemorable.
3.4 Short beige head. Light yellow berries aroma. Dark opaque copper body. Very little hop or malt in the taste, but a nice balance with light bitterness and average warmth. Pleasant after all.
3.4 Light brown, bubbly beer with a brief beige head. Bread and earthiness on the nose. Coffee, bread, raisin, a bit dry but has a this caramelised sweetness in it. A mix of slight bitterness and sourness. Crispy carbonation. Medium body. Refreshingly different in my opinion and the sourness is in good amounts. I like this.
2.7 Uklar brunorange med mørk beige skum. Karamell, moden stenfrukt og rosinlukt. Søt fruktig smak. Kort ettersmak, lite ettersmak
