Lervig Check In IPA

Lervig Check In IPA

Old school hops, and lots of them, make this IPA an instant classic. Brewed with Cascade and Ahtanum which gives it a floral and citrus flavor. The balance of Munich and Caramel malts adds a nice body without overdoing the sweetness.

Malts: Pale malt, Munich mals, Caramel malts.

Hops: Aurora, Cascade, Ahtanum, Crystal, Vic.

Food pairings: bacon cheeseburger, Tom Yum soup, farmhouse cheeses.

3.6 I bought this beer in one coop, in front of Zurich HB. I drank it yesterday for the birthday of my brother in Lausanne. In my own opinion, it is a regular IPA, easy to drink for hot days, brown/yellow and troubled body, white foam, regular carbonation. The taste is watery, regular bitterness, not staying so long in the mouth, pine, hoppy but not at the extreme.
3.2 Bottle from Saveur bières.com. Cloudy orange color, white head. Fruit, hops, pleasant brew
3.9 Arômes prononcé de houblon et de malt. Peu de bulles et de mousse. Un goût prononcé de houblon et de pin et une amertume qui ne persiste pas en bouche.
3.6 330ml bottle. Pours slightly hazy amber, white head. Piney, woody, hoppy in aroma. Taste follows to nose, citrussy, resinous. Medium bodied, average carbo. Nice bitter, resinous IPA.
Sizzles out quite fast in the mouth though. Smooth mouthfeel without being particularly silky. Resinous. Not much of a tail end. Couple this with Ryo Fukui’s A Letter From Slowboat.
3.1 Légers arômes de houblon. Robe orange trouble. Collet éphémère. Amère, résineux, peu fruité.
3.3 Aroma; flower, caramel, leaves, more fruit and tropic perfume. Look; off white head, misty golden body. Taste; hops, flower, caramel, leaves, hops, bread - nice hoppy soft balanced end. Feel; very comfortable. Overall; nice ipa. [can thanx2 Gunnar, at session@Pivoteka H7 Tromsö with Finn & Rune 2017aug31 5374'14]

3.1 Flaske 330ml. Gave fra gunnar. Delt med djoeye og Rune hos førstnevnte 31 Aug 17. Varm gylden. Lavt tett skum. Litt lacing. Lett plommearoma. Smaken litt krydder. Pepper. Blir lett tørr etter hvert.
3.5 330ml bottle, many thanks to Gunnar. Pearl white head, misty warm golden body, decent lacing. Floral hops on the nose with hints of citrus. Blended taste of pine, herbal hops, peaches and bread-like malts. Ends with a rounded dry bitter touch. Fine depth. Pretty nice.(Joint session with djoeye and Finn, Tromsø 31.08.2017).
3.6 Bottle from håndverker stuene. Pours hazy deep amber. Nose of pine resin, lemon, flowers. Taste is bitter fruit, citrus peel, pith.
3.4 Small yellowish head, distributing lace over orange-golden beer. Very fruity hops’ nose with nectarine, lunaria, citrus, but also valerian, blackcurrant leaf. Quite dry, wry, on the verge of astringency, but the bitterness is not at all excessive. Citrus, oranges, marmalade. Long lasting flavours, steadily diminishing in intensity. Very spritzy, despite the small head it feels very carbonated. Light body, hopoilslick. Nice flavour/aromaprofile, yet not one to go raving about. A little too much CO² for me.
3.7 Light amber with medium white head. Fruity aroma. Not too bitterness with remarkable malty sweetness and fruity notes.
4.3 21/VII/17 - 33cl bottle @ Belgian Ticks Tasting (home) - BB: 19/IV/18 (2017-1103) Thanks to 77ships for sharing the bottle! Little cloudy orange beer, creamy irregular off-white head, little stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: nice stuff, tropical fruits, mango, citrus, bit of pineapple, grapefruit. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: bitter, hoppy, citrus, lots of grapefruit, bit sweet, fruity, some mango, refreshing flavour with a nice sweet touch. Aftertaste: lots of grapefruit, bitter, citrus, hoppy, very dry and resinous finish. Lovely stuff! Maybe it just stands out between this bunch of Belgian style ales we’re dunking today, but I really liked it.
2.9 Cascade is dominant with piney, citrus hops on the nose with some floral notes. Fairly light in the body with lots of bitterness. A nod to Sierra Nevada with for building a great tradition.
4.2 Bonne IPA, on sent bien le pin qui donne un goût prononcé à la bière. À regoûter !
3.3 Bottle. Pours a clear golden orange with a mostly lasting foamy white head. Aroma is of pine, citrus, grapefruit, melon, grassy. Taste is of grapefruit, pine, citrus, melon, kiwi. Watery to oily mouthfeel, soft to medium carbonation.
3.8 D?couverte dans la Saveur Box. Bi?re tr?s florale au nez. En bouche tr?s r?sineuse, pin, s?che. Bonne bi?re.
3.5 bottiglia 33 cl, schiuma bianca fine media persistenza, colore giallo paglierino torbido, al naso frutto della passione agrumi, in bocca malto agrumi frutta tropicale uva, corpo leggero abbastanza secca, carbonatazione moderata, amaro accentuato lungo nel finale. Stavanger..... vecchi ricordi... 22.07.17
3.8 Bottle shared by 77ships. Irregular, off-white, moussy head with an opening middle, hazy straw blonde robe with ochre-ish hue. Aroma of pine resin, old dry grapefruit peel, sundried tomatoes, lemon zest, old biscuit, something wet brown paper-like, old cheese, potato peel, hemp, hay. Clean fruitiness in the mouth, dried banana and green kiwi notes, grapefruity hoppiness apparent early on, medium carbo, supple mouthfeel. Bit grainy and lightly bready malt core, a bit on the thin side perhaps for the big wave of hop bitterness that is to come: a long, resiny, piney and grapefruity, expressive, tonic water-like bitterness, which nevertheless still manages to avoid overt harshness. Cheesy too, maybe due to age, but I can easily handle that in this particular subtype of IPA; bit unusual, but surely tasty enough not to shock my - since last year or so - rock-solid belief in the amazing capabilities of this hip Norwegian craft brewery.
3.8 330 ml. bottle split by 4 @ “Belgian Ticks Tasting Ghent”. Hazy orange, white head. Nose is too yeasty, older citrus, perfume citrus, grapefruit & tea oil. Taste is overly yeast, chamomile tea, grapefruit oil, perfume citrus,.. Bit too soft carbonation, tea & grapefruit oil,… Decent beer but below what I usually expect from Lervig.
3.5 Pours unclear amberblonde, very deep. Small ring of white foam. Smell is pine, hoppy, grassy. Taste is full, bitter, pine. Bit dry. Very straight forward, one dimentionnal beer.
3.5 330 ml bottle at home. Almost clear dark golden color with nice off white head. Malty and hoppy aroma, caramel, light bread, herbal, grass, light citrus. Sweet and bitter taste like aroma. Medium oily body with soft carbonation.
3.8 18-07-2017; bottle; at home (bought at Saveur Bière, as part of their July discovery box). The looks of the beer are fine. It looks like a good IPA. The beer has a lovely dark orange color. Quite nice. It has a lovely even cloudiness. On top of the beer some rough white foam is formed. The majority of the foam collapses rather quickly, leaving a nice drape. Not bad. The smell of the beer is very nice. It is a good IPA smell, that has some new world hop touches. There is a nice malty touch to the smell. Not to strong. There is a nice lovely strong hop touch. The hop aromas are quite divers. There are some nice touches of grapefruit, some zest, some touches of citrus fruits. Hop aromas are both bitter and slightly sour. Very nice. There is also a hoppy touch of pine and a resinous touch. Not that strong, but they just give that American hop aroma. The taste of the beer is nice, but slightly less than the smell. There are some stronger malts, with a slight biscuity tone. The hops are amazing again, with strong citrus, like grapefruit and some lemon, and also zest and a piny and resinous touch. Quite nice, but not entirely balanced. It lacks a tiny bit of balance...the malts are a bit to rough. The palate of the beer is fine. There is a nice medium body, slightly sticky texture and a nice medium low carbonation. The finish of the beer is nice. There is a nice hop flavour, together with some lovely malt touches. I like it.
3.9 12 ounce bottle from the Toft wine shop. Bright deep orange in color with big notes of citrus and tangerine. Nice.
3.4 Bottle at home from beer gonzo. A light hazed reddy amber coloured pour with a lasting loose beige head. Aroma is caramel, rye bread, toasted pine, orange rind. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, sticky caramel, toasted pine, rye, jammy pine hop. Little toffee in the finish. Palate is medium sweet, sticky, moderate carboantion. not bad.
3.4 330 ml bottle, bb 19.04.2018. Pours a hazy, light amber with a white head. The aroma is lightly malty (bread) and lightly hoppy - citric fruits, herbs. Medium body with a light to medium carbonation, a light sweetness in the beginning and a medium to heavy bitterness, which mellows a little bit and stays present in the finish. The flavor is hoppy with ripe citric fruits - oranges and lots of grapefruit, light herbal notes - along with ripe stone fruits and some malt (toasted bread, biscuit. 3.9 060717. Bottle from Bucket Boys. This is an IPA that is packed full of flavour and hoppiness. Citrus and tropical fruit come to the fore in this easy to drink beer that looks like sunset in a glass. Off white foamy head caps off the appearance..
