Les Trois Mousquetaires Porter Baltique

Les Trois Mousquetaires Porter Baltique

Gamme Grande Cuvée. Unlike typical porters, our Baltic Porter is brewed in the traditional style as a bottom-fermenting lager. The result is a luxuriously round, but robust, black beer with a mild bitterness. A special blend of roasted malts provides this porter with flavors and aromas of chocolate and coffee, and you’ll enjoy it’s subtle hints of cherry-smoked malt.

5.0 Attained at La Bodega from Riverside, California for $13.99, Porter Baltique is a dark lager beer brewed by Les Trois Mousquetaires. The smell of chocolate, espresso, vanilla, and smokey malt are felt upon the nose. The appearance is pitch black with a low beige head. When held up to light, no light shines through. The alcohol content is 10.0%. Chocolate is moderately rich and smooth to the drink. Vanilla glows upon the chocolate base. Espresso blends with the vanilla and accents the chocolate. Munich malt flavors and compliments the chocolate and espresso blend. Cherry-wood smoked malt is imbued upon the maltiness and coffee profile. Caramel is drawn out from the chocolate and Munich malt combination. Magnum, Perle, Centennial, and Cascade hops bring a fair bitterness to the complexion. The alcohol content burns the take and lingers into the finish. Perle and Centennial hops are discerned on the take. Magnum and Cascade are distinguished during the chocolate and caramel finish. Oat malt textures the chocolate and vanilla frame. Porter Baltique is a glamorous dark lager. Chocolate, Munich malt, espresso, vanilla, and caramel mix into an incredible porter sensation. The Perle hops and alcohol burn take is amazing to the chocolate body. The oatmeal, vanilla, and Munich malt glistens the mouthfeel. Cherry-wood smoked malt serves as a backdrop to the malty comprehension. I loved drinking this beer and impressed by its complexity. Porter Baltique is heaven in a glass. Cheers. Prost. 3.8 Fat @ Protokoll, Berlin.
4.2 On tap at Saccharomyces Beer Cafe on 14July 2019. This was leftover from Saccharomyces’ Canada Day festivities and I’m glad that I got try try it. Don’t see many beers from this brewery so I grab them when I can. Chocolate and vanilla aromas lead into a boozy chocolate flavour and a bitterness that cuts through the chocolate. Smooth and silky in the mouth.
4.0 Tap. Pours pitch black, opaque with a small tan head. Full nose with coffee, chocolate, and caramelized sugar. Quite fruity as well, notes of berries, plum and sherry. Taste is a great balance between a light sweetness, a good sourness and only a mild bitterness in the finish. The fruity sourness is dominating and takes some of the thick heavy body away. This is accompanied by medium carbonation and causes a smooth and creamy mouthfeel. However the alcohol is quite noticable and causes a nice warmth. In the mouth fruity notes kick in leading to a quite complex flavor. Despite the still present roasted notes of coffee and chocolate, berries, plum and sherry become dominant along with only a hint caramel. Leaves a medium sour and fruity aftertaste.
3.8 From bottle v2011 thanks to Alex! Dark brown to black color with beige head. Malty aroma, roasted, nutty, chocolate, milk chocolate, light licorice and coffee, soy sauce notes in the beginning. Sweet and bitter taste. Light almost oily body with soft carbonation.
3.5 East of Everything draft (25-Jun-19) Light roast malt aroma. Jet black, good brown head and sheet lacing. Sweet choc toffee rum flavour. Bitter herbal toffee choc finish and raisin roast malt aftertaste.
3.9 75 cl corked bottle. Served in a balloon glass at Las Buenas Pulgas. Black colour, small head with short retention, minimal lacing. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, red fruits licorice, some vanilla. Full body, creamy texture, flat carbonation. Taste of chocolate, red fruits, vanilla, coffee, licorice. Great.
3.1 Caramel malt chocolate caramel cherry aroma. Black colour no head or lacing. Malt cherry chocolate malt flavour. Think flat palate.
3.9 Creamy tan head stayed on a very dark brown still body. Malt, demerara, coffee & berry aroma. Medium to full bodied, slightly carbonated on the front with creamy smooth back. Dark berries, brown sugar, dark spirits, lactose, honey, syrup & chocolate tastes with a slightly spicy finish.
3.9 Aroma is complex and near heavenly.. bourbon, alcohol, leather, coffee. Tastes a bit sweet, a little boozy.. very complex, heavy, tasty.. very good. Epic beer. So smooth.
3.9 Another bottle from the great sale haul at Chans PCB. A little worried because the cork limped out of the bottle but it did give a tan bubbly ring. Big aroma of molasses and coffee. Great flavor that is lightly sweet but includes dark chocolate and coffee plus some smoke. Very nice.
4.4 Draft @ Brody's Taphouse The Hague. Colour is black with one finger tan head. Aroma: roasted espresso beans, chocolate, vanilla, raisins, plums, smoky peatiness, caramel. Taste: espresso, dark chocolate, vanilla, sultana, dates, forest fruit, umami, soy sauce, licorice, toffee, caramel sauce, some smoke, marshmallows. Full body with roasted bittersweet finish. Velvety mouthfeel. Awesome!
4.0 Draught at Outro Lado, Lisbon, Portugal. Black with cream head. There is a full on roasty character to this, bittering initially, smoky, woody. A fruity sweetness then comes through, again full on, this beer doesn't hang back at any stage. Plummy, port wine flavours dominate the finish. Cor blimey.
3.9 Almost black with thin head. Aroma has heavily roasted malts and coffee. Full bodied and rich. Nice balance of bitter and sweet.
3.8 Black pour with almost no head. Aroma of fine chocolate, light coffee, light wood and smoke, light alcohol. Medium bodied, chocolate flavor dominates with light coffee and smoke. Very drinkable, smooth, tasty.
3.8 W zapachu wyraźne aromaty czekolady, trochę kakao, ciemnych owoców, wyczuwalne dziwne lekko kwaskowe, aromaty. W smaku średnia pełnia, trochę słodyczy, wyraźne nuty czekolady, kakao, ciemnych owoców, delikatna nuta kwaskowa, goryczka w kierunku średniej.
3.7 Aroma is mostly drinking chocolate with a signs of molasses and hints of prune through the caramelly touches. Taste is semi sweet with a bunch of noble chocolate which thrills the palate with its gentleness, also some notes of caramel, molasses and roasty bites. Clearly smooth, unfuckwithable, but not ideal.
Aroma a chocolate negro, vainilla y regaliz.
4.2 Plenty of dark fruit, and some black malt, but way too much sweetness with nothing really balancing it. The booze was there too. Didn't work for me normally love this brewery.
4.7 (choco-cara-raisin, ~terre, µ-bourg, crémo-ronde, > musco-cara-cerise-prune, wow-yeast-hop-malt)
3.8 Zwart bier met licht bruin schuim. Geur: alcohol, licht zoet, wat gedroogd fruit, wat chocolade. Smaak: zoet, alcoholisch, karamel, gedroogd fruit, wat melasse. Matige koolzuurprikkel. Volmondig. Afdronk: zoet, alcoholisch.
4.3 Almost opaque black color with a small brownish head that diminishes quickly without lacing. Aroma of roasted malts, burnt malt, ash and black olives. Taste of caramel, licorice, light notes of cocoa and caffe latte with a final smoked touch. Dense body and smooth texture with strong alcohol presence. A beast of Baltic Porter, very strong and with intense flavors.
4.5 Got in a BIF from TheDoctor. 750 ml bottle into snifter, bottled on 7/31/2018. Pours opaque dark brown/black color with a 1 finger fairly dense and fluffy khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of huge milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, raisin, plum, cherry, fig, date, nuts, and toasted dark/brown bread; with light notes of molasses, licorice, wood smoke, leather, tobacco, char, herbal, grass, pepper, and roast/toasted earthiness. Amazing complexity and balance of dark/roast/bready/light smoked malt, and light earthy hop notes; with big strength. Taste of huge milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, raisin, plum, cherry, fig, date, nuts, and toasted dark/brown bread; with light notes of molasses, licorice, wood smoke, leather, tobacco, char, herbal, grass, pepper, and roast/toasted earthiness. Mild roast/char, and herbal/grassy/spicy hop bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, dark fruit, cherry, molasses, licorice, light smoke/char, leather, tobacco, herbal, grass, pepper, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Amazing complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready/light smoked malt, and light earthy hop flavors; with a nice roast/hop bitter/sweet balance; and no cloying/acrid flavors after the finish. Perfectly clean on lager flavors, with no yeasty notes. Slightly increasing dryness from lingering hop/roast bitterness. Light-medium carbonation and fairly full body; with a very smooth, creamy, silky, velvety, and rich mouthfeel that is amazing. Slight sticky hops, and chalky char/roast. Minimal warming alcohol for 10%. Overall this is an insane Baltic porter! All around amazing complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready/light smoked malt, and light earthy hop flavors; very smooth, clean, and dangerously easy to sip on for the big ABV. This is the smoothest and best Baltic porter I've ever had. Even better than the Brandy/Bourbon variation. Amazingly rich/fruity malt complexity; with restrained cherry smoked malt, and mild earthy hops against sweetness. A highly amazing offering, and world class style example.
3.9 Bottle from BeerShop.gr, enjoyed at Gunnarsbu. Pours black with a small creamy off-white head. Aroma of dark malts, light toasted with charry notes. Taste is light sweet dark caramel, smooth and creamy mouthfeel, dark dried fruits, leather and tobacco, well balanced brew
3.7 0,75l bottle brought by a friend from Canada, shared @ home in a tasting. Pours very dark brown with a low tan head. Aroma is sweet roasted malts with a hint of vegetables. Flavor is sweet roasted malts, chocolate, some coffee, hops. Good.
4.5 On tap @Brasserie 4:20 (Rome). Corpo pieno, carbonazione medio-leggera. Wow!
4.9 nice drink on this nice July day, after a hot very humid week, celebrating a promotion from work with this beer seemed the perfect timing. Above average beer.
3.4 Over the top for me. Plenty of dark fruit, and some black malt, but way too much sweetness with nothing really balancing it. The booze was there too. Didn't work for me normally love this brewery.
