Lexington Brewing Kentucky Ale

Lexington Brewing Kentucky Ale

The first brew produced by Alltech Lexington Brewing and Distilling Co, Kentucky Ale® is described as a marriage between two classic beer styles, Irish Red Ale and English Pale Ale. With a light amber color, Kentucky Ale owes its body and character to select imported malts and a pinch of wheat malt for a rich, smooth taste. This brew is placed into bourbon barrels to make the brewery’s flagship Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale®.

2.7 Bottle from Seijo Ishi store. Malty nose, toasted, fruity, brown sugar, and a few bread crumbs. Clear orange/amber color, fine head. Caramel initial, some cola flavor emerges, gets candyish in mid palate, and then a thin, flat finish. Medium body. Overly sweet, fairly one dimensional, but easy to drink.
2.6 Amber color , thin off-white head . Malt, butterscotch and some herbal notes in aroma. Mostly malty taste with some dirtiness . Drinkable.
1.5 Golden pour. Thin white head. Sweet smell and even sweeter taste. Kinda funky and off but Beijing can do that to beers.
2.7 Clear dark golden color with a fine tan head. Ok lacing. Toffee, caramel and a bit fruity aroma. Medium (+) body and a fine carbonation. Tad sweet and a moderate bitterness. Toffee, caramel and mild fruity flavor. Nothing special going on here. Nothing wrong either. [Bottle from a trade with Meilby]
2.7 12 oz bottle - pours clear amber golden color. Smell is red malts, golden wheat and run of the mill beer yeast. Taste is pretty much the same. Unimpressive
2.0 Thanks Danny for sharing this whale...ha. Skunked, malty, gross. Not for me, but interesting tick.
3.0 Bottle from Rojo, taste @ home. Clear lightamber color, with a light beige head. Aroma: caramle, malts, bit fruits. Medium body. Taste: sweet, caramel, full malts, fruits, very little hopsbitterness.
2.9 Clear copper with thin white head. Light malt and creamed corn aroma. Bland malt flavor with some earthy hop bitter to make it taste like an ale (vs malt soup), Hints of wet paper but not offensive enough to spit it out. Overall it tastes like a cheap beer.
2.3 12 oz. bottle. Pours a medium, well retained, ivory head, with some lacing, over a hazy particle laden amber (SRM 9) body......nose is light toffee/caramel, egg whites, light herbal hops....taste is slightly sweet with toffee/caramel notes, light cereal malts, finishing with a light hops bitterness.....mouth feel, light watery body, no alcohol, fizzy carbonation. This is a simple Amber, with fairly prominent unclean flaws. It could be a poor quality storage of the bottle results in a not very good beer, as opposed to the base recipe being off. BJCP 5/1/9/3/4
2.5 5/17/15. 12oz bottle from a random gas station in TN. Amber pour with a small khaki head. Mildly skunked aroma - doesn’t appear to be fully brown glass and who knows how long it sat at the gas station, I guess? Anyway, mild maltiness and a hint of skunk, reminds me of Beck’s Dark or something like that. Mild malty flavor, hints at caramel, mild skunk. Meh.
2.2 Bottle. Clear, orange, frothy, tan foam, medium bitterness, light sweetness, medium body, thin feel, soft carbonation, & bitter finish.
2.5 Pours copper with a foamy white head. Sweet malty aroma, some toffee. Earthy hop character. Quite mild in flavour. Mostly caramel and a little cocoa, floral hop bitterness at the back of the palate. Okay but nothing special
2.7 Bottle from Dublin Airport, slightly hazy with slim white head. Malty, fruity aroma. Taste is malty, cloying sweet, caramel. Medium body, moderate carbonation. Won’t be bothering again.
2.6 Nice amber/orange color; Medium slightly creamy body; Aroma of malt, some caramel, & musk?; Flavor of slight roasted sweet malt, caramel/toffee, hops, and light fruit; Just decent.
3.0 Amber pour withan off-white head. Aroma is caramel malt and toast. Taste is caramel malt, little sweetness. No lacing.
3.5 Pours clear copper with a one finger off white head with nice lacing. Aroma is of toasted malts, caramel, sweet malts, light floral hops, and light spicy hops. Has a medium-light body with a semi watery mouthfeel and a slighty bitter, medium finish. Overall, a decent amber ale.
2.7 Draft at the source. Clear amber color, medium tan head. Aroma of light caramel. Taste is similar. Plain.
2.9 On tap in a tulip ..... Clear, light amber with with a white head that dissipates quickly; although, there is some hang on the glass. There is not a lot of body to this beer, but it has a sweet flavor with a slight hop bite.
3.5 I had this at Global Brew. Pours a Amber gold with a off white head. Taste caramel, sweet, biscuit. I thought this was good. I would drink this again.
3.1 Bottle at Zips Brewhouse. Aroma malty, caramel, fruity. Clear golden to amber colour. Taste is rather sweet, caramel, fruity, light sourness which carries on into the finish. Plum. Overall good in what it is.
2.9 New Beer Distributors, NYC 12 ounce ($2): Pours amber with a small head. Aroma is light caramel malts. Taste is slightly sweet. Very light. No off-tastes. Slight spice. Slight hops. Not bad.
3.3 Bottle 33cl from Mondial de la bière, a clear copper head. Nose is on caramel, vanilla and oak notes. Aroma is on blond caramel, nice oak and leather touch, nice vanilla touch, very pleasant and smooth beer, subtle caramel and vanilla notes, body is medium. Finish is nice too, on the same aromas, very pleasant.
3.0 Medium amber color with frothy head. Aromas caramel, slight grass and toffee. Flavors toffee, slight caramel, light hay. Medium sweet. Drinks some thing like a light block.
3.0 Bottle at Craig’s. Pours golden amber, nose is floral, toffee, taste is the same.
3.0 Sampled at ESBLS. It poured a hazy amber color with an off-white head. The aroma was of straw and malt. The taste was sweet with notes of malt, caramel and straw, leading to a dry finish.
2.0 Drank on draft from the Local Spot in the Cincinnati Airport -- Not much to say honestly. Tasted like a Light American Lager. Nothing special at all. This beer didn’t even make me want me to order something better. Just apathy all around.
2.4 12oz bottle. Aroma is slightly skunky with some malt? Appearance is a light copper. Taste is very bland. A very drinkable beer, but there is just not much to it. Overall, a miller lite has more flavor, which is sad, cause I want to like this brewery.
3.7 Amber pour. Looks good. Bread dough and malt nose with a touch of sweet toffee. Well balanced. More malt and caramel but not too sweet. Nice finish.
