3.6 Bottle at zytholoog Smell is intence raspberrys Taste is raspberrys . Intence . Bit sugary . Quite good , but i supose it was better fresh
4.0 2004 bottle provided by Huhzubendah. Poured a nice raspberry red color with a pink head. Aroma is raspberries, sweetness. Flavor is sweet raspberries. This held up quite well. The finish is sweet raspberries, some light sugar.
Veldig god.
3.5 Bottle (1980s vintage?) at WoSF, shared by Werner et al. It pours deep hazy redddish-brown with a small beige head. The nose is tangy fruit, raspberry, strawberry, lightly acidic and sweet jam. The taste is tangy, sweet-sour aspect, caramel, wood, earth, ice-tea, brown sugar, candy, raisin and grape with a dry, tangy finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Smooth and pretty well balanced. It’s certainly held up well.
3.8 Keg @ cask corner, doncaster. Sour fruit beer. Very nice I loved it very much.
3.2 Red/brown colour, low carbonation. Aroma is sweet/sour. Fruity (raspberries) and sour hints. Refreshing but maybe a bit too sweet.
3.7 Bouteille 375ml.
3.3 Cellared cc bottle. Pours turbid dark brownish ruby with minimal off-tan head and not much lace. Nose is earthy raspberries, mild funk. Gets a bit funkier in the finish, but the semi-sweet raspberry flavor takes top billing.
3.8 Bottle shared by drabmuh. Thanks Matt! 2008 vintage The beer is a sunburst brown / orange color. The head is thin and wispy, leaving barely a trace of lacing on the glass. The aroma is initially rather subdued, with a slight mustiness and scents of berries. As the beer warms, the aroma grows in intensity. The flavor is very fruit forward, with a large dose of slightly sweet raspberries, followed by more subtle notes of funk and a mild tannic character. The finish is nice and brings some funkiness. This is an enjoyable fruit beer in the Flanders style. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 01-30-2011
2.7 Picked this bottle up in DC. Served in a Russian River "TION" goblet. Pours a muddy brown color with a low off-white head and not much lacing or anything like that. The nose brings a tad bit of raspberry and a bit of a tea-like character. Flavor brings a bit of tea and light raspberry. Quite odd and not very tasty, unfortunately. Not everything works together, and the base beer doesn’t quite work with the raspberry. Light body and some tea-like tannic character. Decent, but not something I would come back to.
3.8 Dunkle bräunliche Färbung, getrübt. Geruchlich intensiv himbeerig-kirschig. Gut gelungenes Himbeer-Fruchtbier. Weich und vollmundig.Test vom 1.4.2007, Gebinde: Glasflasche
3.9 red berries aroma, red, hazy, minimal head, medium sweetness, medium body, creamy, soft carbonation, very nice berries finish. Nice bear.
3.4 375ml corked and caged bottle poured into a palm tulip. Dated cage reads: LFR 06/2017 B7164 which leads me to believe that this is a 2007 vintage. A - When I popped the cork it didn’t seem too lively. A quick, but even pour yielded a white head that faded quickly. Some chunks flowed into the glass even though I stopped pouring with 2 or so ounces left. First off, this beer is pretty clear. Which lets the sediment and yeast float around and become quite visible. The body is a deep purple color with bits off white yeast that are really taking their time to settle back down. S - Raspberries and sugar. Its not fake and artificial, its just like very concentrated sweet, sweet raspberry syrup. No "funk" to speak of. T - Sweet natural raspberry syrup. There is this aftertaste, that almost seems savory. I can’t describe what it tastes like, but it makes the aftertaste slightly odd but still approachable. Very easy drinking, and the carbonation is quite nice. Slightly tart but certainly not sour. O - I’ve picked up a few older liefmans vintages because they are priced really well, and they succeed in what they are. This isn’t a lambic based traditional framboise, its an oude bruin brewed with raspberry juice. This particular vintage might be a bit past its prime, but its still refreshing and a decent fruit beer.
3.5 Not at all what I was expecting. I was expecting something brash and sweet and was intrigued by something brown and sour but eminently drinkable (if you don’t mind sipping beer rather than stonking great quaffs). Tart, sour and just overtly raspberry. Quite wonderful. Why on earth was it retired?
2.9 Very very nice dark brown/red color, with a deep dark red glare coming through. Like the fruitesse framboise, that’s the good part. It’s not very different from that one. Again I don’t like the smell and taste, and it’s too low carbonated.
3.7 First time i tasted this: did not like it one bit. It reminded me of wine. This was during the winter season. After that i tasted it again in summer and now i still drink this every once in a while (local pub has a few bottles left). Love the sourish taste but it also has some sweet notes.. Tastes natural, not syruppy.
3.9 Again, this is another one of those brews that just completely hits the spot for me. It’s not over the top, it’s right where it should be. Slight sour, slight fruit, slight Flemish brown, I would drink this over and over and over if it were cheaper.
3.4 Bottle. Brown’7red with small tan head. Flavour is malt, fruit, raspberries, little sour, little acid and dry.
3.5 2005 bottle... Bright pink body, nice pink head... Nose is sweet raspberries, a bit candyish, reminds me of a St. Louis fruit beer... Taste is just like the nose, sweet candy not overly sweet, crushable
Danke an Kristall-König 9/10/11/10/13/10
3.6 Magnum, curtesy of Ian, from 2000. Pours a reddish brown, not much head, raspberry, sugar and sour/vinegar aroma. Tastes quite good - sweetness completely mellowed, tartness from the vinegar, full-bodied on the palate but somewhat thin on the finish. Can’t say what I was really expecting but this definitely improved with age...now just need to find some bottles and let them sit for a decade :)
3.8 375 ml bottle from De Bierloods a dark red brown colored beer with a white head aroma raspberry caramel and some sourness flavor raspberry fruits some wood caramel and a fresh sourness finish
3.3 Bottle(2007) courtesy of yngwie.Pours deep red with an off-white head.Aroma of raspberries, jam, candy and malt.Flavor is sweet and sour with lots of raspberries.Medium body, tart finish , average carbonation.Nice raspberry beer.
3.3 Bottle. Pours clear reddish light brown colored with a small lacing head. Aromas of raspberries, sugar and something sour. Weak and watery flavor with notes of fruit.. Easy drinkable - even after all these years. Exp. December 2001.
3.0 27th December 2005 Early amateur rating warning! Easy drinking raspberry beer, not too sharp.
3.3 Bottled. A deep red beer with only a rim of off-white head - quite flat when opened. The aroma has strong notes of raspberries as well as medium notes of almonds. The flavor is somewhat sweet with a light acidic edge on which is quite strong notes of raspberries as well as lighter notes of wood and almonds, leading to a dry, woody, and slightly tart finish. The body is light.
3.9 37.5 cl bottle shared with BigMomma. Dark reddish brown, small off white head. Giant yeast-berg floaters everywhere. Aroma is dirty, earthy, dusty, and fruity. Taste has a citrus start, a fruit middle and a sweet n sour finish. Nice character and complexity. Forgive the chunks.
