3.4 Bottle from ØlKonsortiet, Aalborg. Thin beige head. Hazed, copper colored body with lots of tiny yeast sediments floating around. Aroma is rounded and vinous. Both soft fruity and sweet caramelly. Smooth and soft in the mouth, almost mellow. Taste is cream-caramel and sappy fruits. Light-bodied. Fruity, vinous and fairly dry ending. Obviously oxidized, still a highly drinkable and exciting one.
3.2 Bottle shared by OleR. Thanks! Pours a dark yellow/orange with tons of floaties and a small off white head. Smells a bit like a barley wine. Loads of caramel and butterscotch. Definitely oxidized. The same returns in the flavour profile, along with fruity notes. It’s got an odd, sort of harsh finish. I was expecting a bit more heft to this, perhaps because the aroma reminded me of aged barley wines. This was rather light bodied, low carbonation. A bit too mellow. Has probably past it’s peak. Not bad at all though.
3.1 Originally rated December 2005. Bought this one at the Dépanneur de la Rive in Cap-Rouge, Quebec. Got the Jan van Gent glass for free. The numbers written on the cork are 2.004 and the ones on the metal top are Jan2007. Pours a hazy caramel colour with a fizzy head that dissipates quickly enough. A nice coating is left on the brew though. The nose is fruity with plum, raisin, apples and also some bread and caramel. The mouthfeel is a mix between watery and tarty. Kind of dull actually. The taste is almost rusty with some of that fruit mentioned. Not much aftertaste. My first dissapointing Liefmans brew, but still worth trying... and light for a Belgian brew.
3.0 You can taste some of the spices used. Fairly drinkable. An unusual beer. Some Wit beer like qualities show up. Serving: Bottle
2.8 Pours a nice Medium golden yellow color. Minimal fizzy white head, lasted maybe a minute or two. Aromas of light spices, a touch of brown sugar
2.2 Bottle: Smells a bit like olives. Taste is very light, it’s a bit hoppy and spicy. Some typical aromas like fruits, hops and malts. It’s easy drinkable, but not really special, kind of watery.
2.5 A strange brew--probably past its sell by date. A bit of faint sourness and a bit of cidery flavor, some floaters as well. Not much sweetness, quite watery in terms of body. I have a JvG glass so felt compelled to try, but don’t see this in my future.
3.4 375 ml bottle. Dark golden body with floaters (just passed the best before date.) and a diminishing off-white head. Aroma of matured apples, a hint of Madeira and a bit acidic like from wild fermentation. Flavor is sweetish malt, ripe fruit, a touch of burnt sugar and light acidity. Relatively light, very balanced, both refreshing fruity and matured. Quite original behind the refreshing first impression.
2.6 Backlogging: Hazy orange with a dense head. Spicy and very yeasty with some acidic and citric notes too. The yeast is too dominating though.
3.6 375 ml bottle. Amber colour.Clear. Small off-white head that clings to the glass. Nice mellow malty aroma with quite a bit of caramel. Light bodied. Beer feels surprisingly light. Great fruity character. Subtle in all respects. Balance is excellent. This one would work really well with food. Not my favorite Liefmans beer, but still this is something of its own. A great beer, but perhaps a little too light?
2.9 bottle, pours dark orange, big white fluffy head. Lots of carbonation. Nice fruity aroma. Light sweet taste. Rating no 15 090209
3.4 amber coloured body with lot of yeast particels and a white head a malty spicy herby aroma a malty sweet herby spicy taste with a herby malty bitter finish
3.4 Darker amberish coloured beer with small white head and lots of carbonation visible Herby malty sweet and spiced aroma. Full sparkling palate. Finish is bitter yeasty and malty bit roasted too.
3.1 38cl, recently retired brew, from De Bierloods Adegem, not complex brew, yet easy to drink, balanced, hazy, good head, nice brew
2.9 Bottle 37,5cl @ home. Clear medium orange amber color with a average, frothy, good lacing, fully lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, toasted, moderate yeasty, earth, toffee - fudge, brown sugar. Flavor is moderate sweet with a average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily - syrupy, carbonation is soft. 3.1 ambrata schiuma media piuttosto persistente note di lievito malto leggera tostatura in bocca piuttosto bilanciata non molto luppolata leggero ferroso
2.6 Pleasant taste, and fresh palate, but unfortunately also withoot any aftertaste at all - quite boring frankly.
3.6 Had this on tap @ in de Wildeman a couple of times. Pale orange/amber colour, white disappearing head. Aroma of yeast, nuts, caramel, some fruit. Taste is very soft, nutty, yeast, a little toffee and some spice. This beer appears very bland at first, but after a few sips all its subtle flavours emerge. Very nice brew.
2.5 Weak head to almost no cover, mild carbonation, ale is misty and sediment orange colour.Aroma caramel, malt.Flavour malty fruit taste(bitter)caramel, lemon and orange, sour to tart flavour.Spicey finish and sour, not for me.
3.3 375ml bottle at Bier Cafe Het Elfde Gebod in Amsterdam. Murky pale amber color. Mild, plain nose of white bread and faint brett. Flavor is also very plain and underdeveloped, like a stale, empty, dry Orval. Some light fruit and stale, flavorless paper as well, and just a slight touch of funked apricots and coconut (like trail mix, nutty).
3.3 Bottle, corked and caged, from Beer Planet in Brussels - good selections there. 37 cl. bottle cost 3.5 EURO. Clear copper color with a good, fine bubbled, beige/tan head. Aroma of mixed cooked fruits. Flavor is tinned tropical fruits alternating with lightly roasted caramel. Mild spice. Drinks very well. There’s enough bitter to balance the malt. Good drink.
2.7 Bottle @ Lowlander, Drury Lane. Pours hazy orange with minimal white head. Aroma is tropical fruits, faint spicyness, hops. Taste is malty, again fruity and slighty sweet but nothing more.
2.7 Bottled. Good, balanced but weak aroma. Red-yellow, small white head. Taste loong, complex. Exotic fruits, hops, good finish. Just a little bit too boring and weak for me.
3.4 375ml bottle (BelgianShop) Rich orange to brown, tiny head. Sweet fruity aroma, amber sweet malts, a little plasticky in places, and some strawberries. Creamy and malty taste - mellow oak and walnut. Subtle earthy hops. Very mellow, nutty, and well balanced. Rerate: 7-3-7-4-13=3.4 Flat as a pancake, lots of floaties. Certainly quite delicious, lightly nutty and woody. Let down by lack of any carbonation.
2.9 Hazy orange with floaters, and a lasting white head. Malty aroma, somewhat earthy, somewhat fruity (orange). Semi sweet flavour fruity and malty.
3.1 Date: 04/03/2008 Mode: Bottle Source: Ale Atlanta Appearance: cloudy light orange, wispy off white head, Aroma: sweet fruity estery aroma with a light spicyness, Flavor: sweet malt flavor, nice fruity esters, earthyness comes in with some spicyness to dry it out a bit, Aroma: 6/10; Appearance: 7/10; Flavor: 6/10; Palate: 6/10; Overall: 12/20 Rating: 3.1/5.0 Drinkability: 7/10 Score: **/4
2.4 Botlle 33 cl. Pours a hazy golden with a small and disappearing white head in my glass and a big white head that rises out of the bottle. The aroma is a mixture of gueuze-like scents, like hay and barnyard, some mild caramel and brown sugar and some sourness. I drank this a little bit too cold thinking this was a gueuze, so maybe I didn’t enjoy the flavor like I could have enjoyed it a bit warmer. The flavor starts out as a watered down Belgian Strong Ale with notes of caramel, raisin and brown sugar and after that gets a bit sour and more gueuze like. Did they brew this with wild yeasts? I didn’t really like this one
2.8 Cloudy amber with huge white head. Sweet fruity aroma with grainy and caramel notes. Sweet malty flavor with notes of caramel,
