2.3Bottle - Pours a clear yellow with fairly large, creamy head. Sweet biscuity aroma. Taste starts ok then goes to chemical astringent. Shame.
3.0"not nearly up to par with the stout, but i wasn’t expecting it to be. pleasant semi-sweet fruity aroma. taste is similar, with light grassy hops. full bodied, especially given the fizzy cloudy yellow look. fruit and a bit of alcohol in the finish."
2.412 oz. can I think I grabbed this at Dutch’s (from notes). Pours a very pale yellow color with a medium sized quickly fading fizzy white head. The aroma and flavor have pilsner and pale malts, some sweetness, straw, grainy notes, apple. Light bodied, boring, general pale lager/pils.
3.5Bottle. Cream. herbal lemon, and barley malt aroma. Golden yellow with small head. Sweet lemon, milky caramel malt and mildly bitter herbal and alcohol flavor. Not bad.
3.7Bottle: (labeled as 8.8 %)
Pours nearly clear, pale gold with a creamy white head.
Slightly sour white grape, grain malt aroma.
Lemon, honey, pils taste.....very sweet..
This is really VERY good...seriously.......
I hope this is the right rate, the Lion Strong clocks in at 8.8, but the labeling indicates this one...both are SPL/IP’s...well, it was a great little beer, I’ll take an admin slap for it if I’m wrong!
2.3Rated on 1-17-2011 (Bottle) This beer’s appearance is a small white head that mostly diminishes, transparent yellow golden tint, fizzy carbonation, and a fair amount of lacing. The aroma is malty, grainy, corn, floral, sweet, fruity, spicy, and alcohol. The taste is sweet, crisp, malt, floral hops, corn, grainy, some alcohol, and a bit harsh. The mouth feel is lively and this beer is medium bodied. I did not like the harshness with the flavor of this beer and it made it difficult for me to drink this beer let alone enjoy it.
3.3At Hops and Props Beer Fest. Not sure why no one likes this. The aroma is caramel sweet, cereal grain, grassy. The flavor follows. The finish is spicy noble hops. Good overall.
0.7Oh my god, this is one of the all time worst beers! I poured it a bit too cold which should have benefitted this, but its quality shown thru. The beer reeked of sweet solvents. One taste and I almost retched; had to dump it and wash my mouth out. If you want somebody to leave your party, give them this beer.
2.1Light caramel, grain, apples and lemongrass. A musky aftertaste detracts from this one. Alcohol is well masked. More flavorful than your typical lager, but not as crisp.
2.912oz bottle, light golden orange in appearance. Scent of sour grains. Taste is sour apple, yeast and grain, a bit sweet. Alcohol pretty noticeable as well.
2.3Bottle courtesy of Ken1. Hazy golden with a white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, sour fruit, yeasty and a little alcohol. Flavor is quite sweet and light bitter. Sweet finish with notes of alcohol. 160813
2.7A sweet fruity aroma, and a sweet fruity flavor with a creamy warm alcoholic mouthfeel. Color is amber with a white head.
2.612 oz. can shared by DrSilverworm- thanks, Chris! Looks almost like champagne on the pour, a very pale yellow with big bubbles and a quick fizzy white head. Notes of pils and pale malts, sugar, straw, grape, and apple. Light-bodied, with medium carbonation and a crisp mouthfeel. Meh.
2.3Can shared at b3shine’s. Pours a darker gold with a thick white head of foam that dissipates quickly. Smells like skunk piss and white cake. Tastes better than it smells and is pretty sweet. This is alright, but I’ll pass in the future.
2.9My bottle is labeled differently. There is a bigger lion head at the top and the label reads Lion Imperial Premium Malt Pilsner. The alcohol content is listed at 8.8%, not 8.0. This is a decent pilsner. It has a thin mouth with a smooth sweet malty flavor that is easy to swallow. The alcohol is undetectable. I am going to enjoy another one right now. Try one.
1.2Sweet smell like caramel faintly. Alcohol feeling conspicuous. There is no lingering and pleasant fragrance. I seem to just soda water.
2.8Easy to drink. Golden pour with slight haze and white head. Aroma is primarily malt. Taste is creamy sweet malt. Has a slight citrus or astringent finish. Don’t really notice the high alcohol content. Good buzz delivery method.
1.9330 ml can. 8.8%. 115410559. BB Nov 2012. From Malaysia. Thanks Mark!
Cloudy golden colour with a tiny white head.
The aroma is malt, buttery sweetness and mild citrus. The flavour is malty. And sweet. And it’s surprisingly smooth. Don’t wanna drink much more but it’s not as bad as I expected. Rather drinkable malt liquor.
2.6Aroma is perfumed and slightly astringent malts. The flavor is grain sweetness, mild earthiness and a slightly tart/alcoholic finish.
1.7Bottle. Slightly hazy gold pour with a small white head. Lots of sweet corn in this, and a bit medicinal and boozy. Not a fan.
2.5Pours a slightly hazy orange yellow. Foamy white head. Aroma is malt and citrus. Taste is overly sweet without much of a bitter offset. Too sweet to try again.
1.8bottle. golden with small head. boozy with corn. sweet and medicinal. very overdone.
2.511.2oz bottle - pours misty yellow with quickly diminishing white head and modest lacing. Nose is boiling pasta with corn. Flavor adds floral hops and malt liquor. Alcohol burn. Light to moderate sweetness. Almost certain this beer gets the job done for real cheap. Chicken feed aftertaste (cracked dry corn). That is all.
3.1This beer really cannot compare to its darker cousin, the Lion Stout. Whereas the latter is world class, this one blends into mediocrity. Surprisingly alcoholic, and more of that alcohol flavor should’ve been disguised. Bready malts, some caramel, with a medium body.
2.911.2oz Bottle. The pour was a clear golden yellow with an average (1-2 finger) white fizzy head that was mostly diminishing with poor spotty lacing.
The aroma was lightly sweet with a light grain malt, floral and grassy hops and a sweaty yeast and had notes of caramel, honey, a slight fruity ester (apple I believe) and a mild medicinal scent.
The taste was lightly sweet and very malty with light hints of caramel and honey from the start, and then had a mild taste of hops slowly work in to the mix with the finish having a mild fruity alcohol presence towards the end. The flavor hung on for an average time proceeding the swallow, with a slight alcohol sweetness and a more pronounced hoppy grain flavor that was left to linger on the taste buds.
Mouthfeel was a bit beyond light in body with a light syrupy texture and a medium carbonation.
Overall this was a somewhat sweet fruity brew that had a good hop and grain taste along with a bold alcohol presence. Basically this was a tasty Pilsner with a kick...
1.1Very cidery. It wasn’t horrible but was close. Very strong so it has that going for it if you want strong beer. Thin, no body, hard cider notes. No thanks.
1.4lion, grrrrrrrrrr. smells like a lion from behind. it bursts with crispy malt and flowery hops
1.4Tastes like a cheap lager, which is basically what it is. It’s got a lot of the skunkiness that export lagers have. Meh.
2.3So much alcohol, such an odd taste. Clear gold with a nice rim head and a thick stripe of lace. The taste begins with malt which gives way to a lightly spiced caramel that continues through the finish. It is heavy, it is filling, it isn’t appealing, so it doesn’t work for me. Not recommended.
1.3Okay aroma, little too floral. Great look, transparent gold body, white head that leaves a good lace. Tastes awful, cloyingly sweet and tastes like perfume. Actually starts fine, but just piles on in the back and leaves a strong aftertaste. Feels okay, but a little thin. AVOID.
