Little Creatures Pilsner / Original Pils

Little Creatures Pilsner / Original Pils

Since the giant wooden doors opened for the first time at Little Creatures Brewery’s Fremantle base, the popular pilsner has been on the bar alongside the nationally released Pale Ale and Rogers’ Beer.

We like the idea of lager styles being crisp, clean and elegant as opposed to overly "meaty", malty or sharp. This is a refreshing pilsner based on the classically structured European examples that use the finest Saaz hops and a patient fermentation regime.

3.2 Keg - Opera Bar, Sydney. Quite liked this. Clear, effervescent yellow with a small but lasting white head leaving a fairly uniform lace. Aromas of citrus, grass, citrus pith and peel, and biscuity pale malts. Light to medium body, medium to full carbonation and a moderate intensity grassy, pithy hop bitterness to finish. Nice.
3.1 Bottle. Pale golden color, white head. Aroma resembling california common rather then pilsner. Drinkable though.
2.5 Golden, soapy head and aroma of grass and bread, with that usual pungent lager smell. Taste of a... pilsener. Malty and grassy, this type of hops don’t add much to flavour. Expected much better.
2.8 Weak aroma of grass. Taste subtle grass and some mild citrus notes. Slightly bitter finish. It’s okay.
1.6 Tap. Clear, golden, frothy, white foam, lightly bitter, light sweetness, medium body, oily feel, soft carbonation, & abrupt finish.
3.1 Goldgelb kaum schaum, Geruch leicht kräuterig Geschmack recht frisch leicht Kräuter Getreide, nicht schlecht
3.3 Vom Fass. Hellgelbe Farbe, kein Schaum. Kräuter in der Nase. Kräftige Kräuter und Gras im Geschmack. Lecker!
2.8 aroma nothing to speak of, a relatively thin bodied pale lager with an accompanying (and redeeming) bitterness, which is pretty much what I have found Pilseners to be in my limited experience. So a good choice if you are drinking are lager but overpriced like other Little Creatures products. This sixer was half price.
2.9 330ml bottle into schooner glass. Faint hop nose. Solid white head on top of a very pale yellow beer. Possibly one of the palest beers I’ve ever seen. Lightly carbonated with a flat mouthfeel. Very easy drinking. Finish is a little grainy, crisp and abrupt. Good quencher for hot afternoons.
3.3 Spicy grass aroma in a straw yellow pour. Nice local example of the style that is crisp and clean (rather than fruity - as some antipodean versions are).
3.0 Clear pale yellow, medium short-lasting white head. Grains, herbs, grass, trace of pepper on the nose. Clean crisp light-medium bodied palate. Sweet malts at first then a light-medium grassy hop finish. Decent pils. (330ml bottle, BB 12/3/16).
2.3 .33l bottle @ Hanniku’s Cave. Pours pale yellow with low head. Aroma is malts, lemon grass, hay and some honey. Flavor is mostly same, with some metal notes. Easy to drink but a bit too sweet pilsner.
2.2 Pours clear gold. Grassy taste, very subtle, with some floral and fruit tones. A nice amount of slow bitterness. Overall not very memorable, but pleasant to drink nonetheless.
1.7 330 ml bottle. BB 29/Nov/15. (K~Citymarket) Birkala, Finland. Clear golden color with a small white head. Dry malty and metallic aroma. The flavor is dry malt and some dry hops. Boring.
1.8 When I think of Pilsner I think of Pilsner Urquell and that crisp finish. This aint no Pilsner Urquell. Very ordinary.
3.5 poured from stubby / Ar: grassy aroma and a little earthy / Ap: Pale, clear with decent white head which fades away / T: slightly sweet and slightly bitter / P: Light body and thin. Reasonably lively with a nice bitter finish / O: Very drinkable, very nice on a warm afternoon. Good beer
3.6 Clear golden with a white head. Aroma is clean and crisp, lightly grassy, noble hops. Fresh, dean palate. Flavor is mostly of the saaz hops, with light grain and a bit of grass. Very much in the classic pils style. Clean and crisp and the makings of a great summer refresher.
4.0 Nice fruity aroma. Clear golden colour with ok head. Plain honey flavour with slight fruit hints. Nice smooth finish. Light body with low carbonation.
2.7 very pale yellow colour with a brief frothy head, citrus/fruity aroma, crisp & slightly hoppy, flavours are pretty mild but still a good session beer
3.3 OK, bit cold @ Maceys 11/07/14. Jacks 88th.bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb
3.1 From a bottle. Pours a clear pale a yellow, tiny lasting head and crisp clean flavours. I could drink a few of them.
2.0 Poured yellow with a small white head. Aroma soft, sweet lemon citrus and light yeast. Flavours are lightly grainy with slight sweetness mixed with bitterness that moves to bitter-sourness through the finish. Palate watery but refreshing, moderately long finish, tight carbonation. Overall, inoffensive.
2.7 I’ll preface this by saying that I am not typically a fan of pilsner. However this one seems much more drinkable than most. There is a little floral and citrus aroma and finish, which indicates the use of fresh hops to finish. It pours a straw-coloured yellow. Moderate carbonation. Far superior to most pilsners
2.7 Looks straw coloured and has that in aroma, too. Has a bit of floral as well. Very crisp. Bit of citrus and a light finish. A so-so drop.
3.4 Bottle. Orange with a small head.Slightly citrus but no real distinctive flavours. Run of the mill and a bit disappointing.
2.6 Bottle 0,33l. Pours a straw yellow colour. Aroma of malts. Taste has light bitterness with a crisp finish.
2.3 330 mil bottle no real aroma straw colour typical pilsner taste not my favoured style ok
3.4 Draught "pony" size at Little Creatures Dining Hall, Melbourne. On July 26, 2013. As "Original Pilsner". Clear straw yellow color, white head. Malty, herbal, hoppy taste. Herbal, bitter aftertaste. Medium mouthfeel, medium bitterness. Sweet, malty scent.
2.7 Bottle at Beervana. Very palevyellow color, large white head. Aroma of white pepper and straw. Taste is lager-like with white pepper.
2.6 Light gold pour. Small white head. Faint, grassy, hoppy nose. Clean light malt and grassy on the tongue. Moderate bitterness.
