3.3Bottiglia.
3.5Clear dark brown color, small to medium sized tan head. Aroma of caramel and malt, not so roasty. Pretty tasty, sweet and bitter roasty feel, even a little bit of bacon. Thin body, bit creamy, soft carbonation. Nice lager. //bottle bought at Brezice beer festival
2.4Pours a dark brown color, red undertone, topped with a medium but non-lasting beige head. Mild caramel nose with some grassy notes in the back. Some chocolate tones as well. Taste is sweet, and very grassy. Too metallic. Mild bitterness. Very watery. Meh.
2.5Meh. Dark brown pour with a thin beige head. Fruity sweet flavour with some syrupy chocolate flavours.
2.9Bottle from the Dram Shop in Sheffield. Pours mahogany with a thin cream head. Virtually aromaless. The taste starts with light spice before red fruit and a little chocolate. A bit thin. OK.
3.0A decent dunkel/tmavy. Pours a dark, chocolately brown with a thin beige head. The nose is light; mild roasted notes, cocoa, coffee bean, light vanilla. Light body, easy finish with a mild roasty note. Very mild beer. No bitterness.
2.7Dark brown color with a reddish tone, frothy tan head that keeps a nice lace. Aroma is roasted malt and some caramel. Flavor is quite sweet. Medium carbonation and light to medium body with a sweet finish.
3.6Brown beer with a nice head. Aroma is coffee, chocolate, roasted malts and light alcohol. Flavor has a lot of chocolate, roasted malts, is pretty sweet and a bit vineous. It all ends in only a light bitterness. Medium thickless, but nicely soft.
Similar to a schwartzbier!
2.7Aroma and taste - mildly roasted malt with some caramel notes. Ordinary dunkel
3.2Dark brown body with a decent tan head. Nutty ,coffee and caramel. Average carbo. Well balanced and quite drinkable .One of the best quality /price ratio beers that I’ve drunk in Germany and my best Dunkel/Tmavý so far.
3.4Dunkles braunrot mit wenig Schaum. Sehr malzig, etwas Schokolade, Karamell, im Abgang eine dezente hopfenbittere, süffig.
3.0Tan head, dark brown body. Aroma is nutty. Taste of candy sugar and nuts creating a sweet and earthy taste
3.8Great Dunkel. Nice dark color. Great bready aroma and a very balanced taste.
2.2I am not sure if this is the correct beer, but here in Canada I found a beer "Baron - Bohemian Czech Dark Lager". No brewery on the label tho... 5.2% abv. Label looks similar but no upper label with the face. Typo is almost the same, so I guess that’s the North American import "version".
ENG: 500ml bottle from Liquor Mart in Winnipeg. Poured into the tulip. Dark brown - reddish clear color with thick tan head and some lacing. Aromas of yeast and roasted malts plus hints of caramel. Taste is quite a bit watery, but dark, roasted. It’s very low bodied though. Medium carbonation. Overall it’s just a bit nicer lager.
PL: Nie jestem pewien czy opisuję właściwe piwo, gdyż to które mam ma w nazwie "Baron - Bohemian Czech Dark Lager". Nie ma nigdzie podanej nazwy browaru. 5.2% alk. Etykieta posiada pewne podobieństwa, lecz np. brak górnej etykietki z postacią. Czcionka prawie identyczna. Podejrzewam, że to po prostu wersja eksportowa.
Butelka 500ml kupiona w Liquor Mart w Winnipeg. Przelana do kieliszka. Ciemno-brązowo - czerwonawa, klarowna barwa, gęsta jasna piana i nieco lejsingu. Aromaty drożdżowe, palony słód i nuty karmelu. W smaku dość wodniste, jednak ciemne, palone. Mimo to dość niskie odczucie w ustach. Średnio nasycone. Podsumowując jest to nieco ciekawszy lager.
3.150 cl bottle, Calgary, AB, Canada via Coop. Brown-amber, minimal head. Metallic aroma, some faint herbal hobs. Mild flavour, sweet, then a chalky finish.
3.2Aroma: chocolate, caramel, smoke; Appearance: pale dark brown, small frothy head; Taste: medium sweetness, slight bitterness, slight sourness; Palate: medium body, slick texture, abrupt finish, fizzy carbonation
Decent Bohemian Schwarzbier, very drinkable. Gets drier with time.
3.7A good black lager. Thin body with mild carbonation. Pours a very dark reddish brown with a short lived head. Slightly bitter with a malty backbone
2.4CLear brown colour, no head to speak of. Aroma of caramel, red fruits, bit dirty drain. Sweet flavour, malts, unfermented wort. Sweet finish. Not my kind of beer, I’m affraid.
(from 50cL bottle @ a weekly tasting, Oirschot. Thanks for sharing, DutchDrebus!)
4.2Beautiful dark brown Czech beer, somewhat similar to a schwarzbeer. Caramel sweetness, malty goodness, a bit of chocolate and milky coffee. Head dissipates too quickly and perhaps could have a little more body but this is lovely.
3.5Bottle from Cotteridge Wines; deep chestnut brown pour with a thin creamy beige head, burnt fruitcake aroma, taste has caramel, bread, malt loaf, dark dried fruits, dunktastic.
3.4500ml bottle from Premium Czech Beers online. Pours clear red-tinged brown, thin long-lasting beige head. Aromas of light metal, herbal hops, dark caramel. Taste brings some coffee. Clean finish. Nice.
3.0Dark brown color with medium beige head. Aroma of milk chocolate and roasted malt. Fruity taste together with milk chocolate, roasted malt coffee. Light hops in finish.
3.0500ml bottle. Pours very dark brown with a small head. Aroma is caramel, raisin and coffee. Taste has caramel throughout with raisin on the finish and a little coffee on the finish.
3.4Bottle 50cl. Clear dark red brown color, good frothy tan head, good retention and lacing; aroma sweet malt, bread, fruit syrup, slightly roasted, butterscotch; taste light sweet, slightly bitter, bit toasted, milky way notes; medium body, oily texture; lightly toasted mild bitter finish. Nice dunkel.
3.6A malty, bready beer with a distinct Eastern European dark rye note, fresh and warming. Hops in the background, but relatively subdued. In the glass, the beer is a dark mahogany, like a well-aged whisky. Overall, this is a well-balanced, quaffable beer. The taste does a good job of following the aroma; being medium-bodied and sweet, but well-tempered by a hops presence that prevents it from becoming cloying or syrupy. Overall, I’d call it a fairly high-quality dark lager, a style that is not all that common any more these days. It is well-made, and inexpensive.
3.2Strong roasted malt flavours with long-lasting and slightly dry hop after taste. Decent body, if a bit light. A relatively flavourful and refreshing interpretation of the style.
3.250cl Bottle from house of goods, Gouda.
Thick creamy off white head. Clear deep burgundy pour. Nice drinkable beer. Good for the ABV
2.850cl Bottle from houseofbeer.nl. Clear dark brown colour, off-white head. Aroma of butterscotch, caramel, berries, hint of watery coffee, iron. Flavour is light-sweet, some Haagse Hopjes, light fruity, hint of coffee, light bitterness. Light-bodied, watery. OK, but not great.
3.4500 ml bottle at home. Poured into a lager glass. ABV 4.7%
Brown coloured with a good sized tan head, thick and creamy, with good retention, leaving heavy lacing around the glass.
Aroma of chocolate, toffee, caramel.
Nice taste, toasted malts, chocolate, light coffee and mocha, a bit of metal, light caramel, fruity notes on the finish. Mildly bitter aftertaste.
Medium thin body, carbonation on the lower side.
Overall pretty good.
