2.9 Clear dark caramel color with an off white head. Some lacing. Ok intensity in the aroma. Medium body and an average carbonation level. A bit sweet and a moderate bitterness. Caramel malty, toffee and some roast in the flavor. Not my style. Nothing wrong with it, just dull. [On tap at Löwenbräu am Gendarmenmarkt in Berlin, Germany]
3.3 God, men noget ordinær dunkeløl, Savner kidt fyk´lde, men dejlig frisk, Ikke meget aroma
3.2 Pours dark red-brown with beige head. Quite intense malty flavors accompanied by a gentle bitterness giving it a nice, full-bodied taste while being easy enough to drink. Good.
3.2 50cl bottle. A clear chestnut brown beer with a huge most good lasting beige head. Aroma of mild caramelish malt, reddish malt, some chocolate. Taste of mild roasted malt, caramel, red malt, some red fruits, some chocolate, okay!
3.1 Fass 0,5l @ "Wirtshaus im Fraunhofer", München: Kastanienbraun, kräftige Trübung, kräftiger stabiler feinporiger Schaum; fruchtige + würzige Nase, kräftige Röstaromen, Röstmalz, Getreide, dunkles Karamell; fruchtiger + würziger Körper, Röstmalz, dunkles Karamell, cremig, kräftige Kohlensäure, dunkle Fruchtigkeit, leichte fruchtige Säure; angenehmer fruchtig-würziger Nachgang
1.8 Vom Fass im Schinken-Peter Giesing. Dunkelbraunes Bier, kaum Schaum. Malzgeruch. Irgendwie metallisch und Kaffe. Abtrunk Röstmalz. Unausgewogen. Herb, wässerig und metallisch. Gefällt mir nicht.
3.3 (From the keg) Mahogany brown beer, with vigorous fine carbonation, and a dense off-white head. The aroma mild, with sweet malt, toffee, caramel, and juicy sultanas, then roasted nuts and earth towards the end. The lively effervescence keeps the beer light and smooth on the palate. This beer typifies the German Dunkel: it retains the crisp profile of pilsner, whilst imbued with hints of rich toffee malt. Slightly bittersweet, and pleasantly clean, this is a fine example of the style. P.S. no offence to the Germans, but this tastes so much better at cellar temperature...
2.8 5.2% abv from bottle. Deep red colour, white head, not very lasting. Malty aroma, with toffee and some roast notes. Medium body, good carbonation. Not bad, but rather ok.
2.9 Served in a stein and looks ok from here. Aroma is nuts and parmesan. Taste is somehow not so sweet but has a parmesany sourness. Ok mouthfeel, medium body. Not good, not particularly bad.
2.9 @ Franziskaner Biergarten, München. Dark brown, beige foam. Nose of light caramel, some metallic notes, bitter finish, light roastiness. Very weak and watery but drinkable.
3.1 Bottle at Flößerstub’n restaurant, Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Clear amber-brown color with a decent head. Aroma of caramel and toasted bread. Sweet, malty, caramel, light roast and prunes flavors. Medium-bodied. OK Dunkel.
3.3 Tap at Bavarium Hannover. Pours clear brown. Malty, toffee taste. Smooth and round.
3.0 On tap at Zum Franziskaner, Munich. Dark ruby colour. Small head. Toffee and nuts flavour. Light to medium carbo.
2.9 Brewed in Russia under license with 4.7 ABV. Bronze colour, dense off-white head. Thick lacing. Aroma of roasted malts, a bit dusty, some toast. Light body. Tastes of roasted malts, toast. Low to light bitterness. Malts & hops in aftertaste. Not much flavour & aroma. -- rated with beerbasher/winphone
3.4 On tap at Munich brewpub. A very cloudy orange-brown with a thick, creamy, resilient white head. Aroma is hazelnut, roast, toasted bread. Flavor is roast, some hazelnut and caramel. Finish is roast, coffee. Lingering caramel sweetness. Medium body, soft, velvety mouthfeel and average carbonation.
3.5 500ml bottle. Brewed in Russia under licence. Pours clear brown with a small light brown head. No lacing. Pleasant aroma of roasted malts and caramel. Taste is the same. Low bitterness. Quite light bodied.
3.8 Many thanks for this beer to kevnic2008. Piwo o sporej jakosciowej piance, puszystej. Zapach czekolady na goraco. W smaku czekolada na goraco, toffi, krowki i nieco octu winnego. Fajnie uzupelnialy sie te dwa przeciwstawne smaki. Kolor bursztynowo miedziany z licznymi refleksami bordowej czerwieni. Udany Dunkel

3.0 Bottle picked up while in Munich. The beer poured a clear copper color with a small off white head that didn't retain very long. The aroma is brown bread, medium roasted malts, and some caramel. The taste is similar to the aroma with some raisin notes in there. The mouthfeel is on the medium side.
3.1 500 ml bottle. Pours a dark brown colour with a small head. Aroma of sweet malts, bread and burnt sugar. Flavour of bready malts, residual sugar, syrup, some dried fruits and mild bitterness. Medium bodied. A decent dunkel, although a bit too sweet.
3.4 On tap. Pours deep brown with a thick, quick fading head, laces well, smooth with roasted malt flavours. Nice beer.
2.7 Bottle; pours brown with a thin tan head; faint aroma of caramel and bread; taste slightly sweet with caramel and malt; has a light bitter, semi dry finish; a little watery; okay but I was expecting a little bit better
3.0 On tap at a beer hall. Bready caramel aroma. Medium brown and transparent. Sweet caramel and toffee taste, hints of coffee. Medium body although I found it to be on the lighter side which is not meant as a detractor.
2.7 On tap. Cola colour, roasted malts, burnt sugars, sweet dry final. On tap is slightly watery
3.0 Nice, brown color but very weak foam resulting in no head. Aromas of burnt bread, caramel and molasses with a slight hint of dark chocolate. Moderately bitter taste with noticeable (slightly too strong) alcohol. Lightly carbonated, light body. Short, slightly bitter finish.
2.5 50cl bottle. Aroma of burnt sugars, caramel and toffee. Pours clear brown, with thin, quickly disappearing head. Medium bitter, malty and rather alcoholic. Close to medium body, but not exactly a dunkel. It is ok, easy drinking beer.
3.5 From bottle into a glass. Off-white persistent head, clear copper to dark red/orange hued colour, clear. Aroma: toffee, caramel, light herbal, bread crust. Taste: caramel, caffè d’orzo, bit sweet, something slight minty. Palate: light to medium body, prickly carbonation at first. OK dunkel.
3.8 Valahogy az az érzése az embernek, hogy némethonban más fogalma a dunkeleknek mint itthon. Dunkelforradalmat kishazánkba!
3.4 Clear dark beer with beige small and stable head. Coffee and malt aromas with some notes of leaves, medium body with caramel flavors and some esters at the medium and a nice bitterness at the end, but a watery finish.
