Logsdon Oak-Aged Bretta

Logsdon Oak-Aged Bretta

Our organic Oak Aged Brett is made with our Seizoen Bretta that is aged for a period of time to develop the wood aged character in the beer. Oak Tannins, vanilla notes and subtle smoky spiciness soften and mellow this beer over time. The aged unfiltered beer is refermented and carbonated in the bottle with select yeast strains to provide added dryness and complexity.

3.6 750ml bottle. Hazy orange shade. Lots of foam. Fruity citrussy flavours which seem quite restrained and smoothed; guess that is the oak at work. Dry, peppery finish. Still nice but don’t think the oak treatment improved on the base.
3.8 Draft taster at Churchkey with Donnie the Degenerate. Hazy lite gold with small offwhite head. A: sour citrus and brett; brite, really nice. T: slightly subdued, but still sour citrus and brett, some grains and yeast. Really nice, lite and tasty.
4.0 Pours golden with a slight haze and laced white head. Nice funky aroma. Funky flavor that becomes lightly tart. Light bodied, an excellent American Belgian.
4.2 4 oz pour on draft at ChurchKey. Mostly clear golden orange with off-white head. Aromas of Brett, oak, citrus, funk. Tastes of oak, Brett, funk, tropical and citrus fruit. Medium body with a dry finish. Nice one.
3.7 Draft. Medium beige head atop hazy amber body. Aroma is moderately sweet, wood, Brett, light lemon, funk, orange. Taste is moderately sweet, lemon, some Brett, light wood. Medium body, some acidity.
3.6 Bottle brought back from Oregon. This one’s been in the fridge for a while, very tame upon opening. Aroma of grass and light funk. A bit sweeter than I expected, but not unpleasantly so. Easy drinker.
3.5 Bottle @ ZZT 2016-1. Aroma of brett, mild oak and malt. Fresh taste of brett, oak, grass and some grassy hops. Solid.
3.8 Warm golden colour, white head. Bit of a gusher. Aroma of brett, hops, fruity apricot notes. Light sweet flavour, apricot and brett. Bitter finish, brett. (from 75cL bottle @ ZZT 2016-1. Thanks for sharing, caesar!)
3.9 Bottle @ ZZT 2016-1, small sample. Thanks all for sharing! Slight hazy golden to orange color, medium frothy head (after a little gushing). Aroma has oak wood, fruity, pineapple, bit funky. Soft sour in taste, bit dry, oaky. I dont know if the oak makes it better to be honest, it disturbs the refreshing qualities a bit. Still, very nice beer.
3.0 Thank you Caesar! 750 ml. bottle sampled @ ZZT 2016-1. MASSIVE GUSHER! Total fountain. Deep orange, little white head. Nose is dull & moldy yeast, thick yeast, moldy & dirty brett, moldy orange. Taste is dirty brett, orange peel, yeast, brett, moldy orange, dirty, overly heavy on the yeast. For me just very thick dirty & moldy unpleasant brett. Not a fan, shame after their highly delicious Cerasus.
3.4 Rich oak-aged body with lovely, lacy head. Nice oaky and Brett mix in the aroma with sweet tart and vinegar punctuations. Sweet and tart body, that is, telltale of this brewery, exceptionally smooth. Silky vinegar underpinning.
4.0 Sampled from bottle @ ZZT 2016-1. Huge gusher!!! Hazy murky pale yellow color, average sized off-white head. Smell and taste wheat, yeast, quite a nice fruityness, softly sweetish. Don’t get the oak but the beer is quite nice.
3.7 Bottle @ ZZT 2016-1. Hazy yellow with a small white head. Smells sour, bretty. Tastes bretty, souris, slightly malty. Medium body, soft carbo.
3.6 Bottle Aroma-vanilla, barnyard Appearance-golden, hazy, white foam, Taste-medium sourness, light sweetness, lightly bitter, Palate-medium body, slick feel, lively, long finish, Overall-very good
3.6 Draft. Interesting beer, the brett character gets stronger but not necessarily better. Aroma is sweet, oily, sourish brett. Still herbal brett. Flavor has more sour fruits coming through, which are a characteristic I like less of. It’s good but I don’t like it more than the original. Also, bottles are overpriced for some neutral, air-allowing aging.
4.2 Pours hazy apricot with a thick and persistent yellow-eggshell head. Aroma features fruity, woody, butterscotch and subtle yeasty tones. Fruity flavor is only slightly sour, a little like a SweetTart candy, with fresh malt and woody notes. Firm body possesses good, lively fizz. Head for the mountains.
4.0 750ml bottle pours out a hazy gold topped with fluffy white head. Nose is wood floral notes some fruit esters a little brett funk. Taste is more of the wood nice light fruit touch grape the brett makes it a little tart and funky.
3.6 Bottle share at Evernote in Redwood City, CA. Aroma is mellow funk and light fruit...maybe peach, grapes. Taste is mild and sweet, a little earthy / oaky. Definitely one of the lighter and less interesting beers I’ve had from Logsdon. Was expecting much more from this.
3.9 Pours hazy peach with low white head. Aroma of bretta, green grapes, grass, citrus. Taste is mellow funky bretta with a mild sweet finish. Light and smooth body with average carbonation.
4.0 Fine beer with good flavour and taste. A good sour finish, but to the thin side.
3.9 750 ml bottle poured. Rating during game 8 of the year. Exploded out of the bottle. Pours a golden orange color with an infinite foam head. Peach and other orange fruit aroma. Flavor is big brett, dry, and a.bit of peach fruit. Dry, soapy finish. Good fruit linger. Good oak presence. Very fun beer to try.
4.0 Sampled at a tasting. Pale orange pour, hazy, with a fluffy white head. Smells of brett, pears, bananas and elderberries. Tastes like honey, raspberries, bananas, yeast, aspirin and vanilla. Semy-dry mouthfeel, with medium carbonation.
4.0 Bottle. A real gusher that pours hazy golden, with a massive, forever growing head. Aroma is really nice with bretty notes of wood and honey, and sweet floral notes, as well as some funky sour notes in the back. Full body, with soft to none carbonation. Flavour is tart with brett, wood and grassy notes, and a lingering sour wooden finish.
3.6 Hazy orange color with white head. Aroma is yeasty, brett forward and floral. Taste starts slightly tart, yeasty, a bit cloying with farmhouse funk. Finishes on a bitter note, yeasty and dry. Medium body with high effervescence. Quite interesting but the yeast/brett character is too cloying for my taste.
3.8 Bottle at Craigs 2016 alldayer. Pours hazy yellow gold with a thick white head. Aromas of massive Brett. Horse blanket,.sherbet. Taste is fruity, rotten fruit sherbet. Dry finish.
3.8 Bottle at craig’s. Pours hazy orange, nose is funky, citrus, light wood, taste is dry, fruity, oak, bretty.
3.0 bottle at home .. hazy golden amber .. thin white lacing .. big funky fruit bretty nose ... bretty orange .. soft zezty fruit .. soft fruit ... long dry brett fruits
3.8 Omg bees wax bruh! Udemærket stift, med en anelse for meget egefad, skjuler lidt en guddommelig Brett. Vinøsitet og sødme, samt en smule ørkenvandring ( tør). Så la’ gå da!
4.0 Bottle at Cafe Sara, december 27th 2014. Cloudy orange body with a small offwhite head. Aroma is fruity with brett funk, oak, spicy. Taste is medium sour, a mild sweetness plays with cloves and grapefruit, extremely dry and refreshing with a brett/grapefruit aftertaste. Awesome!
