Lone Pint Yellow Rose

Lone Pint Yellow Rose

Initially Pioneer I: Yellow Rose, later on became a regular.

A SMaSH, Single Malt and Single Hop, IPA using a caboodle (technical term for a large amount of malt) of malt and a new hop released in 2012 called Mosaic (HBC 369). It is a daughter of Simcoe (YCR 14), one of our favorite hops. Whole cone Mosaic is used for bittering, flavoring, and aroma in the kettle; it is also massively dry hopped. The beer is named after a Texas Heroine.

Tasting notes: chalk-white head with a very clean malt backbone. The hops impart strong grapefruit, pineapple, and blueberry flavor and aroma. A strong beer that is extremely quaffable.

3.9 It pours hazy yellow with a white head. The aroma has tropical fruit, rich malt and a bit of west coast grapefruit and zest. It has a medium body with soft carbonation. The taste is like the aroma and comes off as a nice mix of east and west coast styles.
3.5 Bottle split at RB Best Encomium share, Santa Rosa, 30/01/16 - Many Thanks ! Hazed orange with a decent off white head. Nose is orange pith, tangy citric shreds, straw, floral notes. Taste comprises mandarin, tangerines, citric tinged straw, light pine coating, toasted malts. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close peppered with balanced hop bitterness. Decent enough IPA.
4.5 Got a 4 pack of very interesting looking pint bottles. Hazy golden with decent head that smells of citrus and pine. Taste is a strong acidic grapefruit with some mild hints of pine and floral. Easy drinker that is really enjoyable but does come at a bit higher price than most. Will probably buy this one again despite the price.
3.7 cloudy pale yellow pour from bottle. smells of pineapple & mango. tropical fruit and juice with resin. pretty good.
3.7 Bottle. Pours a hazy yellow golden color with a small white head. Has a fruity malty grassy citrus hoppy aroma. Fruity malty grassy peachy citrus hoppy flavor. Has a fruity malty grassy peachy citrus hoppy finish.
3.7 From the bottle. Hazy light orange with a frothy white head. Aroma is a mix of of tropical fruits: grapefruit and pineapple noticeable but so are hints of bubblegum, spices and light dank cellar notes. Taste is bitter throughout. Body is medium. A bit too heavy to be truly refreshing but still a pleasant brew.
4.0 On tap at Whip In, pours a cloudy yellow with a small white head. Aroma brings out lots of floral hops upfront, with soft pillowy biscuity malt. Flavour is along the same lines, with floral hops, pine and biscuity malt. Soft palate, with excellent balance. Really good.
4.1 Hazy yellow color with off-white foam. Aroma has grainy malts with well integrated hop flavors. Floral, milky yeast, ripe apricots. Taste follows with grainy malts, some bread, subtle hops with really nice flavor. Medium body with soft carbonation. Really easy drinking and tasty IPA.
4.3 Multiple super fresh 16oz bottles this year. Dark straw color with white foam. Nice spicy, citrus, pine, melon fruit, berry fruit aromas. Medium bodied with soft co2. Nice dusty pils malt base brew with citrus, pine, spicy, berry fruit flavors -- crisp, drying finish -- one of the best year round packaged IPA'S out there __ excellent
3.9 Golden pour, large rocky head, rings of lacing. Balance is the name of the game here, with pineapple, floral hopping balanced out by a solid malt backbone, light earl grey, grapefruit, light bread, pine. Lighter to medium body makes this far too drinkable.
3.5 (Tap) hazy, pale bright yellow colour with a small white head; aroma of citrus, hint of dankness; balanced flavour with a long, light bitter finish
3.9 Bottles from Craft Beer Cellar, 8-29-17
3.8 From bottle. Hazy yellow golden color with white head. Hoppy and malty aroma, citrus, floral, grass, light tropical fruits, light wheat. Sweet and bitter taste like aroma. Medium oily body with soft carbonation.
4.0 Nose full of pine and citrus. Some earth in the background. Effervescent pale gold with a thick chunky bright white head. Retention for days. Thick froth left on the side of the glass. Pine. Grapefruit. Bread. Velvet mouthfeel. Crisp finish. Super well balanced. Just damn fine.
3.9 Tap at salt and time in Austin. Hazy light orange with small white head. Light citrus nose. Taste is tart, spicy, citrus, yeast, some funk, a nice bitterness. Quite good.
4.0 Very light color with stark white head and nice retention. Mainly grapefruit flavor supported by pineapple. Very good.
4.8 Yellow Rose IPA has a very thick, frothy, off-white head, a yellow-gold, hazy appearance, especially following the "swish & pour", and heavy glass lacing. Aroma is of sharp, piney hops, and the flavor is of pine, citrus fruit, sweet, white bread, and overall sugar. Mouthfeel is medium, and Yellow Rose IPA finishes mostly dry. RJT
4.0 This is good beer. Pours cloudy honey color with a big, thick, fluffy off white colored head that is fully retained. Really nice aroma with notes of citrus and flowers. Taste is bitter. Really nice balance. Hops stand out but are not overwhelming. A go to IPA for Texans.
4.0 Delicious craft IPA! Cloudy light golden straw colour with fluffy white head; lemon cake & mineral on the nose; melon & floral taste; lemon drops and zest followed by straw on finish; medium to full bodied palate. Great!
4.0 This is one of my favorite Texas IPAs for sure. It's daaaaank on the ol' nose, dank like a wet field of Hillsboro alfalfa. It's fruity after that, fruity like Pebbles. I love drinking this beer.
3.8 Bottle in Galveston Beach pour hazy avg gold with thin white head. Nose soapy, grass, resin. Taste pineapple, tropical fruit, light grass. Sweet malt mid to finish. A hint of hard candy butterscotch in the finish.
4.2 Tap at big hops. Pours slightly cloudy straw lots of head and some lacing. Nose is fruity. Flavours of peach, pear orange grapefruit. Taste med bitter med juicy sweet. Full somehat creamy body lively carbonation.
3.7 I got a little citrus but not as much as most have noted; not a hop bomb; plenty of malt to balance. not my favorite style but enjoyed this one - unique bottle also
3.8 Bottle found @ D&Q, Houston. Hazy pale yellow pour with a prominent white head. Really bright, expressive nose. Loads of tropical fruit character. Strong pineapple and melon. A touch of citrus and a bit of dank greenery. Moderately bitter flavor. Still quite fruity. Citrus fruit smoothy. Restrained, clean malt. Lightly chalky. Soft carbonation. Quite quaffable stuff.
4.0 Light golden, transparent body with a white, soapy head. The aroma is unique. Sweet breads, malt, hops, honey, flowers. A hoppy beer for sure. Yet, the malt presence can not be ignored. Normally, I find this as a deterrent. However, the malty sweetness, floral notes, and hoppy character complement one another so well. A terrifically balanced, highly drinkable, intriguing beer. Great stuff.
4.1 Thanks Virby44 for the bottle! Poured into a taster showing well filtered dark orange with half a finger of clean white foam. The nose shows floral notes with a malt background. The palate is well carbonated and light bodied. Light honey sweetness with light flavors of refreshing pineapple and lemon with a light bitterness on the finish. The resurgence shows lightly sweet malts. The sweetness does not seem to come from the malts but rather from the hops(?). Regardless, the sweetness is not off-putting in any way and harmonious with the beer. Fantastic.
3.7 Bottle shared at Ratebeer awards show. 30/01/2016. Huge Thanks! A pale golden coloured pour with a loose white head. Aroma is nice dank hop, citrus, lemon, honey malts. Flavour is composed of juicy orange, tangerine, dank, little straw. Palate is semi sweet, moderate carbonation. Decent.
0.5 A couple years ago I would have said that this is the best IPA in Texas and one of the best Mosaic IPAs anywhere. And on tap it still often is. But their bottling process must be so amateurish as all their bottles for the past year or so have either been infected and/or oxidized, which is simply not OK. Clean it up and I’ll re-rate in the 4-4.5 range.
3.7 Bottle shared at Maakun’s. Hazy pale orange pour with a thin white head. Notes of caramel, honey, sweet spices, peaches, oranges. Medium body and carbonation.
3.9 Sampled from bottle at Maakun’s. Big thanks! Slightly hazy pale golden with thin white head. Sweet malts, very fruity, peach, passionfruit, dry barley, pineapple, grass, weed. Medium sweet and moderate dry bitter. Medium body and bittersweet finish.
