Long Trail Blackbeary Wheat

Long Trail Blackbeary Wheat

This brew combines 2-Row Pilsen malt, a hint of Crystal malt, and of course, plenty of malted wheat. A hint of blackberry at the finish makes this beer a real thirst quencher! For the health conscious, Blackbeary Wheat has less than 6 grams of carbs and under 125 calories per bottle!

3.2 Not as good as Seadog blueberry.
1.5 Very little head. Slight scent of berry, but not much of a blackberry taste. Feels kind of empty after drinking.
2.6 Bottle at home. Pours clear gold with a small, fizzy white head, short retention with light lacing. Aroma is wheat malt and blackberry. Flavor is malt and blackberry with a dry finish. Light body and moderate carbonation.
2.3 The short of it is that this beer does not have enough of a flavor to be a drain pour. Fermi described someone's argument that "it was not even wrong" and this is how I feel about this beer. Chilled enough, it will pass for a refresher, but don't mistake that for a recommendation. The pale yellow-orange liquid pours nicely, with moderate, quickly dissipating head, moderate carbonation. The smell is somewhat offputting with a distinct but faint presence of rotten fruit. The odor is likely stronger when the beer is not chilled to 38F, but I'd be hard-pressed to describe it as "aroma". This only gets worse when you taste it. Although not overwhelming, the constant presence of musty black-grape flavor is distracting and bothersome, but is clearly meant to be a "feature". The rest of the flavor is missing in action -- taste more like flavored mineral water with a drop of cheap vodka. In some parallel universe it may give Leinie a run for its money--but not in mine (and I can't drink Leinie with a straight face). This alone would make me think twice about buying LT. I was initially unimpressed with LT festival samples but wanted to give them a full try. This appears to be the worst of mediocre lineup.
2.4 Pale, little head, a bit fizzy, slight fruit (blackberry?) light in body and light in flavor. Not bad, but kind of disappointing.
1.0 Poured from 12oz bottle. Very unremarkable. Almost disgusting. Just not a very good fruit beer. Very disappointed in this offering from Long Trail. --you've been Dubbed.
2.5 Not much aroma. Has a bit of a sweet blackberry taste, but not too much after that. J
3.5 clear, super light gold/medium straw pale yellow color. modest head. faint fruity nose. light fruit flavors -- somewhere between raspberry, blueberry and blackberry. light body. a bit of a sweet note mixing with wheat malt tanginess. really refreshing. clean aftertaste.
2.4 pours a light golden with an average white head. This beer is no good at all. It is grainy and lightly bitter, it has a sour bitter fruit flavor and is very plain!!
2.4 Tasted numerous times and disliked it everytime. Tastes like juice mixed with malt liquor.
2.5 Generally I like any Long Trail but this was at the lower end. Poured a light golden with white head. Had a blackberry sent with faint hop smell, overall not much taste. If someone offered it, I’d have one but don’t think I’d buy one.
2.2 Miller lite hidden in a micro? Bland, bland, & then an abrupt tasteless finish. Pours boring, smells ok w/ a hint of the blackberry, but extremely boring taste & I paid $7 for it at a baseball game! Ehh, skip it!
2.4 Draft. Pours clear light gold. Tastes dry, slightly bitter, not much flavor. Smells funky. Light body and medium carbonation.
2.9 Can. Pours urine colored, albeit with a pretty 2 finger white head. Nose is almost entirely blackberry with just a touch of wheat. Taste is similar. End result is almost like grape jelly. Palate is a little too smooth. Could be a radically different beer if it was a bit dryer. I'm very conflicted on this one. On a technical level it's too sweet and lacks depth. On a practical level it tastes pretty good and I could see it being nice on a hot summer day.
2.8 Tap. Pours clear gold with thin, fizzy white head. Aroma is blackberries, wheat, grassy notes, dough, and some cookie malt. Flavor is balanced fruit esters and bready malts with light hops; crisp, dry finish. Light body and medium carbonation.
3.9 Draft. Not a fruity wheat fan but impressed with this beer. Blackberry at the first, finishes with a nice wheat flavor. Very light. Crisp.
2.8 Tap. Blackberry aroma w some grassy undertones. Light beer that tastes like it smells. Not v much like a wheat. Not too sweet. Ok but not something to drink too much of
2.6 Bottle. Pours clear, light yellow, thin white head. Aroma is dominated by the berries. Medium sweet taste. Thin body, high carbonation, a bit of a funky tart finish. Would not recommend.
2.3 12oz bottle. Pours a pale, light straw color with thin fizzy head. Aromas of wheat and berries. Taste has just a touch of wheat, with artificial black berry flavor.
2.5 Pours completely transparent gold with a very fleeting white head. Minimal lacing. The aroma is faint wheat with a subtle hint of blackberry. The taste leaves a lot to be desired. It is certainly not unpleasant, but there is almost nothing noteworthy going on. The blackberry taste certainly tastes like an extract, not real fruit, and there are some slight chemical flavors present. It tastes as though a bottle of blackberry extra got added to a keg of a "lite beer." I won’t be trying this again.
2.9 Tastes like a decent amount of additives in this beer but not that bad for a fruit beer.
2.9 Sort of a neon-yellow but the clarity is clear. The white head disappears. Poppy and tart with the blackberry. The only thing is it taste like an additive rather than mellowed into the beer. But overall decent fruit beer.
2.0 What are we doing here? I think I got this from Andrew’s wife. A B C D E F G
2.6 Bottle. Light gold pour with minimal head. Wheat, floral, oily and soft on the nose, and blackberry. I like the aroma. The taste is light with a nice berry finish.
2.4 Ok but I wouldn’t drink it very often. Best on hot days. If I get it in a variety pack I usually give it to my girlfriend.
2.6 nice fruity aroma, tastes of malted wheat with a blackberry finish, a clear light-gold appearance with minimal frothy head, it is easy on the palate with a slightly rough finish, easy and comfortable to drink
2.5 Really mild. Pours clear and light. Mild wheat and malt taste with a small amount of blackberry. The berry was very pleasant, not overpowering or medicinal. Save it for a hot day.
2.0 Refrigerated bottle poured into a weizen glass. Pours clear pale golden with small white head. Thin small bubble lacing, light body, light/medium carbonation, and light blackberry aroma. Taste is pilsner malt and a hint of blackberry. Boring.
1.9 Where is the wheat? I’m not a huge fan of this one. It feels like I’ve been tricked into buying a specialty brew and actually ended up with a light beer. Not much to say. Meh.
