Real India Pale Ale (IPA), as it was first brewed in the days of the British Empire, was not the carefully filtered brew that we call IPA beer today. The first IPAs were unfiltered and featured extra hops and higher strength as a preservative for the long trip from England to the colony of India. Our Traditional IPA ale is naturally carbonated, dry-hopped & unfiltered like the old days.

2.6Bottle. Bright hay color, but virtually opaque. Thin but sticky top. The aroma is subtle and just hints at some fresh mown flowers. The beer is pretty tart, not unlike lemonade, with a bubbly, champagne-like consistency. Quite tart. (#5815, 10/13/2014)
3.012oz bottle pours a hazy golden/orange with a medium white head. Sweet malt aroma with some bug spray. Mild taste, light hop with caramel malt. Not offensive, forgettable but drinkable.
3.0Pours a clearish gold, thin white head. Aroma is wheat, hay, grass hop, grapefruit peel, pine, piss. Flavor is light sweet > mild fruity bitter, rather dry for an IPA. Med mouthfeel & carbonation.
3.6Part of their mixed pack on my trip to Maine. Pours a slight hazy golden colour with a frothy warm cap, good retention and foamy lace. Hoppy nose with notes of grapefruit and pine. Fruity taste with the citrus and mild bitterness creating some light dryness in the finish. A nice middle of the range IPA with a micro-feel.
3.7On tap at The White Horse (oldest tavern in America, Est. 1673). The beer was actually labeled as their house beer 1673. Clear amber pour with a white head. Floral hop bouquet. Floral and mineral hop notes with a sturdy malt backbone. Average body and mouthfeel. Good balance. A solid session IPA.

Poured from bottle into a pint glass
Appearance – Pours a golden color with a big white head. The head faded slowly over time to leave a moderate level of lacing on the side of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is heaviest of grapefruit citrus and pine hop and mixed with a biscuit smelling base.
Taste – The taste begins smooth and malty. This bready and caramel sweet flavor is soon meet with pine hop flavors that start out on the very subtle side and grow in strength as the taste moves on. As the pine grows stronger, other hop flavors of a light citrus and floral nature also some to the tongue. Overall the transitions are all very smooth and in the end leave a pleasant hop flavor on the tongue.
Mouthfeel –The body of the beer is on the thicker and creamier side for its strength, with a carbonation level that is on the slightly lower side. The creamier body helps the nice flavor transitions, as well as allows the hop flavors to really soak in.
Overall – This is a nice, more session like IPA with very smooth characteristics overall. Pretty good!!!
3.312 ounce bottle. Hazy golden color topped by a thick rocky white head. Fruity toasted malt aroma with a hint of citrus. Bitter toasted malt flavor upfront. Slightly peppery and citrusy hops in mid taste. Finish is dry with more citrus hops. Decent as American IPA’s go.
3.1A solid IPA. Pours olden with a medium head. Bitter with a malt-sweet aftertaste. A little grapefruit on the palate.
3.0Bottle. Aroma is weak. Light hop and floral aroma. Taste is malt, hops and floral end. Very easy ok drinking ipa. Decent at best.
3.0Drank many times before. Draft at Daltons. A solid IPA. Bitter finish. Resin, floral, pine. Good.
3.512 fl oz bottle in Hotel. Orange golden in the glass, fine creamy head. Fresh fruity on the nose. Starts orange fruity with a pleasant fruit herb. Maybe a little too sweet, not really bitter. Light caramell hints in the background. Easy to drink and enjoyable.
4.0It had a hazy golden color with a modest, slightly off white colored head. The head has very good retention as it hangs on well and leaves lots of cool white lace rings on the glass.
Smell: The aroma has a slightly floral bouquet with solid citrus and pine notes in the nose.
Taste/Mouth feel: There is a solid hop presence up front and throughout. It is not over the top or in your face bitter hops but it brings solid fruity citrus and piney to the overall character. The hops are tempered by a nice biscuity malt and dry earthy yeast that give it some balance and nice complexity. The finish is slow with dry yeast and hop flavors lingering a bit but not overstaying there welcome. The body has a good solid medium feel and hardy texture with average carbonation.
3.0Bottle. Hops, malt, spices, caramel/molasses?, earth, leaves. Medium body. Decent texture but it just doesn’t have enough flavor. It’s gone before I can figure out what it is. Plain.
3.4Draft. Pours golden orange with a white head. Floral and grassy hops, moderate bitterness, and a nice spicy bitter hoppy finish. Pretty good.
2.9Bottle. Smells of bread citrus and light caramel. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation and a sweet feel. Middle of the road pale ale.
4.1Draft in Bar Harbor. Pours orange with a small white head. Nose is citrus. Taste is bitter but mild.
3.3Bottle from the 12 pack
Pours a slightly hazy light golden color with a huge bubbly off white head that persists forever. Smells of bread citrus and light caramel with a hint of fruity esters. Flavor is quite malty for an IPA with huge bread and caramel notes offset with just enough earthy hops to keep it from being too sweet. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation and a sweet somewhat chalky mouthfeel. Middle of the road, old school, English inspired pale ale.
3.2I’d hoped that the previous ratings weren’t exactly true, but they were...this beer has a nice aroma, but is seriously lacking on the IPA bitterness we have come to love. The aftertaste while at first is pretty palatable, eventually becomes a bit skunky and then dry.
3.1Draft at the Phillies ballpark. Pours a clear golden color and has a mildly hoppy nose. Flavor is citrus, malt, hops; watery with an odd bitter finish.
3.4Aroma is citrus, earthy malts and a hint of spices. The flavor is citrus/possibly Challenger hops, earthy malts, very mild hop resin notes and a dry/slightly tart finish. Not bad, but better labeled as an ESB.
3.3Pours golden clear minimal head. Slight hoppy aroma with pine resin. Taste is minimal hops with slight citrus
3.0Draft at the experience hendrix concert. Aroma of light citrus hops and not much else. Taste of light citrus, pine, pretty bland, light body. Meh
3.4Reviewed from notes.
The appearance is a golden colored body with no head and leaves a ringy spotty laciness around the glass.
The smell has hops, subdued pine, mild malt background.
The taste is bitter through the hops and the pine, subdued malts coming through as the beer warms.
The palate is about a medium, sessionable, bitter yet malty coating over the mouth and tongue, no aftertaste, watery finish.
Overall, not a bad IPA, good.
2.8Horrible representative of the IPA style. More like a sour lager. There is some bitterness and faint hops, but it’s more like a failed attempt.
3.1Draft. Gold, a little haze, nice lacing. Orange, lemon, crisp, a touch of bitterness, drinkable easy ipa. Pretty good, semi-classic. Best option at a neighborhood happy hour.
3.112oz bottle from Drum Hill Liqour, Chelmsford, MA. Amber with a thin white head; heady, sweet, fruit blossom, aroma; slightly acidic fruity bitter taste; with some warming spicy hops to finish. Very pleasant and drinkable, but certainly neither a traditional IPA, nor a modern American one.
3.3Draft. Clear, golden color. Nice hoppy aroma. Flavor tasted a little bit off, like maybe dirty lines? Citrusy flavor, but the aftertaste was a little off. Overall not too bad though.
3.0Bottle. This is a decent passable IPA with some decent bite and a good price point.
3.3Pours a hazy orange yellow. Aroma is orange and malt. Taste is grainy floral with a light bitterness. Tastes natural.
3.8Light gold, clear
Full body and flavor density
Moderately bitter but beautifully balanced,
Very herby, malty,
