Lost Abbey Inferno Ale

Lost Abbey Inferno Ale

Corruption, Greed, and Lust. They’re all represented on the hooks of today. Tomorrow, they’ll be stinging Gluttony, Desire, and Sloth. Go ahead. Tell yourself you’re better than all of them. But you can’t. Hell can be funny like that. Down here it’s all just sin. Everyone here is screwed just like you. They don’t care who you sliced, diced, or cheated. No on is escaping this heinous place.

Your roommate is an ax murderer. Eerily, he’s not threatening. How can he be? Here, the Fallen Angel owns your body, mind and soul. As such, no one can take your life. It’s already been taken. Or was it given? Neither matters. Did you seriously think you were living a virtuous life. At least Satan serves beer in Hell. He brews it himself right there in that flame stoked cauldron. Rumor has it the beer is straw yellow, bone dry and simply labeled Inferno.

3.6 8.5%ABV. Belgian strong ale. Poured out gold. 6ºSRM. Nose has green apple, star fruit, phenolic nose with bandaids. Mouthfeel is heavy soupy and almost syrupy. Strong alcoholic palate, but without the heat at the back of the throat. Bitter on front of the palate, pale malt sweet. The bitter is aggressive with tanins, sap and resin. The bitter is also woody, plantlike and reminiscent of when you have a sweet orange and bite into an orange pip. Finish is woody bitter.
4.1 Deep golden color, hazy. Massive white head, beer seems to be over carbonated judging by the head and the cork that just blow from the bottle. Aroma is great, crisp and fresh, not very sweet and queasy like belgian styles can be. There’re notes of white wine, peach and tiny touch of alcohol. In taste there’re notes of fresh biscuits and cakes from the bakery. Also touch of caramel, fruits - especially in the back. Perfectly covered alcohol. In taste it’s not over carbonated at all, even more it’s almost flat. Nice but tiny body for such a strong beer. Very pleasant to drink. It’s top quality beer, no questions about that.
3.9 appear pale with a fine white head. light funky, grassy, fruity aroma, light sweet medium bitter. medium to full bodied, fizzy.
3.6 Bottle shared with ippopotamo36. Pours a yellow peach color, unclear, with a medium and persistent white head. Aroma of yeasts, citrus, orange zest, dust, cellar. Flavour is light sweet with a medium bitterness, citric, lemongrass. Medium body, over-carbonated. Ok.
3.2 Bottle in Rome-Italy, courtesy of Mortlach. Thank you. Bright and cloudy gold pour, off-white foam. Nose: Belgian spicy, mild caramel. Mouth: far too gassy, a bit unbalanced, Belgian soul but a bit rough.
3.7 Thanks to Beercation for the hook up, it made a nice beer to share with my friend celebrating his birthday! It's a rich orange-gold with a thick fluffy off-white head. The aroma is big bold belgian richness that delivers honey, orange blossoms, caramel/toffee with a bit of sharpness. The taste is hugely belgian rich orange, honey, candied fruit and a surprising dryness on a light body. I would not think this is 9%.
4.4 Bottle from local bar a very thick and full beer whit a bit of Spice it takes some space in the belly
3.9 Pours a hazy medium yellow. Aroma is lightly malty, hoppy, yeasty. Flavor is moderately sweet, highly alcoholic, citrus.
3.9 375 ml cork bottle at abv 9% opened with loud ‘pop’ bought at HK Brewcraft in Central. Looks: Translucent golden honey colour with a thick crust of yeast sediments; One and a quarter finger head with crumpety white foam which last for 3 minutes; Excellent sticky lacing and fizzy carbonation. Aroma: Fragrant malt, with wheaty tartness, dry champagne, pineapples, vanilla, alcohol, sugar, quite strong Bel yeast and very light lemon. Taste: Pleasant strong sweet full Pils malt, with strong honey, strong floral, moderate tartness, strong carbo, molasses, very light alcohol, dry biscuits, strong yeast, fair lemon, moderate bitter hops and grass. Body: Full body. Thick and very creamy palate.
4.2 Bottle@home with Erik. Haze to Milk yellow. Huge head. Well lasting white. Floral fruity. Melon pears. Fresh fruity hoppy mouthfeel. Dry bitter finish not lingering. Tannins. What a wonderful experience. Love this brew. Have to buy another. So balanced. Us interpretation of the strong Belgian blond and it's better.
4.1 Opalescent golden with a frothy large white head and excellent lacings. Aromas of wheat, white pepper, green banana, mango and young pineapple with a drop of lime bound together by fruity yeast esters with a faint hint of funk develop. Effervescent, subtely slick, rather slender yet offering a concentrated body. Wheat, fruity sweetness with some light bitterness and lovely fruity astringency. Lasting bone dry finish. Superbly in harmony.
3.9 Pours a cloudy haystack blonde with a soapy head that lingers and clings to the glass. The aroma packs a punch! Doughy, yeasty then pears, apples, pineapple juice, maybe even a touch of bubblegum? The taste is powerful, high assertive notes of passion fruit, then to dough then supported by pleasantly bitter breadcrust undertones, maybe a well-done pancake. Really hits the full octave. The hoppy aftertaste remains on the tongue but is in no-way overpowering. Mouthfeel is right down the middle of the fairway and not too thick, which would have been a little much. Overall this is an excellent, excellent and very well thought out beer - not surprising from the Lost Abbey folks.
3.9 Yeasty, esters, herbal, brett, floral, alcohol, straw, spicy. Golden colour, big white head, lacing. Noticably bitter, yeasty, lightly sweet, lightly salty, lightly sour, Fullbodied, average carbonation, warming and yeasty finish.
3.9 Lively head. Very fruity aroma with a very fruity and sweet taste. Syrupy aftertaste but really very lovely.
3.5 @ Basunen 15-12-26: Tydlig belgisk doft och smak. Inte så tvålig. Ganska torr munnkänsla. Helt ok.
3.9 A 12.7 fl oz corked and caged bottle with no visible best before date and poured into a Duvel tulip glass. It poured a cloudy straw yellow colour. Despite pouring extremely carefully, there’s was a crazy huge five finger fluffy white head that has super retention but eventually leaves lots sticky clingy lacing on the glass. Aromas are of pear, apple with some lemon and a hint of banana and clove. Taste was much like the aromas, with pear, apple, white wine grape and lemon to start which then settles to some banana and clove. Finish had some light boozy alcohol feel to it. Dry, medium bodied with huge carbonation. Overall, an enjoyable solid Belgian Strong Pale Ale.
3.7 Bottle at home in a snifter. Pours a yellow-gold haze with a one finger head and some very mild lace. Aroma is orange and lemon zest, Belgian yeasts, some barn funk, hay loft, west grass. The taste is at first the orange and lemon zest with funk and hay, then the Belgian yeasts cut in and more funk with a hint of bubblegum at the finish. Dry and big carb. Well balanced. Aged pretty well. Nicely done.
3.8 Pours hazy golden with medium white head Aromas of spices, hay, belgo yeast, hints of stable Taste of orange zest, hay, wheat, stable, spices Very bitter but good malty backbone, medium to high carbonation, dry
3.5 Pours a pale amber body with a thin head. Nice malty aroma with wood tones. Very nice and well balanced malty taste.
3.5 Bottle to tulip Mango, yeast, esters, wheat, and grains. Hazy dark amber with a voluminous 2.5 cm frothy head that seems to slowly settle reasonably fast. The effervescence is abundant and lacing is low. Taste is wheat and yeast, with some light fruitiness and a bitter finish. On the palate, it’s medium light bodied with some chalk.
4.1 Backlog from lost & found notes: Aroma of sweet fruit, grass and slight booze. Taste is oily christmas fruits with smooth marmelade. yeast notes. Pleasant and mild but still with an attitude.
4.3 375 ml bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Cork shot off hard into my hand upon uncaging. Took a while to fully pour. Pours hazy/cloudy golden orange color with a 3 finger dense and rocky off white head with insane retention, that reduces to a large cap that lasts. Dense soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a large amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big lemon, orange, pear, apple, white grape, light banana, pepper, clove, wheat, honey, biscuit, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, pale malt, and earthy hop notes; with good strength. Taste of big lemon, orange, pear, apple, white grape, light banana, pepper, clove, wheat, honey, biscuit, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Good amount of earthy/peppery yeast spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon, orange, pear, apple, grape, pepper, clove, wheat, honey, biscuit, and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, pale malt, and earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/spiciness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. High carbonation and medium bodied; with a very smooth, crisp, and fairly creamy/bready mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming lingering after the finish. Overall this is a fantastic Belgian strong pale ale style. All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, pale malt, and earthy hop flavors; and very smooth and crisp to sip on for the big ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.
4.0 Aroma of fruity esters, yeast, citrus, spices, ripe fruits, malt, hint of grapefruit, floral notes, orange peel, hoppy notes. Flavour is sweet and a bit tart with a moderate bittersweet finish. Wonderfully complex. Belgian Triple ish but also has Saison characteristics. Any way, I loved this beer.
3.0 1 July 2015, bottle. Yellow, hazy, lots of steady bubbles. Nose is spiced saison. Med body and moderately fizzy. Sweet and spiced saison with some noticeable sweet yeast. Ok.
3.8 Orange pour from bottle on San Diego brewery tour. White head. Not hot. Smooth with citrus grape head. Good. Not hot
3.3 Hazy straw bubbly. Nose is Belgian yeast, a bit fruity estery. Taste is complex Belgian yeast, a bit fruit esters, some citrus, herbal notes, grassy, very dry. Pretty good
3.6 Golden bubbly with giant foaming head. Fruity aroma with plenty of Belgian yeast and pepper. Taste is citrusy, mango, spice, pepper. Super dry and clean finish. Very good.
3.8 Head on this beer climbed right out of the glass! Pepper, spice, and light tropical fruit on the nose. Bold flavors of orange, mango, belgian spice, and mild white pepper. Dry with a super clean finish.
4.0 A bottle is opened with a huge bang. A beer is fuzzy, beuatiful light yellow colour, a head is huge and white. Aroma has flowers, fresh fruitness, oranges, some raspberries, spicyness and pepper. Taste is strongly spicy, fruits, also lots of citrusfruits and some sourness, bitterness in the end. Medium bodied, easy to drink. The great beer, complex, aromatic fruitness and harsh spicyness.
