Lost Abbey Judgment Day

Lost Abbey Judgment Day

A massive beer in every sense of the word. A stronger and more contemplative version of our Lost and Found Ale. Judgment Day is the base beer for our Cuvee de Tomme. Many of the Trappist Breweries produce a version of beer which ages incredibly well for many years to come. And, since none of us knows when the end of the world is coming, we suggest you stock up with lots of Lost Abbey beers so that when the end of the world magically appears from no where, you’ll have a beer or two on hand for even the stingiest of angels. Available in 750ml bottles and on draft at select inspired locations.

Editor's note. This is a new incarnation of Mother of All Beers, previously brewed at Pizza Port Solana Beach.

4.5 Gezapft im Neighborhood in San Diego. Körper fast schwarz, tiefes dunkel braun. Fingerbreiter dunkler Schaum. Aroma: Zitrus, kalter Kaffee, ein wenig Haselnuss, sehr balanciert. Geschmack: Kakao, Haselnuss Karamellbonbon. Cremig. Sehr sanft und balanciert, aber eine Geschmacksexplosion, großartig!
3.3 Solid, if a little sweet and simple. A quad of this gravity should in the best of worlds have a bit more depth and complexity.
4.0 750ml corked bottle, 2018 vintage. Dark fruit aroma with notes of Belgian yeast, raisin, booze and candi sugar. Pours dark toffee colored with a half a finger of tan head that has excellent retention and good lacing. Starts with dark fruit, raisin and Belgian yeast flavors. Finishes smooth and a bit dry with spicy Belgian yeast, candi sugar and a bit of booze. Nice quad.
3.7 From tap at Lost Abbey. Nice clear amber brown. Aroma of dark fruit. Taste of raisins and well controlled booze. A tasty quadrupel but enjoyment declined as it warmed and the dark fruit became overly prominent
3.6 Bottle 375ml at home. Bottled 2012. From Bierkompass. Pours dark brown, beige head. Dark malts, dried fruits raisin, chocolate, alcohol. Not in the best shape anymore. Medium body, average carbonation, dryish bitter finnish.
4.2 Co tu dużo pisać. Przesmaczny i oleisty quad z rodzynkami. Tylko brać i pić.
4.2 Paarskleurig met crèmekleurige schuimkraag die redelijk snel inzakt. Dadels, rozijnen, caramel, pruimen. Hele lange mild-bittere afdronk. Voortreffelijke quad.

3.7 Deep plummy dark brown hue under a thin light tan head. Big earthy dusty aroma with raisins and dark Belgian malts and a herbal bit of spearmint. Smooth dark robust flavor of Belgian dark malts and a boozy dry dustiness and a bit of dried dark fruity tones.
3.8 Bottle from a trade. Dark brown colour, beige foam. Nose of sweet malts, plums, raisins, dried fruit. Rather sweet, light bitter finish. Not a bad one.
3.6 Appearance: Dark reddish brown. Opaque. Finger of tan tiny bubbles. Nose: Malty with definite raisin elements. A little roasty and a little sweet. Taste: Boozy sweet dark stone fruit with raisins. Lightly roasted caramel malts. Body: Smooth medium to fuller with soft bubbles. Parting thoughts: Roastier and darker than anticipated, but a flavorful quad none the less. There exist several interesting variants including barrel aging and promising flavor additives. I look forward to finding those for sale.
3.8 Fajny aromat, świetny wygląd i super smak. Rodzynki wyczuwalne i fajnie pasują do stylu.
3.5 Bottle from Bottlecraft in San Diego. Dark brown with a thin beige head. Aroma of raisins and sweet Belgian yeast. Sweet and a touch boozy with distinct raisin in the finish.
4.4 Aromat przyjemny rodzynki itp. Smak dość złożony słodki gęsty rodzynki i karmel. Pite dawno
4.0 Bottle from BevMo! in Redwood City, CA. Aroma is raisins, spiced booze, dark fruits, some chocolate. Taste is boozy, spiked dark cherries and raisins, spiced and fermented breads. Really tasty and complex with some serious booziness.
3.4 Pours a rich black coffee brown from a bottle, thick off-white head.Aroma is a rich maltiness, almost a hint of coffee, but with a faint whiff of raisin. Similar flavor, but nicely non-boozy despite the boost. Good beer.
4.0 On tap at the brewery. Dark brown. Nose is dried fruits, raisin, chocolate, candied sugar. Tastes candied sugar, warm booze, raisings.. very good. I can see its aging potential.
4.4 Tap. Brown with small head. Moderately sweet. Dark fruit, especially raisin and plum. Light brown sugar. Crazy smooth. Excellent for the style.
3.7 UT070917 backlog. On tap at Brewdog Shoreditch, London. Nose is Roasty. Molasses, licorice, roasted malt. Medium to heavy bittersweet. Medium lasting roasty medium bitter, medium alcohol warmth. Full, sticky, soft carb. 847414
4.5 One of the rewards to myself in a visit to the Windy City. The cork comes out of the 750 ml bottle and the contents go into my Chimay glass, reserved for such tastings. The brew delivers a classic quadrupel body, very dark with a tinge of red around the outside. The head comes on strong, tan colored and finely bubbled, and hangs in there long term. The nose gives me currant, vanilla and some floral. The taste, top 50 deservedly, improves on the interesting scent. I find plum, fig, a bit of oakiness, something earthy, yeast, a toffee sweetness. A subdued strength in the flavors, sort of an American version of Rochefort 10, high praise intended. A slight bitterness ending, all well done.
3.9 Mahogany color, medium sized brown head. Aromas of toffee, dried fruits, vanilla, alcohol, raisins, light licorice and vinous hints. Sweet taste with raisins, alcohol, syrup, licorice, wood and spices. Finish feels a bit off, but solid overall.
3.4 Bottle shared at tasting. Unclear brown colour, large tan head. Aroma of raisins, dried fruits, caramel, biscuit. Taste is medium+ sweet and light to medium bitter, raisin, dried fruit, caramel, alcohol, notes of red fruits. Boozy and fruity finish. Medium to full body, average carbonation. Nice quad, but too boozy, slightly disappointing.
3.7 Very close to a black pour with tannish head. Fairly subdued aroma at a double digit alch. Dark fruits, licorice, clove, oak and spice. Flavor contains a lot of heat, clove and spice, raisins, plums, dark roasted and burnt notes and rum. It is dark. I enjoy the attempt at a super darker than black tasting quad with some fruity notes, though it doesn’t hit me as a super meshable cocktail.
4.0 Aromat: bardzo słodki, gęsty i zawiesisty, rodzynki, suszone śliwki, figi, karmel. Po chwili wchodzą jasne owoce, gruszki, banan, morele, brzoskwinie. Wygląd: barwa ciemnej miedzi, śliczna, bardzo wysoka, kremowa piana średniopęcherzykowa. Smak: słodkie, gęste, treściwe, pełne. Rodzynki, karmel, suszone śliwki, gruszki, jabłka i figi. Dobre piwo. 7/4/8/4/17
