Lost Abbey My Black Parade

Lost Abbey My Black Parade

A blended Bourbon barrel-aged Strong Ale with cocoa nibs, vanilla bean and spices. My Black Parade begins with a deep bouquet of rich chocolate and layered hints of cinnamon and oak. Huge flavors of cocoa on the palate with notes of vanilla, bourbon, and tobacco, finishing with crisp bite from the smoked chili’s and cardamom.

3.8 from Bierkeller Au Trappiste - black beer with a moderate beige foam left; some roasted coffee beans in front of solid notes of Bourbon, cherries and prunes; full-bodied and pretty sweet; notes of burning alcohol, chocolate, vanilla, Bourbon and prunes in a very long finish
3.8 Bottle shared by beersandblues2. Pours deep dark brown. Aroma and flavor are chocolate, booze, oak, dark fruit notes, and some earthiness. Full body.

4.0 Piana obfita, drobna, ale szybko redukuje się do grubego kożucha. Piwo czarno-rubinowe. W aromacie marmolada śliwkowa, wiśnie, pestki, dębina, kokos, cynamon, ciasteczka czekoladowe. W smaku ciasteczka czekoladowe, kawa, leciutki popiół. Marmolada, wiśnie, karmel, cynamon, nuty ziołowe, minimalna lukrecja. Umiarkowana słodycz, lekka nieco pestkowa cierpkość. Goryczka średnia w stronę niskiej. Od beczki tylko dębina i nieco wanilii. Brakuje bogactwa, głębi, które są w zapachu. Dobre, ale nie wybitne.
4.0 375 ml bottle (12% abv). Pours black color with a beige head. Aroma is strong with bourbon, spices, roasted malts, caramel, some syrupy sweetness. Flavor is spicy and toasted malty, bourbon-vanilla sweetness, subtle syrup, dried fruits and caramel. Quite nice multi-layered brew, the spiciness isn't too overwhelming. Very nice. 4435
3.8 37,5 cl bottle (12%) @ olio Aroma has strong bourbon tones, vanilla and alcohol. Feels sweet. Flavour has mild spicy tones, bourbon, alcohol, vanilla and mild licorice. Feels even a bit watery for this ABV and has rubbery tones on some sips. Nice, but I expected even more from a strong beer from LA.
4.1 375ml bottle from Beergium. Pours pitch black with a light brown head. Aroma of bourbon, vanilla, oak, cocoa, hints of roastiness, syrup, spices, chili, chocolate and toffee. Taste is sweetish, syrupy with some oak, vanilla, bourbon, toffee, cocoa and chocolate, hints of spices, cinnamon and chili. Finish is sweetish and syrupy with some bourbon, vanilla, toffee, spices, cinnamon and oak. Complex, heavy and spicy. Nice.
3.5 Bottle. Black with a large light brown head with good retention, lace and regeneration. The aroma is spicy, but not something I can figure out, some cinnamon perhaps. Also light chocolate, roasted malt and tobacco. The flavour has mild cinnamon, liquorice, chocolate, dark wood, mild black pepper, vanilla and tobacco. Full body, soft texture, medium to heavy sweet and bitter. Warming, but not boozy. Soft and warming finish with some lingering vanilla and cinnamon.
4.0 Dark brown to black in color, tan head... Aroma of tobacco, anise, peppers, cocoa powder, bourbon barrel... Flavor is an intensely complex combination of vanilla, cinnamon, peppers, bourbon and oak, with some tobacco on finish... Really well done, LA really knocked this out the park
4.5 Piana ciemna, sycząca, szybko opada do firanki. Barwa ciemno brązowa, prawie czarna, nieprzejrzysta. W aromacie intensywne i przyjemne nuty beczki - wanilina, kokos do tego czekolada, praliny, delikatne przyprawy... Super. Ogólnie płynny deser z pięknym aromatem, fantastyczny barrel ageing, choć (jak zwykle) niepotrzebne chili i zbędna kwaśność nieco studzą zapędy w ocenie.
4.0 Pours dark brown with a quickly fading brown head. Nose is vanilla, chocolate, dark dried fruit, and bourbon. Flavour is cocoa, vanilla, oaky bourbon, cardamon, and fig. Beautifully composed barrel-aged strong ale.

4.1 (375ml 2016 bottle from boxbeers.dk) Pours black with a fizzy pale tan head that fades to a ring quickly. Aroma of bourbon, vanilla, cocoa, dark malt, cardamom buns, a bit of fruit, spicebox. Flavour is smooth dark malt with notes of cola, molasses and fudge, chocolate brownie, cardamom, cinnamon, bourbon, light vanilla, oak, cigar tobacco. Semi-sweet up front, it ends quite dry with dusty roast, cacao, oak, ash, light but smoky chili pepper heat, spicebox, cardamom and light alcohol. Medium bodied, with high mouth-filling soda carbonation, a good change from "Flat Abbey" but it was better when swirled out a bit. Solid, feels like a low roast stout as much as a black ale, good spicing, balanced, big bourbon but not overpowering. Nice sipper, especially as a cardamom fan.
3.3 Bottle shared at Ryan's December 2017 tasting. Pours a deep brownish black with thin lace. Nose is spice, cardamom and lots of booze. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, spicy and aggressively strong with notes of bourbon, cinnamon spice, cocoa, tobacco and vanilla.
