3.9 Bottle. Hazy pinkish pour. Aroma is fruity, strawberry, winey notes, light acetic aromas, very winey. Taste is fruity, tart, quite dry, fruity acidity with a bit of oak on the finish. A bit flat (or overcarbed for lost abbey can’t decide).
4.0 Bottle shared by Fred82, thnaks a lot. Pour is hazy orange with minimal white head. Aroma has white grapes, acidic, fruity, oak. Taste is sour, oak, winey, tart fruits. light body, soft carbonation. Very good
4.1 Bottle (750 ml). Shared by Fred82, thanks a million! Beautiful hazy salmon with little to no head and no lacing. Aroma is winey and fruity (peach, raspberries, strawberries, grapes) with funky notes and light earthy notes. Taste is moderately sour with winey notes again, fruits (grapes, peach, raspberries), wood, funk, earthy notes and dust. Low carbonation (but not flat). Winey mouthfeel. Moderately dry. Complex and well-executed Sour. Good balance, interesting fruityness. Not overpowering.
4.2 Poured into a lost abbey tekku. Poured a bright yellow with bits and pieces of pink grape skins. Nose was sour grapes with a hint of stone fruit. Flavor was grape, sour with a nice funk from aged brett
4.2 Bottle shared by badnewsbeers. Hazy medium orange body with sediment, thin clumping off-white head. Tart, sour nose, cobwebby and lemony. Cobwebby body, grassy and dusty; tart and sour, rather Cantillonesque, biting and clean. The grapes provide a tart, tannic quality reminiscent of cranberries. Dry with little sweetness. Outstanding.
4.2 Consumed with all ten Veritas beers on April 14, 2012. Shared by yourefragile. Thanks Michael. The beer is yellow with pink highlights, and mildly hazy with a thin, fleeting head. The aroma offers grapes, assorted tart fruit, oak, funk. Another winner from The Lost Abbey. This beer is extremely flavorful and brings a powerful and aggressive tartness in the finish. Wow, this flight of Veritas (004-007) is pretty mind blowing. Highly recommended. I would love to have this again. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 04-22-2012
3.6 375 mL bottle at City Beer in San Francisco, served in a dessert wine glass. Pours cloudy reddish-amber with a few bubbles and virtually no head. The nose has huge, intense notes of sour grape and apple combined with floral and earthy notes with a Brett funkiness. The flavour is intensely sour up front, with apples, grapes, berries and a touch of oak barrels. It acquires dusty, earthy notes and progresses to a long, peppery finish that is still quite sour with grape skins. On the palate, it is medium in body with a dry, astringent texture and virtually no carbonation. Overall, this is a very nice sour. Very complex, but also very sour. 2012-02-17
3.8 NOTF 2010. Deep amber pour with a lightly spicy nose. Bright cheesy funk. Rich and peppery with a nice zesty wildness. Chewy palate with some sharp tartness cutting through it. Full on funk fest. Awesome.
4.1 thanks adam! Pours glowing amber gold white head. Nose peach, lemons, acid and Brett. Flavors of lemons, tart acidic, tangerine, Brett and acid finish. Good stuff,
4.4 Bottle shared at Eagle Rock during RBSG 2012. Reminds me very much of Temptation, but with a more harsh sourness, perhaps more acetic. Lemony with lactic and citric notes, mild grape sweetness, crabapple. Modest funkiness.
4.1 Bottled at RBSG. Salmon pink with lace. Acid nose, grapefruit and other citrus, wood, barnyard. Quite sour flavor, grapefruit, dust, quite funky. Very sour and a bit chocking. Nice stuff. The best of the Veritii I tried today.
4.4 Bottle acquired via trade. Pours a richly deeper berry or grape tinged golden pour. Firm haze, good glowing reddish glowing elements overall. A frothy whitish head dies to a ring, laces small. Whitish and inviting with some good touches of pink. Aromas are richly sour, lemon and lactic mix with wine grapes, touches of grapeskins, grape fruit, must and funky brett. Straw, bretty funk, cobwebs and cheese with gentle oak coming into the fold. Initial is lighter end of the fold, a touch of girth from the base offers richer sour lemonsn yogurt, and sour grapes. Crab apples, oak, and touches of vanilla. Funky brett, dryness, and firm dryness musty nose leads to an inviting dry body, crisp fruit and sourness. Effervescent carbonation, dry funky brett, and tartness and sour elements are inviting. Richer firmly inviting Franc grape elements, grapeskins, lemons, grapefruit. Really great sour, fairly well balanced yet assertive flavors. Really fucking good. One of my more favorite Veritas beers.
4.0 Sampled this at a sour tasting that Tomme Arthur showed up at out of the blue at. Poured a pink-orange color with a wispy off-white head. Aroma was mild tart notes - grape touch , but mostly mild. Flavor was a touch of raspberries and some wine grape notes.
4.3 I got this from Snojerk321 in a trade a while back. Thanks, Torry. If I wait until the right time to crack this I may never be opening it. Pours a reddish-gold color, kind of orange, with a thin off-white head on top. The aroma is funky and fruity; cherries, lemon, oranges, along with wood and dust. This is crisp and quite tart. Plent of citric acidity and acetic funk here. Sour lemon, red grape, dusty notes, barnyard funk, and a lengthy bandaid note all are noted as well. There’s some silky sweetness to the body that’s quickly covered by the puckery fruity notes. Yet another very tasty sour from Lost Abbey. I wish these Veritas offerings were a little easier to come by. Would love to try others.
4.0 @HallingHansen tasting, thanks for sharing. Pours cloudy amber with a white head. Aroma is tart, acidic, leather, grapefruit and brett. Flavour is tart heavu acidic, leather, grapefruit, brett and barnyard.
4.5 Old rating. Draft at Monk’s for the Lost Abbey dinner with Tomme Arthur. Pours hazy shiny amber with a thin, off-white head. Aroma of lemonhead, honey, hops, barley, malts, raspberyy, cherry, oak, lemon skin, and slight hints of jasmine. Body is medium with an immensely sticky, rigid palate. Aftertast packs a sour wallop. Outstanding brew. One of the very best sour ales I’ve tasted thus far
4.6 From notes. Light grapefruit color, slightly hazy, with a small off white head. The aroma is full, tart, and complex. There is red grapes, white grapes, funky notes, lemon zest, citrus tartness and acetic tartness in the nose. The flavor just blows me away. The sour flavor starts strong and stays strong. Lemon zest, red wine, oak, sour cherries, white grape skin, with a Brett character throughout. An acetic tartness starts in the background and becomes more pronounced as the sip progresses. There are definite wine and oak characteristics from the barrel as well. The beer is obviously sour, with Bretty funk and a pungent acetic feel. The carbonation is right at the proper level, working with the beer to accentuate the flavors. It has a light body. This was simply incredible overall.
4.5 Thanks for bringing this longtime want Chad. Poured into a Duvel tulip. Half fingers worth of head. A murky grapefruit in color. Nose resembles Isabelle quite a bit, peach, rock fruit, white wine, mineral, and some vinegar. Wow, really nice flavor profile on this. Again, reminds me a lot of Isabelle but you can definitely see the influence of the cab franc grapes. Light mouthfeel, good acidity, lively carb, and a nice lingering finish. Of the Veritas ive had, this is right up there with 006. Tastes outstanding, really bright nose, exceptional stout.
4.0 At HallingHansen Grand Tasting, thanks for sharing. Pours an unclear and orange beer with a white head. The aroma is malt, fruit and acidity. The flavor follows the nose. The palate is acidic. Overall a good beer.
4.2 On tap at City Beer Store. Pours a pinkish amber with no head, just a couple of bubbles at the edge of the glass. The aroma has a lot of funky brett, with some lemon, raspberry, grape skin, some lactic, cherry, and a bit of oak. The taste is quite tart with lemon, raspberry, a lot of funky brett, and some grape skin. The finish is dry, oaky, and funky with a decent amount of astringency. Light body with low carbonation. It could have used more carbonation, but it was still quite a great beer.
3.7 Bottle shared by Anker, thanks buddy. Hazy amber body with a small white head. Aroma is sour, tart, dust, oak, fruity, barnyard. Flavor is tart, acid, barnyard, oak, dust, vinegar. Nice.
3.9 Cloudy orange with a small white head. Funky aroma with leather, hay, and old wood. Dry and tart, quite complex flavour with funk, lots of citrus acidiyty and a bit of malt.
4.0 Bottle @ Hallinghansens US Tasting, Odense. Pours cloudy dark golden with a fluffy white head. Brett, heavy funk and barnyard. Tart and fruity flavor. Lots of brett and grapefruit. Dry and really sour finish! Daiimmnn.
4.0 Bottle at hallinghansen grand tasting. Pours cloudy orange with a creamy white head. The aroma is grapefruit, barnyard, vinous, oak, wet wood, exotc fruit and some sweet caramel. The flavour is quite acidic and though very fruity. Grapefruit and sour grapes. Vinegar and fryuit mixed. In the good way!
4.0 Bottle from Brandon rare fucking beer what’s up?!? Tons of raspberry sour strong assertiveness. Cherry perhaps a little medicinal at tomes. Pours orange reddish, no head pr lace, visible carbonation. Muddy. Fresh and fruit sourneaa raspberry ip front cherry lemon citrus fruits. Bright big bubbles carbonation. Drinkable ans tart airy sour. Nice beer!
4.1 750, corked and baled. Thanks bvc! Pours a murky pink with burgundy center. Headless and laceless. Big raspberry and strawberry nose, bracing with citric acid. Crisp puckery body, almost creates the illusion of pulpiness. Raspberry and strawberry mid palate. Long puckery finish.
4.4 Bottle procured at release. Split with Shyam and nbutler11. Very impressive. Nose is more like a 3F nose than any American beer I’ve tasted: feet, vinegar, yeast, grass, very dry. Color is like blood faded by the sun. Flavor is only barley fruity (the grapes are there but very dry) along with a classic lambic flavor (minus the peppery notes). Tannins fold nicely into the dryness of the beer. This is not a fruity American sour at all - no syrup, no juice, just dry tartness. It’s not on the level of a Shaerbeekse or a Lou Pepe Kriek, but a damn fine beer.
4.2 shared by Skyview. copper color. sour, acidic aroma. flavor is also sour and dry. very good.
4.2 Pours lightly pink and blush with really no head to speak of. Sour raspberries with a bit of earthiness, berries, and rather acidic on the nose. Really sour on the tongue with a great lip puckering effect. Sour berries, raspberries, and a strong earthiness. Lip puckering effect with a nice sour quality. Excellent.
4.1 750 bomber. Pours a hazy light pink. Decent head with nice lacing. Nose is lemony, with sour grape notes and a bit of funk. Taste has white grapes, lemon zest and a cran-apple flavor finish. Tart, but balanced. Mildly carbonated. Had the latest 3, found this one the most sour of the batch..
