Not for the faint hearted! Our stout rewards the palate with robust flavor of roasted malts (malts are roasted like coffee beans) and heavy hops. A creamy smooth surprise.

3.6Malty creamy and well done. Dark thick chewy. Nice for abv. Aroma has some vanilla like flavors. Lasting head.
3.9Pours a brownish black. Sweet malt, cocoa, coffee, toffee, molasses, grain and slight licorice aroma. Creamy with flavours of toasty malt, dark chocolate, espresso, bread, cane sugar, tar and nuts. Long bitterness to savour.
3.1première impression loin d'être positive dans sa robe trop claire et sont aspect trop acqueux pour une stout. Bonne surprise au nez avec des arômes de café assez fortes. en bouche un goût très léger qui ce laisse boire mais pas une bière de dégustation.
4.1Bottle from Butcher Block, Sarasota - Pours black, minimal head.. Aroma of roast, cloves and Holiday spices. Tastes of roast, Christmas spices, cloves, smoke, and bitter dark chocolate. Palate same. A bit watery but overall a wonderful brew. One of the best Sweet Stouts i've had. Definitely recommend this one!
3.7Sample at a beer tasting.
Thin tan head. Clear black pour. Lots of coffee and chocolate.
2.7From Mar 2007
Pours from 12oz bottle a very dark brown with a large tannish head of foam that shrinks to a solid layer with lacing.
The smell is light but I note roasted and sweet malt.
The taste on first sip has a lot of semi sweet malt to it with some roastiness and grain. Further sips in and there's a touch of citric bitterness midway through and through to the finish. It's a bit thin when it comes to the mouthfeel and the finish itself is on the watery side. Hmm.
Bottom line: This is an okay Stout but I've had many "regular" American Stouts that were much better.
Thanks to Wsatch for this sample!
3.4From the tap at FOB, Rimini, Italy. Pours black with abundant brown foam. Aroma is vanilla and roasted coffee. Body is slightly light with rather low carbonation. Delicate. Taste is moderate in both sweetness and bitterness, the roasted feeling being dominant. Finish is not very interesting.
3.912 oz bottle pours an opaque dark brown black with small vanishing tan head and no lacing. Aroma is full of roasted malts, with touches of almonds, vanilla cocoa and coffee. This one is as flavorful as an imperial stout, but much easier to drink. Taste is moderately sweet at first with a dry finish. Body is medium with average carbonation and a creamy mouthfeel. This was a pleasant surprise, to which I hope I may return.
3.8Medium roasted aroma. Black, medium light brown head. Medium sweetness and bitterness, light sour. Medium body, light bitter after taste.
3.8Pours a large frothy brownish head. Has a clean, dark brown appearance. Lacing is ok. Aromas of coffee, dark roasted malts and earthy hops. Flavours of dark chocolate, roasted malts, light caramel and toffee notes as well as toasty and nutty malts. Also some hints of vanilla. Smooth creamy mouthfeel. Medium bodied. Lively carbonation. Really smooth and easy going down. Displayed as a strong beer at 5.8%, but quite deceptive as it does not feel like a strong beer whatsoever.
3.6Bottle. Dark brown red black. Thin medium brown head. Taste is light to medium sweet, light to medium bitter. Thin body. Aroma and flavour is roasted, coffee, nuts, cacao, . I was expecting a thicker smoother body.
3.5Black with thin, quick fading head. Aroma and flavour have a very good balance of sweet and bitter. Smooth roasted malts. Light bitterness. Well rounded.
3.1Bottled. 33cl sample. The aroma has strong soft milk chocolate, bit flowery tones, light toast. Black coloure dbeer with a medium, beige head. The taste is moderate sweet, has milk chocolate, slightly sourish. Light-medium bodied beer.
3.9On bottle from Vinmonopolet Aker Brygge. Pitch black
Color, some brownish foam. Medium high aroma intensity; roasty, leather, some coffee and choclate. Medium full body & complexity . Good bitterness and balance. Very enjoyable
3.3Bottle from VInmonopolet Sandefjord. Dark brown. Coffee, malt, chocolate and some Seltzers flavour. Mostly bitter. A bit dry. Medium body. Above average amount of carbonation.
3.9Dark and sweet, some licorice notes. Deep roasted flavors too.A good stout, tasty for sure. From a bottle in my cellar.
3.3Dark brown with tan head. Chocolate, roast and toast. Sweet and spicy finish. Good!
3.6Bottle. Black with low foam. Aroma is roasted, licorice and some metallic. Taste is roasted, some coffee and some chocolate. Quite bitter for a sweet stout, but good. Nice.
3.7Bottle from Vinmonopolet, Kvadrat. Pours dark brown with a big creamy tan head. Aroma of weak roasted malts, cocoa, inviting. Taste is light sweet, chocolate, lactose, creamy mouthfeel, dark light roasted malty finish with a suitable dyness, very good and interesting.
3.7I’m happy to have not rated this before as I can have it on tap. And regarding that, I’m having a lamb burger at the Saranac Public house. No flights, so just a pint. Sweet, almost milk, chocolate aromatics abound. It’s a bit tgin, but the chocolate and coffee flavours are nice.
3.8March 27 2017:
On tap at St Augustine’s in Vancouver. A very dark beer with a moderate tan head and a nose reminiscent of coffee and chocolate. In the mouth this comes off as slightly fruity. Very sweet. Low bitterness. Body is a bit thin. Interesting. 3.5
April 9 2021:
A bomber from Toby’s Liquor on Vancouver’s north shore. Just a very nicely balanced oatmeal stout. The oatmeal is noticeable, just barely, and that’s a good thing. Great stuff!
3.7(Lost Coast 8 Ball Stout) Bottle 355ml at home. Into a shaker, ABV 5.8%
Dark brown to black colour on the body, one finger of thick and creamy beige head, very good retention.
Aroma of toasted malts, chocolate, cocoa, oats.
Taste begins sweet, chocolate, oats, lactose, cocoa, then roasted malts, faint bitter finish.
Medium body, good carbonation.
Quite good.
3.2Cocoa aroma. If you want to bare with the "stout" you’d better add "light" to it. Feels more like a porter to me. Well-balanced and just the right roast.
2.7Arôme de torrefaction et chocolat. Gout de torréfaction. Floteuse vers la fin. Pas assez de poigne pour un vrai stout
3.4Has great mouthfeel. The taste and color is a little thin. Bit of chocolate but not much else. Rest is a very clean malt taste.
2.931st October 2016
Bottleshare at Matteo’s. Thanks to Daniel. Clear deep amber beer, good pale tan head. Palate is smooth and semi dry, modest carbonation. Smooth mild dark malts. Trace of milky sweetness. Modest dark malt tang and dark fruits. Smooth semi dry finish. Okay.
