Robust with sweetness & depth.

You say ‘porter’. We say ‘poorter’.

Some say the beer known as ‘porter’ is of Dutch origin. ‘Poorter’ was long favoured by hard-working labourers for its hearty and refreshing taste. Our poorter celebrates the haul of exotic botanicals, by poorters from the dockside into Amsterdam warehouses. Climb aboard!

3.5 33 cl. bottle @ home, served in a tulip glass, due date: 2020/12. Aroma: roasted coffee, roasted malts, black coffee, chocolate, cocoa. Hints of vanilla, smoke. Appearance: very dark brown color, almost black. Light brown color foam quite fluffy and made of tiny to small sized bubbles. Medium to high head thickness with medium to high retention and medium to high Brussels' lacing. Too dark to talk about haziness. Taste: medium sweetness, medium bitterness, low sourness. Flavors of roasted malts, roasted coffee, cocoa, black chocolate, black coffee, licorice, hints of vanilla, smoke. Well balanced for the style. Mouthfeel: medium body, oily to silky texture, low to medium carbonation, very long dry finish with medium bitterness and the same aforementioned flavors. Alcohol is well hidden and only noticeable because of its throat and mouth warming. Astringency is very low. Acidity from the black malts is low but noticeable. Overall: good appearance, good aromas and flavors of roasted malts, roasted coffee, black coffee, chocolate, cocoa. Hints of vanilla and licorice. Quite good, but it would be better with a bit less of carbonation, more layers of flavors and a less bitter finish. Overall a good beer and a good sipper to enjoy in these cold autumn nights.
3.4 Bottled, 330ml from The Smiling Grape Company, St. Neots, Cambs. Virtually black with beige head. There are sweet, darkly roasted malts to the fore, vanilla and sweet liquorice flavours along with a light cough medicine note. Some booziness. It's fine.
3.0 2.69 @ Mitra Emmen.
3.7 Bottle. Malty aroma and taste, coffee, chocolate, roastyness, light vanilla, light sweet, medium bitter. Medium to full body, malty bitter sweet finish with light loqourice notes. Ok.

4.5 Tap @ Little Delirium, Amsterdam VIII 2018. Een zachte stroperig rokerige zoet zachte bitter. Zacht smokey rokerig. Koffie, chocolade met vanille tonen en redelijk droog. Subtiel is het woord wat hierbij past. Wordt nergens over heersend maar de baseline smaak is gewoon onovertrefbaar :-) Kortom fantastische Porter. Origineel glas
3.2 33 cl. bottle at home. High creamy and lasting light brown head. Pitch black body. Roasted malt caramel liquorice aroma and flavor with a hint of coffee as well. Little hops bitterness, Low carbonation, long relatively sweet finish.
4.0 Mijn favoriete biergenre, de porter. Deze van Lowlander is 6% en heeft tonen van vanille en zoethout. Zachte volle smaak. Prima bier!
3.5 Chocolate and roasted aroma, light burnt bread and iron. Pitch black color with medium sized brown head. Licorice in taste, strong roasted malt, some beetroot, very mild vanilla in aftertaste. Medium body, average carbonation. //bottle from Pivoteka
3.4 Bottled. 33cl sample. The aroma has roast, bread, licorice, some grass/herbs. Black coloured beer with an off-white head. The taste is light bitter, has roast, bread, hay mainly, some red fruits. Light-medium bodied beer. Nice one.
3.7 from Bier-Bienne - dark beer with a dark beige foam, nice lace; fairly roasted aroma of vanilla and licorice, notes of alpine herbs and mocha; smooth palate, medium-bodied, subtle carbonation; some herbal bitterness; more licorice on top of vanilla notes in the finish
3.6 33cl Bottle @ Saveur-Biere, Lille, France. Dark brown colour with a thin white head. Aroma is roasted malt, cocoa, vanilla, licorice. Taste is roasted malt, milk chocolate, toffee, vanilla, licorice. Medium body, average carbonation.
3.5 Bottle from Wine Rack, Harpenden. Dark brown with a thin off-white head. The vanilla is light but evident enough to enjoy in both aroma and taste, and as there's very little roasted about this porter nothing compromises it. The liquorice perhaps accounts for its small sweetness and small tanginess.
3.6 Nice porter. Smooth vanilla notes with a hint of licorice, nothing overpowering. Boozy on the nose but not in the mouth. Enjoyed this.
3.4 Copenhagen 7/5 2018. 33 cl bottle from Brønshøj Vinhandel.Brønshøj Torv. Some kind of Giant carrying a three-masted Ship on the label. Quite fitting for the style, I suppose. Pours opaque dark brown with light tan head. Settles as thin patchy layer of foam. Moderate lacing. Aroma is intense and sweet with a bitter twist.Candy-like sweetness mingling with coffee bitterness. The Vanilla mentioned on the label chiming in. Light notes of licorice. Soft carbonation. Medium thick, creamy texture. Flavor has pronounced sweetness followed by a weaker bitterness. Aftertaste is sweet vanilla. A quite light porter with pronounced sweetness which keeps it's promise of Vanilla and Licorice without overdoing it.
3.7 Draft at Uiver. Jet black color, brown ice cream cone head. Fruity coffee aroma. Taste is soft dark roast coffee. Easy drinking.
3.2 Bottle. Very dark brown, small and fully diminishing light brown head. Moderate to full, malty and sweetish aroma, some roasted malt and some vanilla, light licorice. Body is medium to full, malty and lightly sweetish - sweetish, light - some roasted malt and vanilla, light licorice and hoppyness. Finish is average, malty and lightly sweetish - sweetish, some roasted malt and light - some vanilla, light licorice and hoppyness hoppyness. Sweetish porter with roastiness and vanilla. OK but nothing special.
