Lucky Bucket IPA

Lucky Bucket IPA

Lucky Bucket’s Original American IPA begins with a nice malt bill that lets the brew stand up to the mountain of hops added later. After the boil, the hot wort (the beer before it’s really beer) is fired through a hop back, a unique four-barrel stainless steel tank filled with a gratuitous amount of raw flower Amarillo, Centennial, and Cascade hops, extracting the aromatic oils and flavor of the hops. Followed with additional dry hopping in the fermenter, the end result is a big, well-balanced West Coast-style IPA with terrific hop flavor and aroma.

4.3 355 ml bottle. Hazy orange with white head. Smell is heavy hoppy with grapefruit, pine and flowers. Taste is bitter grapefruit citrus, flowers and pine. Very well balanced. Dry with high bitterness and medium carbonation.
3.5 Pours a really nice amber with off-white, slightly greenish head (my imagination? coloring from hops). Aromas are nice piney and citrusy hop aromas, pretzels, breadiness. A little low carbonation-wise, but a nice mouthfeel, smooth, hop-forward but not overbearingly so. Quite nicely balanced and a good all-round IPA.
3.5 Pours cloudy amber with small tan head out of bottle. Aroma similar to sculpin with a wide variety of hops. Taste like they added too much hops and not enough grain. Good flavor overall but they needed a little more flavor beyond hops.
3.5 Pretty good, nice hop taste it is thick, heavy and intense. However it has a little bit of a thin backbone. That is what is keeping it from being an amazing IPA. I had Dale's early and although the hops aren't as intense compared to this one, Dale's is more balanced.
3.4 Bottle at Cherry Bomb Osaka. Pours gold with small lasting head. Aroma has citrus and pine hops, as does the flavour with some floral notes. Nice bitter finish.
3.4 Pours a pale yellow color with white head. Aroma has citrus, flowery hops, and grassy pine; all follow onto the nose. Finishes with just a little malt character.
3.3 Twelve ounce bottle from Beer Of The (Every Other) Month Club, tasted on December 31, 2012. Hazy medium amber color, balanced citrus/hop/pine/malt aroma, somewhat watery initial mouthfeel followed by a burst of hops leading to a bittersweet finish--this beer would be better if the taste were as balanced as the aroma. Still, while this isn’t the best IPA around, it isn’t too shabby either.
3.6 Had this after a pint of Dale’s Pale and I have to say that this IPA stood way above the Dale’s beer in flavor and aroma ( I realize that I am comparing an APA with an IPA, so sue me), but I liked the freshness and flavor of Lucky Bucket way better...thanks.
3.5 12 oz bottle purchased at the brewery, poured into a pint glass at home. Orange and clear appearance with a fluffy, lasting white head. Fresh hoppy aroma of pine, grass, citrus/tropical fruits, floral notes and light herbs. Similar flavor, medium hop bitterness, zesty and lightly spicy with light toasty malts. Medium body, crisp and dry with a lingering finish. Pretty solid IPA.
3.5 Some time back we had a number of visitors staying with us. For fun, they took turns going out and picking up varieties of beer. I kept notes about what we thought about each, but can not find them anywhere. I did find a bag of empties from that time period, so thought I would at least record those w/o commet and ratings from memory. This is one of those. (When I do find the notes it will be interesting to see how close I came)
2.9 12 ounce bottle from Libation Station. Pours a clear copper color with a medium sized fizzy tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of resin, citrus, pine hops with some tart fruits and a moderate non-descript maltiness. The taste is citrus hops, stone fruits and caramel malts. Medium bodied.
2.8 Bottle at home. Pours crystal clear copper with a medium-large, frothy off-white to light beige head, medium retention with light lacing. Aroma is heavy pine, citrus, and resin hops, fresh squeezed orange juice, cracker and honey malt, peach and apricot esters. Flavor is earthy, dirty malt, lightly stale hops, moderate bitterness, supporting fruity esters, and a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.
4.0 One of my favorite Nebraskan IPA’s. It’s dank, bitter, aromatic, and has an assertive grapefruit flavor. Basically it’s a West Coast IPA from a Mid-American brewer. Overall, I’d say this is a very classy effort. While Lucky Bucket isn’t my favorite Nebraska brewer, it’s proof that my home state can make a good hoppy ale.
3.7 Pours clear yellow gold with lasting white foam. Great aroma of earthy pine and bright citrus a little soapy. Solid flavor, very well put together. Familiar one orange citrus pine with solid grains to back it. Nice fairly clean finish not quite dry with lingering earthy pine kick.
3.4 Bottle with Greg, courtesy of the Big Ragu. Pour is clear orange with a big white head and great lacing. Grapefruity, orange peel, bready, lightly grassy, doughy, and caramelly aroma. Taste is much the same - fruity, grapefruity, sweet caramel, bread, a touch of weed, and earthiness with a medium bitter finish. Medium body with high carbonation. Decent IPA but the malt backbone is much too pronounced for my liking.
3.8 Draft to pint glass Tons of aroma here, caramel. grapefruit, and lots of spruce. Clear amber with a thin white head. Bitter, but well balanced with a malty and caramel sweetness.
3.7 Draft - Fresh sweet grapefruit. Pale gold with a nice beige head. Sweet citrus, well balanced with malt and a light bitterness. Very well balanced mild IPA.
3.2 bottle, went for the nebraska tick and already had one, damn, oh well, hoppy and malty, sweet finish, its ok
3.8 Pretty, good. Very hoppy floral smell. Taste is bitter grapefruit. Good, but with it tasted more like the smell.
3.0 pours hazy amber. head fades to a thick lingering film. nose is sticky pine resin, lemon rind, citrus fruits, soapy flowers. Flavor is similar hop character, some bready, toasty, and biscuity malt flavors along with the soapy lemony hops. Ok beer but not the great clean citrus or fruity IPA.
3.6 Elegant orange color. Classic grapefruit IPA aroma. Nice sweet and hoppy flavors. Good little IPA from a brewery wisely located on Centennial Road :)
3.3 Given past experiences with this brewer, I was expecting this to be complete garbage juice - thankfully, I am pleasantly surprised - it is a bit overly sweet, but the sweetness is clean and does not keep the pine and citrus intensity of the hops from shining here - there is a light gingerbread note that also adds an interesting dimension - decent.
3.6 Pours a hazy orange with a smaller bubbly off white head. Aroma of candied orange, light caramel and pine. Flavor of sweet orange notes, other citrus, pine and floral notes. Decent caramel malt profile.
3.8 Poured from a bottle. Hazy orange copper with foamy off white head. Aroma is tropical fruit with some caramel malt. Nice balance of sweet and bitter. Body is just on the light side; a little oily and slick. Nice refreshing IPA.
3.0 Found floating around in the back of the fridge, a leftover from the last Richmond Gathering, probably from Tia? In any case, thanks! Poured a medium orange amber with a crazy amount of protein floaties, decent head. Aroma was citric and pine hops, some caramel. Flavor matched. Decent balance. A bit light in some ways, getting close to an APA. Not bad, just not very exciting either.
3.6 12oz bottle into a pint glass. Pours a hazy dark orange with lots of chunks floating in the glass. Not very appealing to look at but at least I know this beer is unfiltered. Aroma of tropical fruit with just the slightest hint of pine. A little caramel malt thrown in there as well adding some depth. Tropical fruit and pine up front on the flavor but it doesn’t linger as long as I would like. Some dark bread and toffee round out the malt side and it is fairly well balanced. Moderate bitterness and a slightly sticky finish. Overall, a solid but not overly impressive IPA. There is just not the depth of flavor that I am looking for.
5.0 Best IPA that I have ever had! Great aroma and flavor. Can’t believe that it took me this long to try it.
3.5 Draft in Omaha. Poured a honey color. Lighter head. Nice floral citrus hop aroma. Pineapples. Medium bitterness. Citrus and fruit taste with hops. Pineapple, grapefruits. Smooth but potent bitter finish. Well done
3.4 Bottle from Yamaichi. Light caramel maltiness over a substantial citrus, with some rusty notes. Dark orange/brown color. Good typical IPA initial, with maybe more balance than normal throughout, moderate grapefruit notes. Medium body. Not an overthetopper at all. Perhaps a session IPA.
3.4 Bottle. I am getting caramel, nectarine, and a hint of pine on the nose. Clear orangey golden with dissipating head. Sweet then the hop bitterness kicks in but its tempered by a sweetness. Not as clingy and dry as some.
