4.1 Tasted on tap at King’s Highway in the Ace Hotel. It poured a murky Amber hue with a frothy off-white head and heavy lacing. Bold grapfruit hop aroma that writes the check that the taste has to cash, and it does. Nice brew to enjoy after enjoying an entertaining Super Bowl.
4.0 Bottle at Grub. Very nice, chewy, caramel, hoppy, resin. Nice. Sticky. Easy drinking. Good stuff.
3.9 At just on cool and into a chalice. Misty deep amber with a good dose of sea monkeys caught in suspension. Head is up then falls short to settle a sheer island of white. Nose hints at figs, raisins, dried apricot, sticky bark, stewed rhubarb and sappy resin with a perfumed musk and poking tickle of higher alcohol - thick and tantalising. Slightly metallic edge to a flawless, smooth malt and hop offering. Rose petals dominate but there is a monster of a bitter bite that lasts on the palate with a ferocity that I’ve never seen. Big, spicy alcohol hit melds in well. Body is light but it has a good viscosity to it giving it great legs. Like being drowned in grandmothers rose garden. Light oatcake, light dusty malt, light honey smack cereal - everything fades under the hops. Really mouthfilling. Mandarin and the apricot of the nose, some of the stewed rhubarb and plenty of sappy resin form the palate to full. This is a melter of a IIPA. Really had me contemplating liking it whilst kicking me is the arse, saying ’damn straight you like it!’ (12fl.Oz, no date stamp, Int’l Beer Shop, Leederville)
3.5 Bottle from sunbury beer store. Nose is all hop. Bitter and appropriate for style. Crisp. Caught a hint of Apple at first and a bit of citrus rind too. Doesn't taste like a steelhead fish which may be good. Ok but not as good as other dipa like my favorite, hop slam or even the Great Lakes seasonals, which are easier to find. Hop is upfront and its dry but there's nothing else to celebrate.
3.8 Excelente DIPA!!! Amarga é uma explosão de lúpulos!!! Amazing!!!!! Surprise me.
3.6 Bottle. Pours a muddy golden with a ring of off white head. Taste and aroma of bread malts, some floral hops, pine, hints of citrus.
3.7 Super clear gold minimal head no lacing. Citrus hop aroma, bitter hop taste, good overall, more of a single IPA. Enjoyable to say least,,,,,
3.1 BOTTLE. Pours a muddy orange, very minimal white head. Biscuit malts & bitter hoppy nose. Resin hops & boozy taste up front, rolling into bitter hops and a light caramel flavour back end. Sourced Cape Cellars
3.6 Amber pour with an off white head. Clementine-y, orange, malty aroma; bitter, orangey, dry finish
3.5 355 ML bottle Dark orange amber color, half finger of off white head that falls to a collar. Good retention to head. Spotty lacing. Nose is mandarin, stewed stone fruits, get dark fruits as well. Nose is full of resin and oil. Taste is full of hops and resin. Stewed orange and stone fruits, stewed pine and grapefruit. Bigger malt body, more PNW than SoCal. Very aggressive though. Sticky and slightly sweet. Some booze shines through. Very chewy beer. Good lingering pine and stewed grapefruit finish. Solid beer.
4.5 Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a pint glass. Aroma- Has that malt and hop aroma. Smells real good Appearance- This beer is a golden yellow with a nice white head. Taste- Has a nice sweet flavor that finishes with a bitter end with a strong booze aftertaste (strong ABV. can easily be noticed) Tastes good. Palate- A medium bodied brew with moderate carbonation. Has a slick feel to it, very enjoyable Overall- I really liked this brew, if you can find it give it a whirl.
3.7 Clear gold, tall mustard color head, spotty lace. Distinctive nose, bready, hoppy. Full body, intense flavor, well measured alcohol heat, lingering palate. Intensely bitter but not dry, goodenough acidity, good balance. Hoppy, herby, earthy, rusty, very malty, hint of honey. A very enjoyable beer, one to wake you up.
3.0 From the bottle the aroma is hops, taste is hops slightly sweet, watery mouth feel. Great balance of malts and hops, overall this is a decent beer.
2.9 Bottle from ABC. Pours a dark muddy brown with a small off-white head and some decent lacing. More malt than hops on the aroma; mostly toasted & nutty flavors. Some dark fruits come through on the hops, and maybe some light floral notes. Taste is pretty bitter all the way through with a short, somewhat dry finish. Not what I typically look for in an IPA, but a decent beer nonetheless. Acquire.
3.7 Sweet maltines, and floral hops on this one. Really dry and bitter. I have never had anything by this brewery but this is a really solid double ipa. I like my IPA’s more hop forward but this ones isn’t bad by any means. Theres a really awesome brown sugar taste that cuts through the hops. Good stuff.
3.3 Bottle cheers to Jackson. Forgot about this and found notes in my phone. I do remember it was quite sticky and resinous but not over the top which I don’t mind - plenty of tropical and stewed fruits. Slightly oxidised but it wasn’t fresh at all and it still held up rather well. Surprisingly decent
3.6 Fairly clear orange amber colour with thin white head. Slightly disappointingly faint aroma of grapefruit and pine sits atop crystal malts. Slick oily body. Taste is nicely balanced between assertive bitterness, sweet malt balance and a mild spiciness. Decent west coast IPA, but not a standout.
3.4 Interesting and drinkable. Quite hoppy but without being way bitter. Nice and good thickness and color there too.
4.0 12 ounce bottle porous a orange amber color with a ton of hop particles suspended in it. Pine and floral aromas. Moderate off-white head that dissipates quickly. Full-bodied medium carbonation. A bit on the malty side. A lot of residual sweetness.
3.4 12 oz bottle. Pours a hazy deep amber with a decent head. Flavor has more citrus and is overall more fruity than the aroma. Good balancing malt load. Nicely balanced and soft for style.
3.3 "earthy and sweet malt, juicy hops, but perhaps not quite enough. a decent IIPA, but nothing I’d go out of my way for. pretty good fresh, otherwise skip."
3.3 Pours a cloudy orange colour with a white head. Aroma is malt, fruit and some wood with hops. Taste is medium sweet leading to a hoppy finish. OK.
3.7 Pours a cloudy orange/amber with a smallish, but lasting head. Nice aromas of pine and fruit. Taste is full and well-balanced. Starts fruity and ends with some bitterness. Good beer.
3.9 An orange-amber pour into the glass has a foamy head that leaves spiderweb lacing. The nose is of citrus and sweet malt. Caramel in the mouth, along with orange and tangerine, light rind/peel notes, some stone fruits (peach?), and a woody earthen hop bitter to finish. The balance here is very good, hiding the ABV wonderfully (only noted at the very end of the finish). It’s smooth and very drinkable, with a definitive juicy palate, medium body and soft carbonation. Although the complexity and substantial mouthfeel lean toward a fuller body, the balance is so nice to provide a very easy quaff. Cheers!
3.9 Bottle from Archive Beer Boutique January 2014. Quite malty for a double IPA and the flavour is thick and cloying.
3.3 An aroma of honey and golden brown color invite you in. As you take your first sip expecting a big hop punch in the face this beer mellows out and goes into a smokey like flavor of malt.
2.5 Hazy, caramel color, slight head, thin lace. The aroma is bad. It smells fishy. It’s possible that this bottle has gone skunky. The flavor was better than the aroma. Rich, sweet malt with strong, citrus hops. Oily mouthfeel. I might try it again to find out if I just got a bad bottle.
3.6 Bottle from Hazel’s beverage world. Amber color, white head. Bitter taste with citrus, caramel, resin, floral hops, mango and a bit of pine. Bitter finish with floral hops, resin and mango. Very nice imperial IPA.
3.9 Bottle from Mane Liquor. Pours golden brown with an off white, thick head. Immediate aroma of dank hop pellets, herbs and resin. Also a hit of heavy caramel and brown sugar. Upfront taste is resiny hops and plenty of herbaceous notes. Chewy caramel malt and thick body, finished with a big bitterness. Surprisingly good!
