Hi.P.A. is a medium-bodied groove with a fresh and fruitful nose of tympanic temptation. It begins and ends with a big hop bite that is itself forever balanced on the brink by a steady rhythm of malt. Dry-hopped for extra quenching in the face of heat and beat, it’s an ideal accompaniment to chilling out, turning inward or sailing onward through the music of the night toward the dawn of the mind. It’s the liquid way to say be here now lest you never come this way again.

3.4En fût sur place. Parfums floraux et citronnés avec une dose contrôlée de malts. Au goût, fruits et fleurs, fine résine, céréales secondaires. Corps moyen et actif. Finale amère et acidulée. Bien correct.
2.812oz bottle that I found rotting in the back of my fridge. Courtesy of dmac I believe. Pours a crystal clear light golden orange with 2 fingers of frothy white head. Aroma of old grains and rotting citrus, with some weird yeast notes in the finish. Taste of bad lemons, citrus skins, caramel malt, yeast, and honey. Some medicinal notes as well. Meh
2.9bottled - pale golden color. Decent head. Refreshing, not super hoppy. Not much aroma. Cool label.
2.8Fruity, hoppy aroma and taste. A little creamy, frothy, bitter finish. Some malt. Fairly light, nothing too strong way or another that sticks out.
3.2Almost clear light orange golden, small white head. Pine. Citrus. Floral. Caramel. Medium plus bittersweet. A solid brew, but not really my thing.
3.6Bought a Magic Hat IPA sampler in Hudson. A little thick in the mouth. Deep yellow with moderate white head. Flavor is resin with some lemon back, further caramel. lighter aroma, resin & caramel. Inoffensive, flavorful enough.
Balanced finish.
2.7A piney and citrus IPA more on par with an average pale ale than a good IPA.
2.0.4 magic hat ipa’s side by side. 1 Electric Peel, 2 Encore (odd notion, wheat), 3 Lucky Kat, 4 HIPA.
Taste has a bit of vinegar and maybe pepper. Pine. Hops. Not pleasant. Sour and bitter mix.
3.112oz bottle via mixed 12pack. Poured a clear deep rusty amber with a smaller mostly white head. Aroma/flavor is loads of grains, lightly sweet, dough, some citrus rind, flowers. Sort of bland overall. Meh.
2.912oz bottle. Looks light. Aroma of floral and lightly bitter hops, some pale and caramel malts, and some dough. Flavor the same. Average texture. Not terrible.
2.9Tap orange pour white head, nose and taste are Citrus, grapefruit. Decent ipa overall.
3.1This IPA is on a world tour with a lot to show. Fresh tasting and good look.
3.3Pours a cloudy dark orange with a large white head. Hoppy aroma. Tastes of hops, citrus and pine, sweet malt and spices. Mild bitter finish. Thin bodied and a bit watery.
3.7Pours a slightly hazy medium gold with a white head that leaves spot lacing. Nose is hops with some malt. Body is medium. Taste is malt with hoppy long lasting after taste.
3.2From bottle. Ok. Everything about is okay or medium. Aroma is subdued and taste is a bit grassy and body seems thin. There is a very slight tang of citrus bitterness but pales in comparison to many hop bomb ipa’s
1.9Pours yellow, clear, rocky head. Faint aroma of yeast, citrus, bread. Taste: malty, some hoppy citrus, diacetyl. Not very drinkable.
3.4Decent enough ipa. Have had many times but picked up a loan bottle in vt to rate. Hazy gold pour with 2 fingers head. Pine and citrus aroma. Pine and citrus... Namely orange peel. Not overly bitter but still fruity. Cracker malt. Medium body. Is typically better fresh from the brewery via growler.
3.8Transfer from BA review on 12-29-12-
Poured from growler into a pint glass
Appearance – Pours a hazy golden-yellow color with a two finger white head. The head has a nice level of retention fading slowly over time to leave a rather nice level of lacing.
Smell – The nose of the beer is a mix a lighter bready and malty smell with a moderate amount of citrus hop. The citrus hop is mainly a mix of grapefruit and a small amount of orange and is mixed with a lighter pine and floral hop smell.
Taste – The taste begins with a sweet and malty base mixed with a lighter citrus hop. The sweet flavors are mainly of orange and some other lighter fruits with the hop flavor being initially of a grapefruit taste. As the taste advances further some pine hop flavors come to the tongue with the sweet fading a little. This mix of flavors take the taste to its end ,where they are joined by more grapefruit and a light floral hop flavor. With this is an increase in the orange flavor which in the end produced a rather bitter sweet flavor to be left on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is a little bit on the creamier side with a carbonation level that was average. The creamy body was quite nice for accentuating the hop flavors and allowing them to linger on the tongue, while the carbonation level made it still refreshing and quite drinkable.
Overall – A nice more citrus hop variety of IPA. It has a decent level of sweeter malts to balance out the bitter citrus hop. While not the greatest or most robust, it was a nice easy drinking brew.
3.4Light amber pour, thin white head. Aroma is sweet. Flavor is mild. It has some hoppy charecteristics to it, still very mild. A bit fruity, kind of interesting.
3.9dated bottle (plenty fresh); poured in standard ping glass.
A - Nice dark, yellowish golden tone; slightly cloudy. 1 finger of white head was soon reduced to a nice, and long-lasting, lacy top coat.
S - I could smell this one even before I put my nose to it. Strong but certainly not overpowering: Hops + orange/tangerine. Citrus aromas were more masked by hops after the beer sat for a couple of minutes.
T - sweet toned citrus hops with piney hop finish. Crisp and refreshing, yet smooth and warming. Plenty bitter [IBU = 70} but balanced with some sweetness. Yum
M - fuller than expected
One of the best I’ve had from Magic Hat. I hope this gets put in the regular roster. (from 10/2010 notes)
3.4Nice but as many of this brewery ones a little too watery. ncie aroma and enjoyable but not more to say about.
3.1This beer is fairly hazy and it has some visible sediments as well! An interesting beer loaded with hops and citrus flavor
3.4The aroma is unique, lemon, biscuit, citrus hops. The flavor is lemon peel, solvent, some skunk, some bread. The finish is sweet, citrus. Medium in body, slightly hick. Odd beer, but interstinging, and enjoyable.
3.3pours a hazy golden color with a medium off white head leaving lots of lacing. you see some sediment floating around but i shook the bottle at end of pour. the aroma is mostly floral hops and some citrus juices. the taste is citrusy up front with some hop bitterness in it as well. worth a try for ipa lovers.
2.5Good head, nice lacing, golden amber. Phenolic odor. Smells like a band-aid. That?s what phenolic means, my neighbor just told me. Doesn?t taste phenolic though. Tastes weak.
2.8Poured from a bottle. Clear yellow color, medium frothy white head. Phenolic and floral smell. Light body with a slight oily texture and a minimal hop finish.
2.9Cloudy caramel colour. Aroma of citrus with a hint of phenol. Mild taste of grapefruit, slightly bitter with an astringent finish.
4.1DATE TASTED: November 17, 2013... GLASSWARE: Kisatsky Tavern pint... OCCASION: one sink leak fixed--tomorrow, the toilet unclogs!... APPEARANCE: golden yellow body--quite light (and bright!) for an IPA--and a thick milky white head; equally thick, cirrus wisps of lacing... AROMA: quite a fragrant floral bouquet with banana, clove and citrus zest--attractive and yet appropriate (!) for an IPA... PALATE: a bit acidic late, but overall a drinkable, persuasively medium-bodied ale that sits well in the mouth...TASTE: immediate punch of mango and peach gives way to pinecone; a comfortable, fruity, fittingly rewarding profile...OVERALL: The fall beers in this mix pack fall short, but the IPA wins out as distinguishing and desirable--this will b e my Magic Hat go-to in the future...
3.6From a 33cl pours a straw color with a large white head that goes down fast leaving laces around the glass. Aroma of strong hops, citrus and malts. Taste of strong bitter hops, citrus, straw, bread and malts. Long bitterness in mouth, nice flavors. nothing too complex but still enjoyable.
3.4From a bottle. Pours hazy gold with a thin fizzy white head. Tastes like vegetables, caramel, grains, bread, malt. Low/medium body and carbonation. Smells like gourds, dough, yeast. Earthy and slightly sweet aroma.
