Séance is a dark, complexly concocted Saison, rich with earthy hues and flavors. A mild tartness begins the journey, and an underlying hop bitterness sweeps the senses through a newly opened door of the mind, where you will soon find subtle hints of ripe fruit, bringing you to a place few dare to roam.

3.1This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a large sized head of foamy fine to large sized tan colored bubbles that were very long lasting and left behind a no visible carbonation opaque light black brown colored body and a thick foamy lacing. The smooth aroma was floral. The sharp mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish with a lingering herbal aftertaste. The tangy flavor contained notes of mildly bitter mild spice mild hops brown malt breads and malt. An OK brew just nothing special.
3.2bottle - This is a saison? Really? huh. Okay. It pours dark amber with a one finger, thick tan head that lingers. It smells and tastes of caramel malt. There’s some spicy yeast, maybe a hint of fruit, and a mild finish. It’s okay I guess.
3.412oz Bottle. The pour was a murky very dark brown with an average (1-2 finger) light brown creamy head that slowly diminished, leaving behind a nice creamy film which lasted throughout and produced excellent sheets of lacing.
The aroma was of roasted dark bread malts, grassy hops and a doughy yeast with notes of coffee, dark fruit (plums and raisons), a slight smokiness and a mild nutty presence.
The taste was a lot like the aroma with a bold roasty maltiness and a touch of coffee which lingered throughout, progressing with a nice dark fruit infusion and a mild hint of yeast, with the finish being a bit smoky along with a touch of nuttiness at the end. The flavor lasted an average duration following the swallow, with a roasty smoky fruity taste left lying in the taste buds.
Mouthfeel was just below medium in body with a smooth creamy texture and a nice soft carbonation.
Overall I really find it hard to consider this a Saison. I feel it is more reminiscent of a Doppelbock, but either way it is a very tasty and enjoyable brew... www.facebook.com/KAJIIsBeerReviews
3.4Somwwhat reminds of cinnamon. Ncie pouring and fine aroma. In glass has some unfiltered looks too.
0.9Officially the worst beer I’ve ever had, and I’ve had at least over a 1000. How the hell anyone ever thought they should put this shite in a bottle and sell it is a wonder. Should have a 0 but for the appearance and aroma.
2.1Froggy and super watery .. . Had with my boy Scoobs and his brand new car when we drove downtown for bb5 .. . Tan . Thin . Mild pie dropped on a dirty floor .. . Necessary means for Necessary means for a higher education
3.2While I find magic hat beers to be hit or miss I found this one pretty enjoyable. Aroma dark malts sure there is some chocolate. Nice dark appearance foamy head. First taste smoky good going down but quickly fades. Earthy woodsy roasted malts nutty like a brown ale. Hard to pinpoint works for me as a different kind of beer.
0.8This was among the worst beers I have ever tasted. I was very intrigued at the idea of a black saison. The pour made me giddy as the dark, almost stout color with the low viscosity of a saison.
God, what an awful taste. Just terrible. Not like a saison, just a blah unsweetened chocolate yeasty mess. Nothing mixed well.
I even tried a second bottle in case it was just a bad cap or something. Nope. Just a terrible, terrible beer.
2.7Nice color and head at least. That’s about all it has going for it though. Very little aroma, and not a distinctive taste.
2.5Harsh somewhat metallic aroma that is somewhat neutral. Taste is a bit bitter, with a bit of roasty bitterness.
3.412 oz. bottle purchased a couple of (or 3 or 4?) months ago. Tangy aroma dominated by roasted malts. Very rural, earthy smell. Salty and a touch sour aroma features a dark chocolate scent. Smoky and with a touch of barnyard funk. Dunkel weizenbock-like smell that is not at all what I was expecting but is quite interesting and good. Pours surprisingly quite dark. Translucent dark brown with an amber hue. The most remarkable aspect of the appearance is the head, which is large and frothy and has a creamy beige color. That may sound like an ordinary color for head, but the shade is different from what I have previously experienced and is appealing. Produces sporadic lacing. Dry, roasted flavor that evokes a porter or a light-bodied stout. That said, there is an underlying wheat taste. A bit of a bready or muffin-y finish. Long, dry aftertaste. Light to medium body. Frothy in the palate. Easy to drink but insubstantial palate effects. This beer is quite different from most saisons and my expectations, but it ended up exceeding those expectations. It is quite flavorful and aromatic for a beer with such a low ABV. It tastes more like something that you would expect from a style-bending nano-brewery than from a nationally distributed brewer.
2.8Aroma: bready, yeasty, typical saison aroma. Appearance is dark brown with big tan head. Flavor is roasted malts with hints of burnt caramel. Smells like a saison and tastes like a run-of-the-mill brown ale.
2.8Bottle. Pours dark brown with a short beige head. Aroma was earthy with roasted malts, caramel and light spices. Flavor of caramel, fruit, earth, light chocolate and had a odd tartness.
3.1Appearance: beer pours with a very large tan head, the beer is dark for a saison, it's a very dark maroon color that almost looks black
Aroma: sweet, sugar, some dark roasted malt, faint, lemon, bread
Taste: the dark roasted malt is definitely there, you get hints of sourness and tartness,
Palate: leaves the mouth dry, lively carbonation, minimal dark malt aftertaste
Overall: certainly an interesting take on a saison, the dark malt is stronger than the saison wildness but you do get some tart
2.6Pours a very dark brown that was unappealing. I really didn't care much for this beer at all.
2.3Huh...a saison? Reddish brown pour with lots of off white head. Aroma with some toffee, spices, vegetal. Nothing too distinct in taste. Spices, burnt toast, slight hop bitterness. Watery. No thanks.
2.9Bottle. Pours hazy medium brown with a reddish tint and a creamy white head. Some lacing. Tastes like earth, malt, slightly roasted. Dry with hints of herbs. Light body and good carbonation. Some aroma of roasted malt.
3.2Just ok. Pours darker than I would expect for a saison but medium bodied. Definite tart cherries at first and then moves on to a spice mid taste and finish. Has a vegetal/ musty nature that doesn’t really work for me. Finishes
with a somewhat interesting bitterness. Not bad, just not my favorite combination of flavors.
2.512oz bottle to pint. Pours a dark murky brown. Tastes of toasted bread, burnt raisin and fig. Was not a fan of this.
3.6A dark and complicated ale. Almost like a porter. Not as smokey. Acceptable but not incredible.
3.0Bottle. Clear brown color with tan head. Nutty, earthy dirt, vegetal, swamp gas aromas. Medium body with average co2. Medium roast malt, dark bread, lightly dry flavors with some dirt, vegetables--not bad.
2.1Looks too dark for a saison...slight spice smell...way more watery than expected..mild compared to smell...unimpressive
2.712 oz. bottle. Pours a thick, well retained, light beige head, with extensive lacing, over a brown (SRM 20) body....nose is cereal malts, hints of toast, mild hop spice....taste is cereal, with biscuit tones, leading to a moderate, dominant hop bitterness, minimal esters, no fruitiness.....mouth feel light of medium, carbonation medium. This particular bottle really isn’t a Saison, it is more of a Mild or a Northern English Brown in appearance, aroma and flavors. It is a technically nicely done beer with no off aromas or flavors, but it is not a Saison. BJCP 5/2/10/4/5
3.4Pours a deep ruby brown with a smaller bubbly tan head. Aroma of toffee, caramel, dark fruits and light peppery saison notes. Flavor of tart cherries, toasted malt, pepper and caramel.
3.1Brown pour with tan head and lace. Aroma is burnt brown sugar and musty. Flavor is light dried fruit with a bito flat bitter. Medium body with ok carbonation. Not so much for me. Not really bad.
3.412oz bottle. Black pour, diminishing spotty head of off white cream. Aroma is a light grassy hops and some sweetness. Flavors are an odd mix of saison and light porter. Ggrassy hops, malt sweetness, and a mild roasty finish. Interesting.
1.4Too bitter taste. Nice aroma and appearance. Has an ending aroma of coffe and chocolate but starts very bitter.
2.0It seems a bit too bitter for me.
3.3bottle shared with pals a club dub, aroma is wine and some chocolate, taste is similar, pretty decent saison
3.212 oz. bottle from a 12 pack. Pours dark mahogany brown with a one finger tan head. Aroma is peaty and earthy with a sour tartness. Flavor hints at dirt, old leather work gloves, nuts and chocolate. Same undertone of sour tartness. Can’t quite put my finger on it. Medium bodied with average carbonation. No real notable finish. Just ok.
